I don't understand why they put so many scenes/story beats in from book 2 and 3. Like Lu Ten and Katara's mothers death are both really important for future episodes that they just put in here when they didn't really need to.
Is the original series worth watching as a 30-year-old man? It completely escaped me during its first run for some reason.
YES, YES, AND GO WATCH IT ALREADY
Yeah it's good, the first few episodes have a more childish tone than the rest of the series so they can be a struggle to get through but if you get past them then the series mostly keeps up a consistent level of quality all the way to the end
Sure, but Book 1 is the weakest and takes a while to get to the good episodes. Book 2 and 3 are still stellar.
I didn't watch it till I was in my early 20's, season 1 is more kid focused IMO, but 2 and 3 really pick up and are great, I rewatch the series atleast once a year.
Watching it for the first time right now, yeah it's pretty enjoyable. Don't bother unless you're the type of person who watches anime.
Genuine kino. Mogs any live action shit "for adults" from the past ten years.
It remains one of the greatest western TV cartoons ever made. Not a high bar by any means, but still.
It's cartoon kino
The show is excellent. The first half of Season 1 is kinda rough. Season 2 and 3 are excellent outside of a handful of episodes. Please watch it when you have the chance.
It's fine, good even. But it's not the second coming of Christ that some of the fanbase treat it as. It just stood out at the time because it had no real competitors in the realm of long-form animated storytelling.
It's definitely a kids' show but it doesn't often talk down to them. Clearly left leaning though if you hate that shit.
TLAB:
>4 nations separate but in harmony
>there are even small exchanges of knowledge and culture, particularly through the avatar who keeps balance
Korra:
>EVERYONE IS A HOMOSEXUAL BENDER NOW, ESPECIALLY BROWN PEOPLE
Korra comics:
>UGH why won't the water tribe accept our hot lesbian scissoring?
I don't know what you're trying to prove here. We all know Korra is hot dogshit and it loves shitting on leftism as well
My point is it didn't become lefist and woke before Korra
Korra season 1 is literally an extremely poor critique of communism
Anon. The fascist nazi tribe gets defeated by a ethnically diverse cast of characters with a vegan monk who rejects deadly violence. Just having open borders doesn't change that. Korra literally critiques communism and leftist anarchy
Legend of Korra never showed or even implied homosexuals until the very last minute. But yeah Korra did pave the way for more woke garbage. Apparently Air Nomads are free love hippies now.
I tried watching it and a 12(?) year old girl having a crush on an 8(?) year old boy was too frickin weird to deal with.
Aang is 12 and Katara is 14 in the original
Wrong, Aang was still in the womb bending his mother's amniotic fluid.
aang was 112 homie
It's the closest thing you will get to a perfect show. And S1 was good, I don't get why everyone else thinks that season is meh. It isn't written any worse than the later ones, just slower in action
I love the whole Avatar universe and been a fan for a while but after a recent rewatch I must admit it is 90% a kids show. Jokes are cringe, dialogues too, but holy shit the show is a catastrophe compared to that.
Maybe a weird take for some but I absolutely loved season 1 of Korra more than ATLA.
If I were you I wouldn't watch it unless you enjoy watching some animes at least.
I'm watching it now at 40. It's good
No, it's generic and childish. Toph is really the only good thing about it.
Also,
>all these people saying season 3 is great
Lol, it's full of plot holes, shitty pacing, shitty plot conveniences and the villain has zero development.
Nostalgia is a powerful thing indeed.
There's no subtlety in the cartoon, everything was written for 8 years old to understand.
Plus Aang becoming Kyoshi, the secret tunnel singers, meeting Wan Shi Tong, all beats from future episodes that didn't ned to be there, AND HE DOESN'T EVEN ATTEMPT TO LEARN WATERBENDING, which is like the whole purose of season 1
Roku seemed way off to me, but I like that we meet other Avatars, and that they don't pretend that noone died like in the cartoon, but a lot of the choices they made make me wonder what they have planned for the hypothetical seasons 2 and 3
Aang becoming Kyoshi was badass and probably the best part of the show.
It's fricking moronic.
It means if young aang stayed at the temple Yangchen's spirit would have taken over and saved the day
No it doesn't.
>I can only transform in to a former avatar at their shrine
>Episode 1: Hey aang meet me at Yangchen's shrine where you got your tattoos
moronic
The avatar state is the combined incarnations of every avatar according to cannon, so if aang went into the avatar state it is possible for Kyoshi to take over. It's like a mini avatar state. And Kyoshi has a special connection to that village.
Nah, it was genuinely stupid. They should've just had Aang come in to save the village by himself, or at least in his avatar state.
Yu yu Hakusho did the same thing. Probably to introduce the more interesting elements early to hook the audience. It shows a lack of faith in the product. I'm no fan of One Piece but they just had the first season be the first saga have to respect it for that
>I'm no fan of One Piece but they just had the first season be the first saga have to respect it for that
These morons did the same mistake when they revealed Garp is Luffy's grandfather.
>Yu Yu
Jesus did that already come and go? Talk about a fart in the fricking wind.
japanese-made live actions have zero presence and zero staying power
all that matters is what hollywood makes
Not really true. Alice in Borderland was huge.
Season 2 and 3 are probably already written, and the plot is laid out so tightly that they couldn't have fit those elements in, or at least not in a natural way.
Like the singers and the secret tunnel, might as well have that as a plot element here instead of cramming it in when they return to Omashu. Or maybe they are skipping Omashu entirely and there was never even a chance of fitting it in.
They left the subtlety with their brain out in the garbage dump
necessary evil for modern audiences unfortunately. even moreso for the under-18s watching
not true at all. Oppenheimer was mega-successful and even Barbie has some clever jokes.
Live action adaptions of cartoons are almost always soulless and made solely to appeal to people who hate art.
Overtly fantastical stories work BEST in animation, but normalhomosexuals are too blind to see it.
nobody wants to watch cartoons past the age of 7
hahaha, sheep, bahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, keep watching your shitty "adult" shows
Your modern israelitewood moobies are 90% cartoon anyway, considering how much CG is used...Might as well watch a full cartoon
>omashu is built upon two lesbians falling in love
No wonder the city is beating down on itself
I assume
that was just Bumi writing yuri slashfics as a shitpost.
I've only watched episode 1, but so far:
Filler
Unnecessary plot rewrites
Clunky exposition dumps
Bad acting
Bad casting
Wonky CGI
Devoid of any humor
Start is the weakest, it only gets better.
>Start is the weakest
Yes, I will continue watching a show because it's shit at the beginning. Nice logic homosexual
The cgi was good for 2010 and better than a lot of the cgi we got today
>Clunky exposition dumps
To be fair OG Avatar has clunky exposition dumps as well in the first episode
I couldn't watch finish episode 1 because of the acting. They are all terrible...
Why does little homosexual have the body language and speech patterns of a moronic teen girl/hollywood actress?
This
Aang is supposed to be lively, joyful, loud, obnoxious, childlike, innocent, but compassionate and loving. He's like naruto
This kid is nothing like that. he's stern, serious, whiney. he smiles every now and then and has a gentleness about him but that's it
Just awful
For those of you who "think" (I'm using that word in its loosest possible sense) that this show is somehow """""""bad""""""""", have you tried not being a moronic incel manbaby piece of shit? Huh? Have you tried that one yet? Because I hear it really helps here, and it seems to be just what you're missing.
They messed with the bull. They got the horns.
it exists
Asian Americans happened. People have no problem watching Asian kino, see South Korea and Japan. But Asian Americans are just so insecure and self conscious about their identity that you can just feel the insecurity, coping, and over compensation in any Asian American focused media and it ruins it. Asian Americans are truly the lowest of the low.
Take this show for example. A cartoon made by white guys inspired by asian cultures stolen by Asian Americans because its dey cultah and muh ancestors. So cringe.
You b***h asses literally fricking ASKED for accurate racial casting after the live action movie.
Avatar world isn't a real place.
The writers were inspired by and took a lot of aspects of different asian cultures but the characters look european. Even the brown ones (a few exceptions).
The Chinese toads don't look like the characters they're portraying and that's why it comes across as miscast.
Did they really forget to make Azula's fire blue?
You can see a spark of blue fire when she's fighting at some moment, I'm guessing it's to represent her evolution and growth as a fire bender, so when we see her again in season 2, she will show her new powers
Episode 1 is kino
Episode 2 is kino
Episode 3 is GARBAGE AND INSULTING
Episode 4 is mid
Episode 5 is kino
Haven't watched further yet.
They should have made everyone adults, yeah they were kids in the original but it doesn't look good in live action
The people in Anime are not Asian.
Western cartoons are not anime.
So many homies on here and twitter complaining about things being out of order. Like some of it is dumb but people are being so nitpicky about the smallest details.
Everything.
Progressive women are talentless
