There must be enough autistic fans that don't like change that will always support him to make it viable for him to keep doing it. Sadly, he is also an autistic frick with no other skills and lack of intelligence/drive to get himself out of the hole he's stuck in. So, he must be in that sweet spot where he can't afford to take any risks to branch out but he can survive if he sticks doing the same shit.

I used to watch his vids back in 08/09 and vividly remember all the autists on his website who would analyze every joke (in chronological order) that the nc made in the video.
              >”0.33 - the intro would be even funnier if the nc brought his beloved gun!”
              >”1.12 - HAHAHA”
              >”2.33 - great delivery”
              >”3.06 - I didn’t really get that reference”
Etc etc. Doug fans sure are special

I think guys like him and AVGN made it reasonably well. Got their own places, a sustainable career out of it and they get to take care of their families.
I actually think that Twitch Streamers and content creators today are more fricked once they fall off. I can't imagine a lot of them being able to afford all the shit they buy once it's all over for them. These are people that went above and beyond what Doug, AVGN and other old tubers spent. Sure, they made more, but look at Neekolul. She has a 2,000,000 apartment, and only gets like 300 views and was dropped from 100T. Eventually, she's going to have to pay for that shit.

Most critics don't do, they're knowledgeable of the mechanics, but completely ignorant of the execution.
You have people who will defend tooth and nail that those that don't have experience have the same weight in opinion as someone who has hours and hours of actual application.

It depends how seriously you take your life. I remember when I was younger, I really enjoyed Doug. It was his prime back then, so don't think it was weird that I watched a lot of his stuff, but still.
Then when I got older, around highschool he became really cringe (for lack of a better word). I didn't understand how I could've watched that crap.
Then I continued to get older, now mid/late 20's and I've wrapped around to liking Doug. I don't watch anything he makes, but there's a certain charm to a dude that quit his janitor job to go make movie reviews and 15 years later he's still going with the same 2008 style this whole time. It's probably hell for him, but from the outside, it's wholesome and hard to make fun of.

That's how I feel about it. There's a charm to it and he's a relic from a better time on YT.

      HighSchool, I loved him.
College, this dude is fricking cringe.
Adult, this dude is doing what he enjoys even if it's still cringey.

I can't hate him for that. Look at how much contempt all the others around him had for him, his base and their own. Doug was a lolcow, who took his licks and realized that in the grand scheme of things, his job isn't that important, so he might as well enjoy it while he can.

        >Look at how much contempt all the others around him had for him, his base and their own
Most of them wanted a career like his, but when they make it to CA, they barely got a bump in viewership. Guys like Spoony and Joe didn't need him, and the rest may as well have been background characters in his movies.
Also, does anyone know of Guru Larry ever left after the mass exodus?
