Why wasn't the final action set piece a Saw inspired death house where Batman has to solve puzzles and riddles and save hostages while a timer was ticking or something? I mean it's the fricking riddler and that scenario would've fit in theme with their take on the character.

        Anonymous

This Riddler was just a moron who somehow could kill high-level individuals and kill a Mafia boss and somehow they thought that him flooding the fricking city was more fitting than what you posted. Probably for the best not to expect good writing from a nepo-baby Jar Jar Abrams protege.

Because this isn't the riddler its some john doe from seven. We can't have campy weirdo putting civilians in death traps, we get "social commentary"occupy wall street. This movie is dated as frick, Noan already did this shit. If they had they had the balls they would've made an actual batman horror movie.

Yeah. Probably the most accurate to the comics as well because they actually have him doing detective shit. People that whined about him being emo don't realize that he's still new at being Batman and trying to balance his life.
As for the woke Catwoman line, it was meant to be ironic. My only complaint is the runtime and the final act.

I'll somewhat agree with the other anon. Im not a Batman traditionalist and weve had 4 different Batman actors before Affleck. His portrayal was cut short and then humiliated in the Flash movie this year where he looks like he's in a toothpaste commercial

That was the reason snyder picked him. But he just comes across as a depressed loser with no friends. Keaton was able to sell it better with just one scene of him looking in the mirror patching his wounds smiling. This is the same affleck that won an Oscar by the way, so I'm not sure why he can't write better scenes.

Affleck is the only live action Batman that would actually fit into any comic story, the rest are either too goofy or too le grounded realism. Theres no way the next Pattinson movies will have any kind of superpowered villains, only edgy serial killers who slightly resemble an actual villain

DC had an easy lay up. All they had to do was release a batfleck movie, instead of batman vs superman nonsense. That was legit the best batman we had for a long time, he was actually intimidating for once. (Muh no kill rule) all the other live action bats killed people. Also would've been interesting if they had a dead Joker in this universe because bruce had enough and killed him.

          Anonymous

I liked BvS, but the biggest flaw in regards to it's Batman was that he didn't kill the Joker, the whole thing with him losing control after Dick dies and starting to kill was a good idea, but not when he lets the Joker live but keeps killing random goons.

WB probably insisted he lived so they could make money off of him

the ideas of Batman will become relevant again once we enter a depression era economy. Either the corporate era will end and we'll have a Bataissance or a new version of the IP will rise up to replace "Batman" much like Batman replaced Zorro, the Spider, the Phantom, Doc Savage, and the Shadow.

His script was touted as the best Batman script for the screen. It had Deathstroke hunting down everyone that knows him and destroying his life and they had a 10-minute long fight scene. Plus, it had Arkham in it and a horror vibe on the side. It would have been as kino as capeshit can be and it's a shame it didn't get made.

I figured out why Riddler doesn't feel like Riddler in this movie. It's because they're really just doing Holiday instead of Riddler. Would have been more interesting if he was Falcone's abandoned son, making the connection to Bruce and the whole orphan thing come full circle. Instead he's just some lame Qanon satire. The 3rd act of this movie really drops off.

The director went up his own ass. Nolan for all the flack he gets, understands the character and spectacle. He has a dry sense of humour that works for Batman. In reeves movie bruce is miserable to be around and the movie ends miserable with city flooding. How the frick you start the movie miserable and end miserable.

Also I find it hard to believe people are going to sit down for nearly 3 hours of boring detective nonsense. Batman begins is very rewatchable and achieves everything this movie failed to do. Nolan bats actually loves his family which includes alfred.

        >Batman begins is very rewatchable and achieves everything this movie failed to do.
Definitely. Begins is a better movie and has a better Bruce than the emo manchild from this movie.

  21. 9 months ago

No. Pattinson was the best part, though. He has the makings of a supreme Batman had he not been given that cringe-inducing emo Kurt Cobain look or whatever the frick they were going for with that. I remember seeing him in Cosmopolis and thinking he'd be a pretty good Bruce Wayne so it is even more frustrating he was just a moody teenager and didn't act like Bruce at all.
    >inb4 character arc
Sure, I get that but the whole emo shtick was stupid and had no need to be in there. He could just be more hot-headed and violent as a starting-off point for his character and that aesthetic wasn't needed to convey that.

The biggest problem with this movie is the fricking script. Matt Reeves is not a good enough writer to craft an engaging detective/mystery story. Also the whole thing felt like he was just trying to do Dark Knight but edgier which maybe could've worked if he went all the way with it and got an R rating but instead it just feels like a PG David Fincher rip off.

I've realized that good comic book movies are the ones that cater to a movie audience. Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, the first three X-Men movies and Dark Knight trilogy are legitimately good. The problem is when the studios cater to comic book nerds. It's like the bar is significantly lowered when movie x staying true to comic book y is considered good enough.

No. It sucked. They turned another franchise into a blacksploitation film. “Batman lives matter”, his role in the film is literally protecting “Chaaange” Mayor QUEEN Lakisha from the white revolutionary ringleader The Riddler. This is a prime example of new left deconstruction and deterritorialization, the CRIMINAL Wayne family is thrown into the mud. No beautiful 50s or 80s America, there is always DARKNESS behind WASP heritage. Wayne’s life history is shameful and thus he has to REJECT IT. EVERY white person in this film is a madman, a narcissist, corrupt or a psychopath. Blacks are positioned in all the respectable rules in the movie: the good policeman, the female Obama, and the doctor who saves Alfred from death. The racial casting can’t be more obvious. First scene: the black thug is persuaded by the white skinheads to fight the innocent Asian man. Truly Trump made Hollywood lose their minds and everything has to pass the left-wing filter, there is no place for iconoclastic inconsistency in the left-wing hallucination. So basically Batman uncovers the truth about his white guilt and faces Cinemaphile populist terrorist ENIGMA, however he doesn’t manage to stop CLIMATE CHANGE. Yes, Gotham is flooded by a series of bombs triggered by Enigma and his Cinemaphile minions. The evilness of whites accelerated the collapse. Batman is able to save Lakisha from the rubble and she gives an epic (lmao) SISTA speech about “rebuilding the trust in institutions” while Billionaire Batman promises to help the downtrodden with his millions.
