"[There were] reports, diagrams, blueprints of exactly that accident which they investigated for two years," he said. "And so, we knew exactly the distances and we duplicated all the distances.
And in its ordinariness of how it's shot, the content is fully meaningful. It's a horror, and it's also real, so completely authentic. So I wanted that. I wanted to shoot this exactly the same way, which is just to let the meaningfulness in the frame.
"There's no trickery, there's not a lot of fast cutting, [not] a lot of nifty camera angles or any of that... I think it's dramatically more powerful"
Mann has dementia, I think
I was reading the wikipedia article on this guys death and it sounds much less dramatic than this. If that was the case why did they make it so ridiculously over the top? Seems kinda in poor taste to make it a CG spectacle if he just spun out into people
>couldn't be assed to remove the giant hydraulic piston smoke cloud which flips the car over even though everything is a giant cgi mess
Lmao
I guess part of it was practical or what?
I'd be willing to suspend disbelief that everything is happening so fast that they don't even have time to react, but it's hurt by the fact that it begins with such an over the top disaster of physics prior to.
why didn't they animate the CGI people to be in a panicked state as the car was flying towards them?
Even if a giant crowd of people gets hit by a ricocheting car, not all of them would die instantly like they do in that webm. A lot of moronic stuff happening there
I wonder if anyone tells the director that they don't have the budget to make this shot look good so he should film it in a different way.
Even Kubrick listened to the special effects guys in 2001 so that the space ships would look as good as possible.
or do they lie and tell the director it will look great and when he gets the cgi back to look at its kind of too late and they just have to leave it in the shot?
CGI gets done super late now. So unless they wanted to do reshoots after seeing the final version I don't think there's much to be done. One movie had different versions of itself in theaters iirc. I think it was cats where the special effects weren't even completely done when it came to theaters and later showings had "better" cgi.
You talking about an indian fx studio, of course they lie and tell their customers everything is going to work and will be delivered as ordered. They're the biggest scammers on the planet.
I was just browsing Cinemaphile, I opened up this webm and I honestly thought I was still on Cinemaphile and this was a clip from a video game until I read the replies. I was thinking "damn, that looks pretty good for a game!"
Why didn't they just watch some rally accident clips to see how it actually looks and do it right? People start panicking instantly and get flattened in a different way
Blackhat and episode 1 of Tokyo Vice were kino. Feels like Ferrari just had a nightmare production, guess we'll see when Heat 2 comes out if this film broke him.
Doesn't matter. Adam has another 5 starring roles already locked in. >audiences don't like him >critics don't like him >no awards >no box office
What a weird career. There are no journalists in entertainment anymore, but maybe somebody will write an article about this weird time in 10 years or something
Critics always praise Driver's performances, and they're objectively good. The most important part is the directors like him. One thing directors who are interested in cinema as an art hate is diva actors because they always interfere with the vision. And most Hollyslop actors are complete divas. Driver on the other hand obviously seems to just do the job that is required of him without issue.
Made it by transitioning from a smalltime stage actor to a TV guy to a box office slop money maker to a kino guy doing whatever he wants and working with legendary directors

He hates watching his movies and his performances. I agree with Driver there.
I know, right? Why are his fangirls so annoying? >oh no, somebody slightly criticized my favorite millionaire, HEEEELP
It's not like his movies are any good, they keep talking about his great acting ability, but it's just not there.
Who was in the wrong here?
The engineer for making his bumper out of flubber...
ywn,baw
me for forgetting to toggle idle animations
Nothing happens the entire film then this. Bravo Mann
GTA has more realistic physics than this

>we knew exactly the distances
>we duplicated all the distances
Makes sense tbh.
holy fuk is that real
The crowd keep clapping as the car smashing into them
They had slow reflexes
I'd keep clapping too, louder
The great debate
That one doesn't look too bad 2bh
Are you blind?
That's just edited very badly
He didn’t fly so good!
>Road abruptly switches from dirt to paved
>Car switches from a Jaguar S-Type to a Jaguar X-Type and back again
what is this from? looks ridiculous. i like that the lorry driver had a car crash into his bumper and just kept driving for another 50-100 metres.
It is very hard for a large truck to stop while going up hill. Kek
just fricking stop
this is shot and edited just like a fricking Austin Powers movie, even the perfectly comedically timed explosion at the end LMAO

Bollywood tier
Now this makes sense
why didn't they animate the CGI people to be in a panicked state as the car was flying towards them?

Indian VFX studio
Love how they're still clapping as they're getting flattened

They should just film the scene like they had no cgi and then go back and use the cgi to clean up any of the problems
You talking about an indian fx studio, of course they lie and tell their customers everything is going to work and will be delivered as ordered. They're the biggest scammers on the planet.
extremely israeli direction
The crowd look like fake statues.
Holy shit, this is the worst cgi ive ever seen. Wtf is this trash from?
I was just browsing Cinemaphile, I opened up this webm and I honestly thought I was still on Cinemaphile and this was a clip from a video game until I read the replies. I was thinking "damn, that looks pretty good for a game!"

Mann studied this accident and perfectly recreated it, according to him.
>AHHHHHHHHHH
When did Mann lose it?
blackhat slowed him down but apparently everyone didn't like public enemies
He never had it. So there's nothing to lose.
Blackhat and episode 1 of Tokyo Vice were kino. Feels like Ferrari just had a nightmare production, guess we'll see when Heat 2 comes out if this film broke him.
TV adverts about drunk driving look more realistic
>shit shit shit
>is that a little bit of brake I smell?
Why is his face black?
another box office flop for driver and mann
Doesn't matter. Adam has another 5 starring roles already locked in.

No, they don't. Driver can't act. Doesn't matter. He's friends with all the important Hollywood pedophiles now.
This is nonsense. His performances are always good.
He's not going to have sex with you
Yeah I dont get Cinemaphiles hateboner for him
Is it because he's goofy looking but made it despite that?
Made what? Horrible movies that nobody besides his industry friends likes? Lmao
Made it by transitioning from a smalltime stage actor to a TV guy to a box office slop money maker to a kino guy doing whatever he wants and working with legendary directors

Who gives a frick?
And they have another film coming up together, Heat 2 lmao
Sara Gadon is Box Office poison
Driver certainly is due to his bad acting
what a pretty FlatOut screenshot, thank you foo the memories!
>OH NIG-
HAHAHAHAHAHA, quick lock that arm
