For no previous reason they decided to make Quagmire hate Brian that episode and on, out of nowhere. Peter deadpan tells Brain Quagmire hates him first thing that episode and it makes zero sense cause they hardly interacted the last 7 seasons. Just awful direction turning Quagmire into an unlikable butthole who hates his friends (not just Brian) from that episode on.

I hate things like this in fiction. I can't describe it, but it's like with enough foresight they could have set up Brian as a character solely for Quagmire to deliver this line. They're basically just pointing out the moral flaws in a character they themselves wrote, as if it needed to be spelled out.
