Omni Man

He had it all. Loving wife, good son. Coworkers that respected him and yet he threw it all away. All of it. For an Empire that wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

    What killed the hype?

An unnecessary hiatus in the middle of the season after waiting like 3 years.

What was the reason btw, I don't even remember one

Oh please with Nolan's knowledge of the Empire and good ole Human badassery, they'd win.

What was he supposed to do? Earth's strongest heroes could barely put a dent on him, tf was he supposed to do against a small army of even stronger Viltrumites? Because even if he wanted to keep his cozy life that threat would always be looming in the background

        Plus, contact the coalition.

correction, an unnecesary focus on side characters nobody cares about, all the side jobbers are padding and people only want to watch about Nolan and the Viltrumites.

They managed to knock him out, the problem is they didn't have time to react and put up a proper defense.
If they did, the battle would have gone like it did in the alternate timeline where invincible shows up to warn the guardians and they man handle OmniMan.

                High IQ move

The turning point was when Red Rush foolishly decided to go on the offensive. If he acted purely in a support role, using his speed to move the slower and more fragile heroes out of the way of Nolan's attacks, I think they could have managed to put him down even with him having the element of surprise. War Woman's mace seemed to be genuinely fricking him up.

He probably thought he was helping to allow the rest of the team to process what was going on so they could go on the offensive themselves. Basically buying time.

And that's without Robot doing what he'd do later in the series. If Nolan let anyone know what's up, it'd be a bloodbath like Invincible War, but they'd only have to worry about Thragg and Conquest

The viltrumites were not exactly itching to come to Earth. He had free reign to take as long as he wanted with his 'conquest' before anyone was going to check up on him. The precipitating event was not his boss calling him up and telling him to get a move on already, it was Mark manifesting powers.
Nolan could have spilled the beans about the empire and let Earth have decades to prepare before his people found out anything had changed. Sired an entire army of Marks.

He had been serving for over a thousand years at that point and was one of their top agents. He genuinely believed his time on earth was some shitty distraction and persona because viltrimites don’t have relationships with others it was only when he was about to pummel mark into dust that he realized he really did care about his family and earth.

Speaking of whats your guys thoughts on the comics? I feel like the pacing in the show is better because the comic seems to just dive off into random fights with schmucks and I feel like the viltriumite war was just jumped into randomly theres no time between mark, nolan and the coalition all convening and preparing for the fight after nolan and allen gathered all of the weapons they just suddenly seemed to be in contact randomly.

Are the planets that accepted the Viltrimute rule actually improved their society? Like, superior tech, better healthcare, better protectors against alien threats, stuff like that as they claimed they would bring?
Or is it all just propaganda?

From the little we see those races are conscripted to fight more wars and that's it. Earth under evil Mark looked kinda shitty but they did have some super scientists.

They become vassals and even slaves come to think of it. As the other anon said, many are conscripted to fight their wars or to do garrison duties on each others world. Hell I kind of wished they explored Battle-beasts world once it came under Thraggs influence. From what is implied, it appears the world of BB is full of cowardly lions, too afraid to fight or die. Its just the phenomenon of BB that breaks the mold.
