Austin Powers IS like the kid who repeats the same joke over and over because you laughed once. Only it does this multiple times for five minutes each joke
First one has the most charm and arguably the most rewatchability.
Second and third have funnier individual gags, but also a LOT of jokes that don't land, and even some of the good bits aren't as funny on rewatch
The third one is the most entertaining, one had charm, but two suffers from breaking the 4th wall and shitty meta jokes that aged poorly. It was funny at the time, no doubt, mini-me fighting Austin cracked me up as a kid, but now it doesn't. A huge amount of the lines in goldmember are still funny and quotable.
I like the 2nd one because I think every scene at the Dr's volcano lair is funny. Dr Evil really shines in that one. I like Goldmember because Beyonce looks hot as frick in it
Yeah exactly. Parody has existed for a long fricking time. I dont even get what that was supposed to mean. Spaceballs came out in the 80s. Monty Python parodized all of British history in the 70s. Parody isn't a millennial thing nor is explaining the joke intentionally for ironys sake. Mel Brooks built a career on that
Can I even do the >boomers pissed themselves with laughter
meme? This was the late 90's. THE LATE NINETIES. Okay maybe a parody of a 60's movie could work. But THIS? Fricking hell. No one can be so easily amused.
I hate to be the "This couldn't be made today gay." But I'm honestly surprised the series still promoted given the current climate. Something as tame as the Fembots or "Alata gayina" wouldn't fly in a modern movie.
Yeah it's gonna be frickin horrible, which really sucks because goldmember laid out the perfect setup. Scott becomes the new Dr evil and Dr evil is riding with the boys this time. Oh, what could have been
That would be pretty great if they honored the last movie. It would be opposite of the Luke/Vader which is pretty silly to. Scotty could try to corrupt Dr evil and play the “son” card. I can see Dr evil actually betraying Austin and then last second betraying Scotty at the end
That exhausted "I get it okaaaay calm down" depressed single mom mentality is what stifles creativity

First one had so much charm. It felt like the sequels completely missed the point of it
I like all of them
Second I'd my favorite
true, but the third one is probably the funniest

This. Fat Bastard, in particular, suffers from seriously diminishing returns; even if he was the most memeable thing about the second movie.
Yeah he sucks. I thought he was funny when I was like, 8. That's a good way to describe his character
The opening sequence in IMoM is unironically hype and if anything the cutaway between scenes with random dancing and funky camerawork were great too

Also; if you've got an issue, here's a tissue
Beyonce was unbelievably sexy in gold member
These were from that awful millennial trend where you explained your jokes.
These movies pre-date millennials by a full decade
I was born when the second movie came out. Same year.
Yeah. Which means it wasn't inspired by a "trend" that came out the year you were born or when millennials were children
See above
What do you mean? The Wayans Brothers were doing the Parody schtick years before the Austin Powers movies

Why'd they cut out the barf scene?
How much is the new one gonna suck?
I can't even begin to imagine
I’m guessing it will be horrible.

Of all the Boomer/Gen X soft rebootquel attempts this last decade, the comedies have been the most unbearable of all.
Picture Austin Powers with fricking Ghostbusters reboot vibes. It's gonna be cringe and memberberries as far as the eye can see.
