Who?
You mean the Anna-Maria the AI hologram?
Just wait til you can read it dude lol
In the initial fight, Doc uses the projection of Anna Maria Marconi from Superior Spiderman. This is mostly to set up that he has this ability, and to give him someone to yell exposition at as he falls
Later, when he uses the projector, the original spirit of Otoha, the girl whose body he's possessing, can talk to him. So she's basically a passenger in his body, but can interfere to some extent (she tried to stop him hurting her bullies)
He also seems to have some of her memories, if I'm understanding rightly.
Something has seriously gone wrong with Ocks plans, but I didn't really understand them to begin with. I need a copy I can actually read properly though.
Spreads 7 and 8, when his life is flashing before his eyes, he starts seeing Otoha's memories as his own and is initially confused. He wakes up in hospital and reads the nametag and is like "she's the owner of those memories?"

I mean, is a story that starts with characters moving to a new neighborhood "light isekai"? The term loses all meaning at some point
The chapter ends with Doc implying he can get back to his own body without too much difficulty, but wants to stick around to get Otoha's life in order first

I wonder how Japanese truck drivers feel about isekai tropes?
>I wonder how Japanese truck drivers feel about isekai tropes?
If I recall correctly, it's an old Japanese trope that's been cooped by Isekai stories purely because it was a cliche way for people in Japanese stories to get killed/put in a coma for decades before those stories became the current fad. And this cliche was born from a particularly turbulent time in middle-late 20th Japanese history when the country was undergoing rapid urbanization and an explosion in car usage. Laws, regulations, and behaviors did not keep up and it resulted in staggering numbers of pedestrian injuries and deaths. It became enough of a public scandal to receive serious political attention. Nowadays it's not as common, but one presumes the zeitgeist in the past resulted in such incidents becoming a common narrative tool that is now being replicated long after the kernel of truth it represented has faded.
For a Cinemaphile, ish, related example, this is how Ken's brother got offed way back in the second season of Digimon. And it shows up in later seasons too. It's just been a go to method of killing off characters in flashbacks in Japan for awhile. Isekai stories are just the latest ones to use it, though because they largely all involve the MC actually dying, it's made the usage of it balloon in size.

It's also used in Stephen King's books and it's quite a cliche way of dying in hundreds of horror stories.
>They watch the news report about his own body going into a coma in NYC
This does not happen in the chapter
As far as we know he IS in an another world, but it would have to be one where that world's Doc Ock set things up the same way
Seems like body swap is more likely though

It's 49 fricking pages. Transcribing 49 pages of an English comic takes a while, let alone translating it half-decently. Plus Doc speaks in a weird old-fashioned arrogant way (calls himself waga, says things like yokarou).
I will take that over HEY KID YOU KNOW YOUR FAVOURITE SUPER HERO UNGABUNMAN? Well, it turns out Ungabunman has been depressed the whole time and he might indentify as nonbinary flaming fluid. Also Ungabunman has been cheating behind Ungabunwoman's back the whole time with his side kick Ungabunkid

It's crazy how much better Vigilantes was, turns out if you focus on a smaller core cast of characters instead of one in the triple digits then your story improves immensely
The problem with any shonen with a school setting is that authors always have to make the plot way bigger than it needs to be. They are always at their best when they ficus on school stuff and they completely lose themselves when they force some large villain.
Fair, I specifically meant battle shounen since it more often happens there and forgot to put that, but other non-battle shounen have done it too. >Otoha is just lucky he isn't making her wear a dumb green jumpsuit.
Yet. I get the sense that this Otto is a vain man. He'll find a reason to wear the green spandex

this is likely only going to be a one or two volume manga, so there is no real need to go back on it.

Official? Who fricking knows. If marvel is in sync, they'd time it to release with spiderverse home. Fan? Also who fricking knows. None of the scanlators in my orbit have signed on.
There is no substitute for learning japaneese.
based Miguel giving Otto his perfect 2D wife, most can only dream of an AI so supportive
Anna Marie is the cutest emergency interface out there, and quite concerned about Otto's spider related OCD. She also is quite concerned about his immenent death. >And she cant wait. Somewhere in the world when she wake up next. She will get to see him. Beyond life and death.
Stark can suck tentacle.
Is Superior Spiderman popular in japan or something?
They barely know doc ock. Maybe from the sega game
Somebody pointed out that besides lead bully girl having Vulture's collar, the frizzy haired girl with shark teeth has a lightning bolt pin
We might be getting e-girlster Six
I am not a weeb or a moon man but it's something about how he doesn't want to see even a villain like Otto die, and the city will be too quiet without him. Then last panel "or not".
Otoha-chan kawaii~
why did she came out of the tentacle?

I definitely see it now in the spread..

Is Doc Ock sharing a body with Otoha? I wish I could read moon
Looks like Doc Ock cut Otoha's hair. Sad, I liked the Emergence look. Also what was going on with the backpack? Seems like it just kinda appeared out of nowhere.
Otto says he has underground bases in Tokyo (I guess implying has has them in many major cities) with his equipment in
That implies he's still in his own world. Given the way Isekai's normally work I would have assumed he'd get sent to another universe.
He's 100% in his own world. It's not an isekai. They watch the news report about his own body going into a coma in NYC
I think this still falls into the realm of Isekai stuff. Maybe. I'm not an expert here.
Body swap drama really. Do people call Your Name an isekai? I don't think so

I'm pretty sure Doc Ock and Spider-Man are "of Western origin" and thus allowed.
Also, take your meds, anon.
I guess spiderman is not Cinemaphile
Damn, that old geezer is a colonizer
Wait, the girl gets hit by a truck?
I was expecting Otto to be hit by the truck and wake up as a e-girl.
ToT
Cute! I hope it does well.
Surprised they had the Anna Maria AI. I expected something less directly related to a particular specific era of Otto.
I can read Japanese

Ok, chill bro.
Don't say something so fricking dumb then. Frick it never mind
I looked at the chapter in the morning and the text volume seemed low. Now on a retake it appears that I was wrong. Sorry, bro.
>Huh? It's pretty short, is japanese really that hard?
Yes. And Otto is a long winded pompous ass. And there's weird 2099 super science.
I have trouble getting my IME to even hit some of the weird characters he uses on his internal thoughts. It makes it stand out starkly from Otoha.
>HE THINKS TO HIMSELF.
vs
>HE DWELLS UPON HIS INTERNAL COGITATIONS.
Don't sweat the technique. I'm having trouble reading some of that shit even from the raws.

Otto was Peter, now Otto is a girl, what crazy adventures will Otto's brain go to next?
Why does japan get actual superhero comics while we get kamala khan dead
This is not an actual superhero comic. It’s Doc Ock in a girl body attacking bullies and a truck.
literally better than what most of marvel is producing in the west

Yes, I know
can you earnestly recommend any ongoing western produced comics in the year 2023
Sure. But every time I list them people just go “durrr it’s shit”

Uoh!!! Octodicky!!!
Hey, it's Anna Marie
Anna Marie 2.0!
Chotto Otto.
Clever and funny.
Is Superior Spiderman popular in japan or something?
Black Cat absolutely deserved this and I'm tired of pretending she didn't.
I miss him so much.
>That time Peter Parker was plowing midgets
A magical time
My god, he made his waifu an AI.
So is anyone translating this? It has been ages since I've looked for Cinemaphile scanlations.
Viz translates all their stuff for free now, online calendar doesn't have it listed yet though but probably friday at 11 est.
I wouldn't hold your breath, that deadpool thing didn't get an official translation until it was finished and released in volumes.
viz didn't have the marvel license when deadpool samurai was releasing chapters.

Brainwave maybe isn't ideal as a translation for seishin-ha actually. That's too regular. Seishin-ha is more like psychic brainwaves.
How are they going to get things back to normal i don’t like that an innocent girl got superior’d just because some truck god decided to put otto’s soul in her body
Oh so Gwen's poster is revealing that Otto is a trans girl kid
How come she didn't keep her cute hair and now is boyish?
Japan is transphobic and doesn't honor her pronouns
Otto's does it OVER her objections. He thinks it looks good. And he has TERRIBLE FASHION SENSE.
The solution to a shitposter isn't to be a shittier poster anon.

One of my favorite comic of all time is a school shonen that doesn't suffer from any of that.

Will it turn out that Adrian Toomes has yet another grandkid in Japan?

You know what, maybe the haircut was worth it.
Well I could've posted Homura, but that usually makes people even angrier.
Otto gave a middle schooler a bowlcut it's not only worth it it's hilarious.
>Otto's first villainous act in Otoha's body was to attack her bullies
It's hard to view Ock as a bad guy when he does things I agree with
little shits had it coming
based, I forgot about this
I filliped through it and hope Viz translates it
BUT WHY DID OTTO CUT THE HAIR
SHE WAS CUTE THE WAY SHE WAS
Speaking of Japanese comics. Did the Superman food book ever get uploaded anywhere?
raws have been online for ages
>not an isekai
>still dogshit
ALL RISE FOR THE SUPERIOR ANTHEM
THE DIE IS CAST!
When will the english translation come?
Official? Who fricking knows. If marvel is in sync, they'd time it to release with spiderverse home. Fan? Also who fricking knows. None of the scanlators in my orbit have signed on.
There is no substitute for learning japaneese.
They barely know doc ock. Maybe from the sega game
Somebody pointed out that besides lead bully girl having Vulture's collar, the frizzy haired girl with shark teeth has a lightning bolt pin
We might be getting e-girlster Six
The Sinister Schoolgirls?
>Sinister Schoolgirls
That would actually be really funny
Sinister Sex
lol. Please don't get canned I want to see that shit
>chubby gyaru's sidetail makes a hair 'horn'
it's happening
Can't wait to meet Mysterio's counterpart.
DRAMA CLUB PRESIDEN MYSATO MYSTERIO CHAN.
SUMO CLUB MEMBER RINA RHINO CHAN
SWIM CLUB MEMBER SUIDO CHAN.
Mysterio will be the only male one.
I'm looking forward to Otto's invitation to the team being interpreted as some kind of romantic gesture.
Or....
>e-girl Mysterio looks like Gwen Stacy
>gets turned into a cute girl
>ruins it with lame haircut
Into the trash it goes.
Kinda nice to see a gender-swap where the guy doesn't immediately adopt girly habits
I would sooner wear pigtails than a fricking bowlcut.
i think the reason i like all these silly big 2 manga is because they remind me of silver age comics. silver age dc in particular.
I will never forgive this criminal scum for cutting the e-girl's hair
Alright true believers. Which characters should Japan make into little girls next?
And he did it GLEEFULLY!
>And he did it GLEEFULLY
The absolute monster
You wouldn´t e-girl Otto, right?
I literally would old man Otto, nothing is stopping me
Not after what he did to her hair. She looks like a cross-dressing shota now.
But, the dicky is still there.
nah, there are multiple layers of "I'm not into that" at play here
Why does
why does peter look like a muppet?
What's he talking about here?
I am not a weeb or a moon man but it's something about how he doesn't want to see even a villain like Otto die, and the city will be too quiet without him. Then last panel "or not".
Daw, they are boyfriends 🙂
He's american
She´s only 14!
