Both, but Colm moreso. He was taking out his mental crisis on Padraic when his sister was right--he was sick and it wasn't Padraic's fault he was unhappy. Padraic should have took a fricking hint though, which is the most frustrating part eventually.

I wonder how lonely do things get on places with a small amount of people living in it

      Anonymous

Why do you think the population of a place has anything to do with loneliness. You could live in a big city but have no friends and the loneliness level would be the same as if you lived in Inisherin and had no friends.
I'm certain small communities are more tight knit because the less people there are, the more you need each other. That means a small town would be _less_ lonely compared to somewhere with more people.

pretty sure that anon isn't talking about a hermit but someone outgoing. what if it was a town of 30 people and half of them were miserable buttholes? isn't that what the movie is about? The sister character wants the frick out because at least there is a chance and more variety outside

of course if you're a miserable bastard you'd be a miserable bastard anywhere you'd go. gotta fix yourself first

          >gotta fix yourself first

Have you fixed yourself? I've never seen anyone fix themselves because you're who you're born as. You can change your weight and get a haircut but you can't change your personality. I know because there's not even one person I like on Cinemaphile so they're just all being themselves.

There was a time when I liked the people of Cinemaphile but those people are long gone and their replacements are fricking horrible. I don't know who any of you are but I'll be here until you're all gone. If you refuse to leave then one of us will die eventually and the other will be the winner. I'll win either way.

i'm not saying you can easily change your personality, but you definitely can change from being a miserable butthole. that's insane to think that you're just born that way. even your examples of changing your weight or how you look can make someone more confident and outgoing.

judging people on Cinemaphile as your scale of personalities is part of the problem

              >judging people on Cinemaphile as your scale of personalities is part of the problem

Why not? There's more people on Cinemaphile than I've ever met in my life so I think it's fair to judge them. I'm here so I think there's every personality sans good kind people so it says a lot about the world. Everyone on Cinemaphile is dumb or aggressive or both. There's nobody even dumb and kind so they're just all identical. Don't reply to me because I don't want to speak to you. I need to go remove entire threads full of them.

how the frick old are you? you don't realize that Cinemaphile attracts a certain demographic of people? of course you're going to find shitty people on an anonymous message board. you should probably try spending less time here and maybe see a therapist. i'm not even trying to be rude either.

                Anonymous

Everyone is ruder behind a computer screen and everyone is ruder still when they're anonymous bro. Its foolish to think that how people act under these specific conditions is a truer representation of who they are than how they act in some other context. It's really easy to not viscerally realize that you're talking to another human being when you're both anonymous and reading each other's text on a screen. Looking into another human face and talking, seeing them listen and then talk back, does change the game and can make you viscerally realize that you're dealing with a human being not unlike yourself.
Even ignoring that, I've had some rare kind interactions on here. While it's rare I would say the completely unexpected nature of anons being kind combined with its rarity makes it feel a lot more valuable than, say, mere politeness irl. So it cuts both ways.
Basically I'm saying you've been overly harsh in your judgments

if you're genuinely asking then i'll say that it won't be the easiest thing and dependent on what you need as a person. some people seek someone like a therapist to talk to t to help them get their feet off the ground, others start working out and taking better care of themselves. sometimes all someone needs is filling up their day with things to do, which means less time online. i'm not going to pretend i know you and your specific needs, but i know it's possible to be happier.

It's literally all in the way you think. I'm way less moody and reactive because I removed my emotions from my thoughts and addressed a few cognitive distortions, mainly catastrophic thinking and mind reading. Also, a "not my problem" mentality, plus the realization that very few if any things in life are worth getting upset about, helped calm my mind. Look into "Feeling Good - New Mood Therapy" and Buddhist meditation practices, e.g. "Mindfulness in Plain English"

It's not bad because if someone doesn't want to be your friend anymore then you have to accept it. Why? If you care about them then the reason for them cutting you loose shouldn't matter. If my best friend says he doesn't want to talk to me ever again then I say okay because I trust him that the reason is good.
