>A Native American exists and wears the clothes of his people with pride while also saving others >This is somehow problematic
I know you're joking but I never understood this. The same crowd stating you should be happy about representation are also angry about them being depicted in any kind of medium.
Reminds me of that image of how to draw asians and the answer being you just draw them like white people because drawing an actual asian with any characteristics was considered racist.
I believe I can elaborate for OP. See it's not so much his look or gimmick, but the name that Native Americans are/were upset with. "Apache Chief" is an issue because of all of the numerous tribes that exist out there, and they feel umbrellaed under one. It'd be like if you said all Asians are the same or something. Though Apache Chief doesn't really stir much outrage these days given his obscurity and of course....well, Native Americans are a small community unfortunately.
I like his reworked name "Long Shadow" better anyway. They should totally do more with him and leave his tribe ambiguous
>And by Native American you mean lily White liberals in gated communities
As a Native American. I can confirm it’s proto-Latinx bullshit. Now all native Americans are welfare drug addicts on tv instead of bad ass wise warriors.
>is an issue because of all of the numerous tribes that exist out there, and they feel umbrellaed under one.
But MCU black panther was based on several different african tribes that are genetically and culturally far more divided than native american tribes are to each other.
MCU Black Panther was just "representation" for african-americans who don't know or care about any of that. That mish-mash Wakanda didn't even represent comics Wakanda well.
>"Apache Chief" is an issue because of all of the numerous tribes that exist out there, and they feel umbrellaed under one
What if he is a chief and is Apache? I mean, why this would be an umbrella?
If I call a character "homosexual San Franciscan", no one from the other parts of the bay should be offended.
There is very little good Indian representation because most of them resent their people being genocided and then fetishized as bad guys or as one more check box on the rainbow coalition. There's a reason Jackie Marks was able to pass his shit off for so long, and its because he offered fabricated "street cred" after Sacheen Littlefeather called Hollywood out on their Indian representation at the Oscars.
Apache Chief's was already explained. Indigenous people of other tribes felt they were not properly being represented. Not every Native American was Apache.
Mammy is just le black woman in the 50s.
>Not every Native American was Apache.
under that logic, not every asian is japanese so all characters with "ninja" or "samurai" should be banned or renamed?
It's literally not offensive and the argument "still" is just repetition. Mexicans aren't even offended at Slowpoke Rodriguez you fricking moron. Stop being offended for people who aren't you, you are not that important.
the only people who are ever offended by anything are white women with rich husbands because they are the only ones with enough free time to sit around and get offended by things
Yet another 'only upper-class white neoliberals living in gated communities get offended by' character.
They tried to ban him during the last wave of political correctness in the early 90s but there was an uproar by Mexicans cause they loved the character.
WB is just full of these. how did they even manage Fifi in the reboot?
Of course it's still ok to mock the French because we're an Anglo culture at heart.
Stop being offended on behalf of other people. If it doesn't attack you then it's none of your business and it's actually intrusive to jump in like you're some hero defending this poor little minority group. If they think it's offensive they'll complain for themselves.
bump
This seems like good Native American representation.
yikes

>last part
yikes that's pretty sad, honestly.
Long Shadow works because he was literally in universe created to be token diversity for a government superhero group parodying the Super Friends.
I hate Cadmus and everything about it
>is an issue because of all of the numerous tribes that exist out there, and they feel umbrellaed under one.

That’s a loophole because Wakanda is a fictional culture where you can do whatever
MCU Black Panther was just "representation" for african-americans who don't know or care about any of that. That mish-mash Wakanda didn't even represent comics Wakanda well.
If you made an Asian character and named him “Korean Star” nobody would care.
I mean, they kinda have to pick a tribe. 'Ambiguous indian' is actually racism in practice.
I get this one but
I don't understand this one.
She black

They all hate the Apache, even more than people hate San Fransicans

Sacheen Littlefeather was a pretendian herself with no native ancestry.
TOMÁS!
She was kinda hot
She was allegedly rich and owned the house.
she was never implied to be a maid or indentured servant or anything. anybody who came to this conclusion is the one with the problem.
It’s a good thing they never showed her face, because I’m pretty sure we know what that would’ve looked like
I am sure there is a breif moment.
I don’t get it?
Is it offensive to have people of different races?
Apache Chief's was already explained. Indigenous people of other tribes felt they were not properly being represented. Not every Native American was Apache.

Start the fricking petition, Kim.
MY LAP!
>WOOP WOOP WOOP WOOP WOOP WOOP
Believe it or not they actually played this short on boomerang 3 years ago. And here I was thinking it got banned lol.
Oh, so that's how you spell it?
>Believe it or not they actually played this short on boomerang
People actually watched Boomerang?
Netflix in action
>apache chief
>long shadow
what's wrong with "totem"?
nothing will make this ok
Actual Mexicans don't feel offended about Speedy.
still
You're white imirite?
Or hunting for (You)s, cause only twitter tourists or trolls don't know everybody loves Speedy, specially Mexicans.
It's literally not offensive and the argument "still" is just repetition. Mexicans aren't even offended at Slowpoke Rodriguez you fricking moron. Stop being offended for people who aren't you, you are not that important.
You can't be offended at Slowpoke Rodriguez cause he carries a gun
Hittn'em corners innem low lows, giirrrlll.
the only people who are ever offended by anything are white women with rich husbands because they are the only ones with enough free time to sit around and get offended by things

You have not been an anglo culture since france paid for your independence, now go dance can can and eat french fries like a good american
It's freedom fries you frog, why do you hate America? We've eliminated French references to everything due to your continued cowardice.
WB is just full of these. how did they even manage Fifi in the reboot?
By making her boring.
Must be really hurtful for rhinos to be associated with israelites
Look into Rataxes from Babar.
turning him into magic armor Iron Man was genius. Mcu version is also good.
Armoured Adventures unironically should be the template for Iron Man in regards to the rogues
>Asian character does Kung Fu: STEREOTYPING!
>Non Asian does kung fu: CULTURAL APPROPRIATION!
correct. it's like saying all white people are racist cucks.
They are though
Why are you by proxy insulting the people they conquered?
The holiday of the lion
>Africa seconds before europe starts selling them guns
and china offering unrepayable loans
The entire cast of Minoriteam.
Heh, chief got his tepee back. Case dismissed.
Stop being offended on behalf of other people. If it doesn't attack you then it's none of your business and it's actually intrusive to jump in like you're some hero defending this poor little minority group. If they think it's offensive they'll complain for themselves.
Which one's worse?
LOOK AT THOSE AMAZING BOOBAS ON THAT BLACK BEAUTIFUL AFRICAN QUEEN!!!
Where is left from?
I don't feel offended by either.
70's was the best one.
I gather this was either cut or never actually used in the finished product.
Why did they change her picture? It used to show her face.
Post an actual character, you racist.
No
>Offensive
There are far worse portrayals of Native Americans, and you chose the least offensive one.
Work on your material.
>Mexican is orange like a Nacho Cheese Dorito
Never seen one of those movies set in Mexico? There's always all that Cheeto dust flying everywhere and yellowed filters. Looks like a hellhole.
Dyani is clearly the best one
I WISH I WERE IN LAND OF COTTON
