for a clive barker adaptation yes, but i had higher hopes for the director of versus
didnt admire how they didnt explain squat. >why did the butcher have growths? whyd he save them? >why did they cut off their tongues, they can still write the truth >why didnt the people in charge just tell the military so they can exterminate the monsters >how can they kill enough people to feed an entire civilization of monsters without raising suspicion

I don't know why they're reptilian monsters in the movie. They're more like ancient immortal liches who run NYC in the book. Or something like that anyway, it's been a long time since I read it.
Masters of Horror was such a brilliant concept that didn't quite deliver. I remember that the original pitch was that each episode was like a one hour movie but not a single one of them actually feels or looks like a movie. They feel and look like premium cable television. While that might be what they are they lack that cinematic touch in the writing and the cinematography which would propel it to being truly excellent.
most of them are horrible and thats because most horror directions are horrible. even the directors who made great horrors in the past were way passed their prime when they made their episodes.
Going way off from the stories they were adapting was my major issue with them. The Washingtonians was a great story, Bently Little is a great author, but the botched the hell out of it. Incident On and Off a Mountain Road is one of Joe Lansdale's shortest stories, but they changed too much and added a character that didn't need to be there. It's sad when you have a couple pages worth of story, which can be adapted easily, and they still find ways to wreck them.
Guy happens upon a lovecraftian type conspiracy involving human sacrifice, just watch it, the OP is right, it's excellent. Get some solid acting from Bradley Cooper, gross out gore and a compelling story.
it's okay
better than ok

they're the original rulers of manhatten island and they feed them to keep them pacified so that they don't rise up and attack the surface
Was the book better than the movie?
It's more or less the same but Barker's writing style can be quite visceral so maybe.
bump for interesting kinos i heavent heard of
If you want something written by a schizo with a pretty hilarious ending, here you go, champ.
you're a cool guy

Cigarette Burns was one of the good ones though.
