Yeah, he's got to be in his sixties these days. That's some dedication.

I loved this shit as a kid. Don't know why it's so disliked. "Too mean spirited"?

Catdog's biggest sin is that it's just not very funny.

      It is unironically mean spirited.

"mean spirited" is a meaningless buzzword and is along the same lines of the sort of insane Karen that would glance at Looney Tunes and screech about it being horrifically violent.
fitting that IIRC that bullshit analytical attitude originated from Mr. Enter who is a confirmed mentally ill crazy frick.

I think it does have a lot of mean spirited episodes compared to other cartoons. That’s just how the characters acted, usually at least one person was being insufferable.

Humans like conflict and before all this touchy-feely bullshit took over everything cartoons were allowed to just be entertaining semi-nonsense at times when they weren't mandated to have a moral.
Whilst there's some mundane navel-gazing bullshit to be said about art imitating life and the other way around we all know that sometimes people are c**ts anon so stop acting like the cartoon (which is inherently supposed to be somewhat detached from reality) has to conform to the exact rules of reality it is deliberately detaching from

Or it could be, in this instance, derived from how
virtually every character in CatDog was a monumental butthole with few if any redeeming qualities, the main characters were hated by virtually every character, they almost never caught a break, and the show was in general very negative. They were probably aiming for black comedy, but that relies on having characters either fully deserving bad things happening tot hem, or for their to be times when characters actually succeed. cat and Dog, however, rarely succeeded at anything - they just suffered. Cat moreso, since you had the Greasers, who were more against Cat than Dog.

But no, be a dismissive, reductive c**t, silencing discussion by crying "buzzword" because some internet has-been pissed in your Cheerios. God forbid people talk about cartoons on the Comics & Cartoons board of this Mongolian basket-weaving forum, right?

notice how you actually engaged in discussion when your moronic buzzword was called out?

Kinda have to wonder if they even realized they were just straight up writing them as racist.

          nah mean spiritness exists
its why ed edd n eddy works because the main characters deserve shit happening to them
if it happens to someone innocent all the time for no reason it gets boring quickly and you already know each joke ahead of time

theres that story of it being ordered for like 6 seasons at the same time spongebob had like 1 or 2
figured the catdog crew resented not working on spongebob after it exploded

Depends on the season, prime SpongeBob is just too good

I think only the best of B&M or EE&E competes and even then I'm biased because the son of a shepard made me laugh a lot

I can't speak for everyone else but I liked it fine as a kid. It felt like it fit in well with the other Nicktoons but was never the start attraction like Rugrats or Spongebob was. A good supporting cartoon if you will.

      Cat is a selfish butthole.
Dog is a moron who is manipulated by cat, or who annoys cat for no good reason.
The Shadman mouse is an even bigger butthole.

Why should I watch shows about idiots and buttholes?

CatDog came out way too late. It was on of Nickleodeon's trademark "grossout humor" shows and debuted at the time when they were moving away from that, so it's not remembered as fondly as the grossout humor shows that premiered when that was actually popular.
