Only one works and it makes less sense by the end of the show.

Gravity Falls, and it makes less sense because Mabel never gets any accountability for her actions, and Lost Legends does not count

These shows are all gay and shitty and don't come close to the writing and character arcs in shows like Gargoyles or Batman TAS or even something much more recent like Avatar.

Telling the audience this moment is sad by having the characters cry is the equivalent of a laugh track to let you know when a joke happened. I'm not going to say you can NEVER have crying during an emotional moment; but all those Disney scenes are pretty cliché compared to Muriel picking up Courage and going, "I'll call you Courage" or compared to The Simpsons' "Do It For Her".

Avatar mogs all of these combined.
You know why? Because it knows how to build up a fricking mood.
Imagine going into a show about goofy frogland or creepy Illuminati dude and then they suddenly pull this serious shit out of their asses.
No, I don't give a FRICK about King. He is a pointless comedy relief until the show decides to change its mind and say that he isn't.
Avatar starts with WAR, and GENOCIDE. It's not 100% serious because it's still a kid's show, but it knows how to keep taking the characters seriously.
Look at Sokka for example. He is just like King and Mabel, right? Just a dumb comedy relief kid, right? Wrong. His personality is funny in nature, but he grew up being left with the duty of protecting his village, and because of that, because of his insecurity and his dream of being like his father, he carries the whole fricking team with his intuition and bravery. He manages to make you laugh at his goofyness while you take him seriously as the cool ass warrior and strategist he is, and when these tense moments happen, you don't get cognitive dissonance because you know that he is worthy of having these moments.
This isn't even touching the iceberg. Iroh can make you laugh by being a funny uncle and then make you cry when he hugs Zuko. It works because he didn't spend the whole series being a comedic relief moron who just fricks around and shits all over himself.
Frick nu-cartoons and what they did to comedy. You wanna be a comedy show? Fine. Just don't expect me to take it seriously when fricking MABEL has a mental breakdown or some shit.

Fricking Saturday morning comedy cartoons had better emotional moments than this shit.

A cartoon trying to take itself more seriously does not mean it has "better writing". Hilarious how people led themselves to believe this

Many adult cartoon fans (who aren't also artists themselves) are genuinely autistic. The easy-to-read faces, the simple morals, the uncomplicated conversations, the bright colors with simple shapes-- it's the only time of socializing an autist can understand.

So naturally, when these cartoons have characters crying with big Ghibli tears as they spell out their emotions, this shit is fricking heartbreaking to them. They understand without a shadow of a doubt that the character is sad and why they're sad. Compare that to something like Showtime's "Kidding" where all the emotional arcs might baffle the average adult cartoon viewer.

I'm not saying this to be all, "LMAO cartoon fans are autistc", it's a real explanation.

I’m not saying cartoons should never be emotional ed edd n eddy did it well. The problem with newer cartoons like Steven universe is they try to have emotional moments in nearly every episodes. It just comes off as moronic crybait and not genuine emotion.

American animation is centered around riggers. They have holidays off for riggers. They fired hundreds of thousands of artists to accommodate riggers. They listen to rigger tutorials. They sketch and animate like riggers. They draw the entirety of modern animation from riggers. They post cartoon gifs made by riggers. They consoom products in worship of riggers. They use rigger slang like "frame rate" and "t-posing". Their biggest event of the year involves posting memes in honor of riggers winning awards. When you say "Faust" they're not thinking of the man who sold his soul to the devil. They're thinking of the rigger and her horse show. Their studios are completely overrun with riggers. They worship riggers like Justin Roiland and Zach Hadel and Vivziepop and the late Monty Oum while attacking the creators who actually built their industry before riggers took over. They send riggers to the Kids' Choice Awards and celebrate when the riggers win because those riggers are true red blooded corporate riggers. They watch rigger porn to a point where "Blender" does not make them think of a kitchen appliance but about a 3D rigger software instead. They will tell you how much they are just pretending to love riggers but the evidence speaks for itself in that animation will forever be an industry of rigger loving riggers
