Characters in Rebels showed emotions, had chemistry and acted like human beings, and the dialogue was better (because Filoni was not actually writing scripts), and animated alien characters will always look infinitely better than walled 3DPD with shitty makeup.

Dave Filoni makes cartoons for children. Yes, adults watched Rebels too, but the vast majority of the audience was children, and that's fine. When they made the decision that Ahsoka was going to be an extension of Rebels in live action they doomed themselves because 1) fewer people have watched rebels than have read any of the Thrawn books and 2) trying to glow up the characters and make them seem more adult when they were created for children is just bizarre, like if Atomic Blonde was a Kim Possible movie. It just doesn't work, and don't let anyone tell you that it does.
Ahsoka was supposed to save Star Wars and if anything it's the final indictment against Disney's stewardship of it. Out of all the suggestions fans have made for how to save Star Wars, the solution Disney went with was to turn it into a children's cartoon in live action.

Mando should have had a conflict with Bo-Katan over the throne, as hinted at the end of S2, S3 should have been Game of Thrones but with Mandalorians, it should have explored Mandalorian culture and history in-depth, and it should have completed Din's arc as a reluctant but honorable guy who didn't want to lead, but accepted that burden. You know, the obvious hero's journey and call to fricking action. But instead, Book of Boba Fett undid the previous two seasons of The Mandalorian, and S3 killed any and all setup from S2 and rendered everything pointless. Shit writing and corporate meddling is what killed Mandalorian, not tying into bigger universe. It's how they used these ties that matters.

I think that's a problem with all of Star Wars EU in general. There's the horror novel Death Troopers, halfway through it Han and Chewie show up out of the blue, I think it's systematic that various writers believe a character from the films or at least one people recognize needs to be put in the story for people to care or et you interested.
