To be fair the monsters don't seem sentient (I'm not a yugioh lore expert don't kill me). Maybe if they've done something like Fate/Stay night where the heroes come from another dimension, and the only way for them to stay in said dimension is to form contracts with ordinary people, it might of worked.
Heck, even the holograms can react. One guy talking about how he's going to sacrifice his own Dark Magician as some sort of taunt to Yugi and his Dark Magician turns around and is like wtf?
Yeah depending on the season the monster represent real beings from another dimension or the card just have a soul of their own and can actually hurt and react to the duel
What, in YuGiOh? You summon monsters from another dimension using your life force, and if the monster is killed you feel the pain when your life force is taken.
Oh, that. >With help from Japan's Dr. Nozomu Akatsuki, Iron Man develops a new device called the Digital Identity Securement Kit, known as DISKs for short, designed to help the cause of stopping and detaining villains. However, whilst presenting the DISK project on the Raft, the villainous Loki appears and uses the very same DISKs to launch a breakout of all the captured villains, trapping Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Wasp inside DISKs as well. Nozomu's sons, Akira and Hikaru, along with three other children, Edward, Chris, and Jessica, come to possess these DISKs and obtain biocodes, allowing them to bring out these superheroes for a short period of time. Teaming up with the Avengers, the group travel across the world to search for DISKs before they fall into the wrong hands.

The Avengers got trapped on disks and the kids have to collect them and summon them like pokemon but they are still real living people

It can work with the Hulk I think
He usually has a wrangler
It was pogs with marvel characters. The show was alright, it was about how Tony and the kid’s scientist dad made a machine that trapped supervillains in pogs, because they kept breaking out of regular prisons. Then some villains try to steal machine during a big shield event where a bunch of heroes are present and everyone gets put into the pogs, but only a group of five kids can unleash the heroes because they got hit with some energy or something. There was also a villain group called the celebrity five, even though technically only three of them would count a celebrities, who were a bunch of idiots convinced into helping out with the caper who got the same ability as the kids and used the villain pogs.
Wasp was cute
>we want the pokemon audience.
that show is so weird to think about considering that they were people.
Yugioh does it and no one bats an eye

Depends on the arc.
Yeah, sometimes just holograms, sometimes beings from another dimension and sometimes straight up human souls

I'd assumed that's how it was, more or less like Fate. How DOES it work then?

I'm talking about the Marvel thing.
