This is an extremely unpleasant art style. This, Final Space, Rick & Soirty all the family guy rip offs which were just Simpson rip offs them selves. The state of western animation is a DISGRACE
Seems probable considering it not only was never brought up again we never had Mariner and Jennifer interact in the next season. The plot served its purpose and they were done with it.
To get into the audiences thick heads -specially the shippers- that Borimer will always be a loser (and will never get the girl) and that Mariner is a wild girl boss (that will always get what she wants, even the girl).
Mariner was established as omnisexual. Turns out she's not just a Kirk style badass, she's a Kirk style lover too. She'll even bonk a binar (two binar at the same time, dude).
You're one of those posters who claims Kirk was never a ladies man. Well sorry, bucko, but Kirk is canonically known as a horndog in-universe.

>doesn’t even deny it
Wouldn’t expect less from a Lower Decks tard. Kirk only had one mistress and her name was the Enterprise. That’s one consistent bit of characterization across TOS and the OG movies. Maybe you should consider watching them sometime.

Projection thy name is anon. Funny how you don't know about Kirk's nature. Frick, dude, McCoy wasn't even coy about it in Undiscovered Country, and that's before we factor in what Sisko said about him in Trials and Tribble-ations.

That was Pike. Not that you would know who that is.

I get that Cinemaphile LD threads tend to be troll heavy, but this is some low effort shit. Please have this pity (you).

FYI Kirk only had romantic relations with aliens (only 2, BTW) in TOS when he was either being mind-controlled or drugged or mind-wiped. He has a couple of exes and they’re all highly-educated human women because that’s his type.
HTH. You should watch TOS sometime, just to know what your shitty cartoon attempts to parody (without even understanding the source material, it seems).
You’ve missed Ruth. Have you notice how none of these women are aliens, by the way?

Nobody mentions Gillian? Ultimately Kirk didn't manage to score her phone number but not for lack of trying, and we can't even handwave that away as him trying to seduce his way into her whale tank. Any blowhole is a goal.

Hell, the given reason for why they dumped Yeoman Rand was that her romantic aspect with Kirk was becoming too obvious and the studio wanted his love life to be more varied. I don't know if he's really as much a wolf as some people suggest (people tend to see things from different perspectives, plus the 60s were a different time) but romantic moments are a big part of the series for him.
I like the time Davinci waylaid Kirk because only he could teach the daughterwife he built how to love Kirk's stds may or may not have been the real reason she shorted out.
Projection thy name is anon. Funny how you don't know about Kirk's nature. Frick, dude, McCoy wasn't even coy about it in Undiscovered Country, and that's before we factor in what Sisko said about him in Trials and Tribble-ations.
I also like anon white knighting Kirk when one of Kirk's oldest friends calls him out on it.
It’s not whiteknighting. If you actually watch TOS, you’ll have a better grasp of Kirk’s character. If some dipshit online thinks Kirk is literally Zapp Brannigan, odds are he’s only seen the JJ Abrams movies (or that he’s Mike McMahan shitposting while drunk on Maker’s Mark, apparently). But we all know Mike McMahan hasn’t actually seen TOS, because he also misunderstood the plot of Return of the Archons. Maker’s Mark is horrible bourbon, by the way.
Definitely, though clearly different people here see it differently. I think the one that it was to add drama to Mariner leaving is valid. I also think that it was just to show Mariner can admit her mistakes and stop pushing people away.
It is surprising they never had her and Jennifer at least talk in the last season. It'll probably happen in the next and last.
Would’ve been fine with those two getting together if we got to see their relationship develop onscreen. Having the majority of it happen offscreen didn’t do it any favours. Not helped either by how little they interacted throughout the show in general. Several of those instances being negative. Definitely the weakest aspect of the show for me.
I personally don't get that. Given how little Mariner's relationship with Jennifer mattered to the overall plot I'm glad it didn't get more screentime. Why waste development on something that doesn't really matter beyond a few minor points? If anything it should have had less. Mariner's VA had to push like hell for her character to visit DS9. It's her favorite Trek series plus Mariner already has established history with the station. Instead they just wanted her to stay on the ship and have a girls night in with Jennifer and Jennifer's friends. At least she was able to get in that scene at the very end of the episode.
I'm not really sure why some anons make such a big deal out of Mariner and Jennifer, but not, say, Rutherford and Barnes. Not saying this is you, but some anons take this way too seriously. Or it's just the usual excuse to start another troll thread. Really sucks how Cinemaphile this entire board has become.
>Rutherford and Barnes
Well for me at least it’s because they never used her to further develop him as a character. If that makes sense. The heart to heart Jennifer and Mariner had fell flat because of the aforementioned reasons. But ultimately though it’s not really that big of a deal. In the grand scheme of things it’s just a very, very, minor complaint of mine.
>not, say, Rutherford and Barnes
Probably because Rutherford and Barnes was just a gag in the first fricking episode while the lesbians were played 100% straight (even though the show is supposed to be a comedy, but we’re not allowed to make fun of the queers, hell no). Not to mention that the lesbians very specifically fricked with what was at a very popular straight pairing at the time.
I know no one gives a shit about Tendi and Rutherford but imagine if she randomly became a lesbian in S5 after all the shit between her and Rutherford in S4.
Been making my way though the show lately and I've been enjoying it more than I expected.
As great as Tendi is Mariner might end up being best girl for me.
Could change once I catch up but that's how I'm feeling at the moment.
It's a western cartoon in the 2020s, it was forced to have one
To make you sneed
This is an extremely unpleasant art style. This, Final Space, Rick & Soirty all the family guy rip offs which were just Simpson rip offs them selves. The state of western animation is a DISGRACE
Literally just to have a romance b-plot that they could end and get more mileage out of Mariner leaving.
This and to show Mariner was growing as a person by making friends out of an enemy.
Seems probable considering it not only was never brought up again we never had Mariner and Jennifer interact in the next season. The plot served its purpose and they were done with it.
Twitter brownie points
McMahan wanted to piss off Mariner/Boimler shippers
He didn't account for the fact that that was his entire audience
WiA forces lesbian plotlines in to everything
To get into the audiences thick heads -specially the shippers- that Borimer will always be a loser (and will never get the girl) and that Mariner is a wild girl boss (that will always get what she wants, even the girl).
oh there's lesbians? Adding it to my 'want to watch' list
the point is that its the late 24th century and nobody gives a frick any more about your weird hangups.
>Ships lesbian with character from race known to assault the people they have attractions to, and are extremely explosive emotionally.
Art imitates life with the whole abuse angle I guess. They write what they know.
do you think thats a normal thing to say?
are you okay?
>Art imitates life
Yet the majority of people in prison for assaulting their gf are dudes
DEI. I can't believe you homosexuals actually believed Mariner and Boimler where ever going to be a thing.
Watch your mouth because it still could be. Hopefully it won't because she's a fricking disaster and he can do so much better.
Nah, she's a lezbo and a lezbo she shall stay. Kurtzman Trek would never be so based as to have a guy dick down a dyke and make her wiener crazy.
Mariner was established as omnisexual. Turns out she's not just a Kirk style badass, she's a Kirk style lover too. She'll even bonk a binar (two binar at the same time, dude).

We should all have such a lifelong ambition.

Her being black wasn't enough?
It was hot.
I do enjoy the episode where an overpopulated planet kidnaps Kirk because only the myriad STDs he's carrying could overwhelm their immortality.
I like the time Davinci waylaid Kirk because only he could teach the daughterwife he built how to love Kirk's stds may or may not have been the real reason she shorted out.

Dude, stop white knighting Kirk. He won't have sex with y- Well actually he probably would. Huh.
The weird thing about this conversation is that TOS was never even subtle.
>plot line
Was it?

>it’s not lazy pandering! it’s character development!
The lengths you people go through to defend this show is something else.
The fact that you're so intent on seething over what you're imagining other people saying is honestly pretty damn funny.
girls kissing girls, not kissing you

This is a very homosexual question.
