So are all the "X-Men" going to be OCs? Will powers be connected to myths and folklore? So Greek Scott and Jean, Logan stays a Canuck, and so on? And the ones with no codename/power tying them to a specific nation/myth, will just get distributed all over at random? But we already have Colossus and Magik, and they're still Russians, despite the names. And now we have Armor who's remaining Japanese, and Storm who's getting tied to Wakanda more, so nothing conclusive is coming out of it. Dunno, this could be interesting, but it could also end up as too much of a YA nonsense. If it's genuine myths being channeled through their nations, it'd work. If it's random gods/creatures seeking "avatars" and you have some hood LARPing as an Oni like he came out of Ghost Dog, it'll be ridiculous. Although considering who's writing it, I'm thinking it's the Westerners who'll get hit with the diversity ray and all the Nipponese will remain "pure" and the stars of the setting.
Still, it's at least interesting enough. Better than giving us the O5 but as teens again and with race/sex/gender swaps. The original Ult.XM worked back in the day by leaning into the aspect of the New Millennium, Y2K and Celeb Culture. All of those things are gone now, so taking it to a completely different direction could work.

The evolution episode where she was actually created.... before NYX... and innocence lost still has her as specificlaly his clone (also she met him in claremont's 2000s uncanny x-men run, this was later retconned as a second meeting but it still was first irl), while this is just a random mutant with no tie that exists in a world where storm's just a random african chick and a wakandian freedom fighter

I think they designed the New Champions variants first and then decided to give Momoko Ultimate X-Men where she could use Maystorm
I'm really curious about this series and this universe in general. 616 has felt super repetitive recently, so hopefully this is sufficiently different.
