The show being canon means when they ruin the West Coast and Nevada (the whole fricking Fallout universe) it ruins all hope of ever getting a real Fallout 4 (the real Fallout 3 was New Vegas)

For all we know, Vegas may only recently have ended up that way, meaning the house ending could technically have been canon for over a decade.
