Numerous female talk show hosts have stated how hot Simba and Kovu were...but heaven help the guy who says Nala, Sarabi, or Zira are attractive. Another societal double standard.

      Tecnically he is Simba's cousin

You're looking at it the wrong way. The movie doesn't want to fool you. They want you to realize that Kovu's Scar's son, with very flimsy lines to say he's toootally not (but you know he is, right guys? Wink wink)

      Tecnically he is Simba's cousin

      They're first cousins once removed

I'm pretty sure at least one of lines was poorly dubbed in later. The mouth movements don't match

Just looking at his design it’s clear Nuka is Scar’s real son. Clearly Kovu was supposed to be one half of history repeating itself, with one son being favored and the other jealous, but then they realized Kovu being Scar’s kid would make him Kiara’s cousin so they tweaked it. Obviously the question remains then, who is Kovu’s real father? Because Scar was apparently the only male in the pride for years, but there again the first movie was never concerned with those questions either because it’s a narrative for children. Regardless, Scar has a surviving child in Vitani so there’s that.

See? Disney knows how real lions get down. Thinking adults get this. Little kids don't. Disney back then made movies for EVERYONE, and surprising accurate to nature in some cases.

He didn't, his mother or something else scratched him.

After Nuka got killed during an attempted ambush, Zira blamed Kovu and slapped the shit out of Kovu...then gasped in surprise at how similar the wound made him look to Scar.
A lot of people who only have a cartoon-based knowledge of how claws work on skin complain that that couldn't have happened because she caught him with a lateral swipe instead of a vertical. Those who understand claws know that the movie was actually kinda accurate, physics-wise: claws don't slice through things like razor blades. They sink in, snag and tear flaps off. If Zira hit Kovu overhand, she would have torn half the skin on his face off, from forehead to cheek. A grazing, sideways impact has a much higher chance of leaving a similar wound to what Kovu received.

He's NOT, biologically. Scar was genetically inferior, but highly functional. Nuka's his biological son and was just a mess, apparently with neurological impairments as well as being underweight and uncoordinated. Zira and Scar learned from that, and Zira was allowed to wander and mate with healthy males to get Vitani and finally, Kovu. Scar realized that he needed a healthy male heir and was unable to create one himself. His goal was not biological, but ideological, so a genetic link wasn't needed, just a unified purpose.

Maybe you saw this movie too young and were still kinda dumb. I was 20 when I saw this and understood during the first viewing. Disney back then didn't just make movies for stupid little kids. They made it make sense for thinking people of older ages, too.

I hope this is bait, but I do believe you're that annoying and confident in yourself while being wrong about how genetics works

        Anonymous

Just confident. The annoying part is your perception. That's the ONLY reason Scar wouldn't have killed Vitani and Kovu. He needed healthy kids that weren't his cuz he puts out defectives.

Genes don't become defective to that degree in one generation dumbfrick, He was Mufasa's brother so degeneration to the point of high probability of defective youth over that timescale is impossible. It would also rely on Scar accepting his genetic inferiority, which he would not do. He says he was at the shallow end of the gene pool only in terms of brute strength; he's proud of getting the lion's share of the brains and his vanity and hubris are such that he would absolutely not give up on his host of little Scars after one attempt, even assuming Nuka's problems were immediately apparent before he'd even start conceiving others
          Watch more Lion King
I do know that the host of little Scars line is not canon to the movies if anyone wants to nitpick that

Whether or not that's entirely true, Scar apparently felt that was the case and gave Zira permission to get knocked up by other lions, cuz Kovu ain't his. Deal with it, son.

              Anonymous

If you're following canon, none of them are Scar's cubs and Zira wasn't even Scar's mate
If you're headcanoning that Nuka is Scar's son you might as well headcanon that Kovu is too
I'm not gonna deal with it when 'it' is your weird halfway headcanon

You know...there's discussions where you can find out from the production staff how accurate I am. If you care to look. I find that most people online actually DON'T care to inform themselves, and would rather debate you with their OWN headcanon.

Kovu, Nuka, Vitani and Zira were all clearly supposed to be related to Scar but that had to change because then Kiara would’ve technically been Kovu’s cousin implying incest romance.

Scar is a perfect example of why nerds should have no power. Chads are automatically smarter even if they had smaller brains anyways.
