tv is a better format for the IP, not sure why they thought a movie would do well. also, suzanne collins is an awful writer.

Remaining forgotten would be better for the IP that’s a shitty YA novel rip off of Battle Royale

        >the IP that’s a shitty YA novel rip off of Battle Royale
Hunger Games actually makes sense, though. The Hunger Games happens because Panem is a totalitarian dictatoship that takes place hundreds of years in the future, possibly the only functioning country on the planetafter global nuclear wars & a post apocalypse period. That, & the worldbuilding of the Hunger Games makes it clear that there is an infrastructure in place where it all makes sense.

        >An unspecified time before the events of the story, the Earth was devastated by climate change and global nuclear war(s) that led to the collapse of modern civilization. Surviving populations that survived this initial calamity were further decimated by the subsequent nuclear winter and catastrophic ecological events that followed, which Katniss states were droughts, fires, storms, and rising sea levels.

In Battle Royale, the Japanese govt is cartoonishly evil, & the rest of the world is okay with it... because?

I think it's both. "Great" might be an overstatement, but there's certainly some kind of alegorical value. A bunch of young adults/older kids thrown to the meatgrinder of the modern adult world. The adults seem either explicitly in on it, or otherwise indifferent to their suffering. Because they don't understand that the adults are already dead inside from going through it themselves longer than most of the kids have been alive.
Then there's Kitano's stated motivations and rationale. It has some depth.

              or
              >Other people don’t understand BR’s commentary isn’t subtle like I do (even though literally everyone who’s seen it does and I’m actually a fricking moron desperate to convince myself I understand something others don’t by sharing my delusions about others beliefs)

I’m not going to think about a random Cinemaphile thread at any point in the future but I’m sure you’ll be content on your deathbed remembering how the absolutely moronic points you made on a Chinese paper crane folding forum were made with pure passive aggressive seethe which made you feel superior to the people who were just aggressive

. Watching the avengers fight 10000 CGI aliens animated by the Indians the SFX was outsourced to while making unfunny millennial redditor humour quips is not fun that’s just a shitty justification for it. That’s like writing off a movie described as atmospheric because it “sounds like something an A24 fan would say”
Battle Royale is actually fun, you’re a moron for thinking that’s a bad way to describe a movie

Having read catching fire and mockingjay recently I can confirm she’s not a good writer, I kinda chuckled at the dedication at the end in which she admitted to having been tard wrangled by a small army during the publishing process, which explains a lot. One scene that was telling in particular was when the mountain is bombed in mockingjay and how casually she skims over it, despite it being an important scene, almost like she didn’t have the chops to describe what was going on at that point.

I read the whole series in a weekend and I was yelling at the book the whole time. She had an opportunity to mold the kids of the future but in the end all you can take from the books is
      >CAPITALISM.... BAD!
      >COMMUNISM.... BAD!
      >UHHHH..... JUST BE YOURSELF?

and we wonder why zoomers are so pathetic

Hunger Games is the only series where trannies fit in with the degenerate culture of the elites. Hunters character eventually becomes a furgay.

        >As the Games started to develop over the years, implementing new rules and aspects of the games, she was eventually picked to become a stylist for the tributes for an unknown district. Katniss had remarked that she remembers Tigris from the earliest games she could remember. Throughout the years, Tigris started to get surgical enhancements, specifically to alter her looks to look somewhat like a tiger getting face and arm tattoos, flattening her nose and getting some of the largest whiskers Katniss had ever seen from a Capitol citizen.[
