Ok, so I just started watching Twin Peaks.
After three attempts, I finished episode 1, with a better understanding of what is going on each viewing.
Is it normal that I had a hard time keeping up with the names and what was going on? is that the Twin Peaks experience?
I'm familiar with David Lynch, saw Dune, Mullholand Dr and Eraserhead, so I knew what I was getting into, but here, I was getting lost on plot details, on who's who, not like in his films where I get lost on the surrealness of it.

Trying to follow Twin Peaks is like being really fricking high and trying to follow Twin Peaks, only you're not high, Twin Peaks is.
Are you moronic?
sock my dick
Have you ever been tested for brainletism?
>Ok, so I just started watching Twin Peaks
You shouldn't have, it's shit
>After three attempts, I finished episode 1,
I only tried once, couldn't finish it. Way too many identical characters, constant smoking, nothing fricking happening. Was promised a mystery story with supernatural elements but there was no mystery and no supernatural elements. It was just shit. How do people watch this trash?
Mid tier bait which still puts you above 80% of the "trolls" here, well done
I guess there's a lot of character introduction in the pilot but you don't need to memorize all the names and stuff in the first hour of the show, you'll get better at remembering them as you keep watching.
>as you keep watching
There is nothing in the first episode to make anyone watch a second.
Is this "show" a joke and people talk about it like it's good as a joke?
>Is it normal that I had a hard time keeping up with the names and what was going on?
You're baiting, right?
well its true, I mean the thing starts with a wounded detective on the floor, and then with some dudes doing something in a red room, no context given, and only then we get the actual plot.
>the thing starts with a wounded detective on the floor, and then with some dudes doing something in a red room
that's how season 2 starts
the s2 premiere is peak Lynch fricking with the audience, rivaled only by Dougie being the main character of the Return
Lol op starts a show on season 2, has no idea what's going on, blames the show. Pottery.
There's like 15 characters who are all the same and most of whom look like each other. There were at least three guys I thought were the same guy for most of it
Facts are bait?
>Was promised a mystery story with supernatural elements but there was no mystery and no supernatural elements.
>t. didn't even watch the pilot all the way through let alone the series proper where those element start to get introduced and move to the forefront
Just watch a movie if you have a short attention span like this.
>yeah, there may be nothing happening except advertising smoking in the first episode
>just wade through twenty more episodes of this shit then it gets good
Yeah, the praise for this "show" must be a joke. There's no fricking way
>then it gets good
I never said it gets "good", lol, it's still Twin Peaks, and "good" is entirely subjective anyway
Have a (You)
If you don’t enjoy it from the beginning you won’t enjoy it anymore when the supernatural stuff starts getting confirmed. It’s still the same show, same acting, same characters. It’s just the situation changes as they learn more about the murder case and it’s real cause. But half the fun of the show is all the soap opera love triangle storylines and everything going on behind closed doors. DL said that was one of the things he likes to explore in his work.
>the fun of the show is all the soap opera love triangle storylines
Oh, it's trash for gays/women. That explains it.
No it’s a parody of those things so it’s fun. It’s not actually Days of Out Lives or w/e. Just accept it isn’t for you, not everything then was designed for everyone by a marketing group like it is now. You could have weird niche stuff and a small audience.
Twin Peaks is too surreal and difficult to grasp. You should have started with this.
Honestly just skip right to The Return it's the best thing ever made
>tried 4 times to marathon the first 15 minutes of the new season (I don't watch stuff from before I was born)
>fail every time
It's shit.
I binged the first 2 seasons in 4 days. It took me a couple tries to really get into it though. I do think the killer reveal is kinda cheap. It is cool how so much of the red room early reveal pays off. But the Bob spirit possessing Leland just didn’t work for me. The creepiest thing i found was that bird talking. I hate the way it says “laura” It also dragged on a bit too long in the second season. I don’t think it’s that confusing. Just think of it as a soap opera with weird things going on.
Yes the women are beautfiul. I would Shelly and Audrey so fricking hard
>It also dragged on a bit too long in the second season.
The worst bit of s2 for me is the magic sunglasses that make whoever wears them a bad girl
Michael Eisner forced David Lynch to reveal the killer early and then he ragequit for most of the second season. Have you seen the movie?
Bob Iger is who I meant.
That was a good thing. Frick Lynch trying to be JJ Abrams with his stupid mystery boxes. Put up or shut up, Twin Peaks is only known because it has an ending that cultivated its fanbase.
>Twin Peaks is only known because it has an ending that cultivated its fanbase.
It's only known because it's crazy as shit, nearly impenetrable, and unique for the time it came out. And "so bad it's good" in a lot of spots, especially in s2.
>That was a good thing
>show's ratings plummets as soon as the killer is revealed
Also "trying to be JJ Abrams" lol fricking zoomer, more like JJ Abrams is trying to be David Lynch. Twin Peaks is the OG mystery show.
For there to be a mystery you have to give a shit about the victim or suspects. But they were all terrible, I didn't care she was dead but was upset whoever it was didn't kill the rest of them
>didn't care she was dead or who killed her
I had this conversation with a friend. That LOST is the modern version of Twin Peaks viewing. Back then people would meet at their friends, have coffee and donuts together and try and figure out the mystery of things. LOST shows what happens in a post internet society. All that stuff was going on but its now on a much bigger scale and on forums instead. I wonder if the internet was bigger when Twin Peaks came out it may have been more popular.
No that’s next on my list. That sucks though. I was surprised to see I had 10 episodes or w/e to go after the reveal. I pretty much watched it for 8 hours a day 4 days straight so needed a break from the town for a bit. I was hearing the theme song in my dreams lol. It is a amazing piece of media though. Even the over the top acting is fitting with the weirdness and becomes endearing. Also if I was DL I would self insert to kiss Shelly as well.
Turn on subtitles. You are a prime candidate for this as it helps to remember the names. Enjoy your show! Also never skip the intro, it is so soulful
JAAAAAST YEEEEEEEEW ANNNND EYYYYYEEEEEEE
What a cool dude!
>Because your skin is so soft and you smell so good?
>Is it normal that I had a hard time keeping up with the names and what was going on? is that the Twin Peaks experience?
i think you're just moronic
I've never watched the pilot of a show and immediately remembered and known all of the names of the characters introduced. You get that with time.
I havent seen it in years but isnt he first episode or so pretty straightforward?
The pilot is one of the only episodes where you can see the parody in it fairly clear
Yeah that is what I remember, it just overtly feels like a bad soap opera but there is very little lynchness too it (beyond making a parody of this type of show being associated with him now)
it's really easy OP the important characters in the first few eps are:
Laura Palmer - the dead chick
Dale Cooper - the most based man on the planet despite being FBI
Harry Truman (like the president) - the sheriff that follows Cooper around
Bobby - Fivehead biker, Laura's former bf
Donna - Brunette, Laura's best friend
everyone else you'll figure out especially the sawmill stuff in ep 2.
James is the biker. Bobby is the guy with Shelly.
Why do all white people look alike? I mean wtf
Face blindness is a common symptom of autism.
>After three attempts, I finished episode 1
Yeah, don't bother with the show if it was this hard for you to get through the first ep.
Think of it like a slow 90s soap opera mixed with horror elements. It's slow paced and there's a lot left up to interpretation but it's worth the burn.
The sequel sucked.
I'm about halfway through Season 2 and I also had a hard time getting the names straight. laura and donna's name should be switched. Too many identical middle aged white people and high school girls with 90s triangle hair. Some of the storylines just seem to amount to "huh they cheatin on eachother." That being said I like the surreal and supernatural elements. The pacing of the mystery in Season 1 is perfect. I didn't like how quickly they revealed the killer in Season 2 and the reveal....I just don't see it still. A lot of filler in this season 2, still better than the Sopranos though.
Also blackie is the baddest b***h in the show.
It's all quite simple. Alan Thicke explained it all
?feature=shared&t=627
>Alan Thicke
The "Blurred Lines" guy?
You're thinking of his son
cool, treat it as if you had a premonition of what is to come. Don't drop the show.
LOL well that would do it. Start with the original series, then watch Fire Walk With Me the in-between movie it helps add some context.
Don’t forget the canon Japanese spin off OP.

INCREDIBLE
The important characters you need to remember are:
Laura Palmer and her parents
Agent Cooper
Sheriff Truman
Deputy Hawk (indian guy)
Audrey Horne (rich girl)
Ben Horne (hotel owner)
Catherine (old lady who hates Josie)
Josie (asian lady)
Donna (Laura's friend)
Bobby (Laura's boyfriend)
Leo (Shelly's redneck husband)
The other characters such as Big Ed and his eyepatch wife are not as important to the plot.
>The other characters such as Big Ed and his eyepatch wife are not as important to the plot.
Highly contentious statement.
How Annie
Diane real or no?
The real Diane is Naido, then after they defeat Bob she turns back into herself.
It must be hard being a zoomer. Keep it up!
Twin peaks honestly is total shit. It has some quirky moments but overall its terrible.
When you learn how inconsequential 95% of the characters are it seems like time wasting when they are on the screen.
That explains it. The pilot is a fairly normal mystery setup, at least in comparison lol.
I watched the last episode of Season 3 first on some pirate site. When I got to the finale and it was the same episode I thought Lynch was a ultra giga genius. He's just a Giga Genius tho when I found out the truth.
