see, traditional looks really really good but i dont mind digital if there is actually effort put into it and sometimes it works very good in favour of the show. take futurama for example, you can expand the show with some neat CGI scenes and they will blend in very well with the style of the show and the digital drawn images. see the new beavis and butthead for example and how awful it looks when you have it done poorly, where it theoretically could work well with the shows simple style.

The story goes in a different and less interesting direction once psychic assassins are introduced, all the squad is killed off so there's no more teamwork just Angel Cop b***hing and screaming and the Japanese robocop doing a by the numbers cyborg story. The detective has a plot that's barely fleshed out and feels like filler for the author to drop all his ebin redpills.

I've watched a lot of ova schlock and Angel Cop doesn't cut the mustard. Watch something like Iria Zeiram, or the Patlabor movies if you want something actually classy. Cyber City Oedo is way better too for hardboiled cyber crime. Wicked City or Demon City Shinjuku for something edgy with breasts.
Genocyber is a series that starts with a couple of interesting ideas that goes nowhere, and gets progressively worse with each installment.
What was the anime featuring a detective or police guy tasked getting a daughter that was kidnapped, when he handed over the daughter, the client father exclaimed that it was not his daughter but it is an android. It all happened in the same episode. I remember the art style looks like batman cartoons but it was definitely an Japanese anime.

They had different color sensibility, the cels it was drawn on added a texture, they definitely liked using thick to thin linework and hatching more than the thin-consistent 99% cel shaded 99% of the time look we see in modern stuff.
They also didn't exaggerate the faces as much in a lot of shows unless it was for a few frames of reaction faces here and there for comedic effect. Older anime characters looked a lot more like actual Asians before they started stylizing the frick out of everything and then you had a whole generation learning to draw based on exaggerated shit that traditional technique. Same thing happened with western comics where everyone was learning to draw comics by looking at other comics so that by the 90s there were a lot of wacky styles and some seriously fricked up anatomy.
