>Got done watching One Piece adaptation
>Thread just died
Fuck it I'm making another. What's your honest opinion on the show?
Not perfect to me. A lot of interesting slices and fights cut but overall definitely kino.

You didn’t miss much, OP is still a massive homosexual
It would have been better if they didn't change things unnecessarily, the only changes that should have been made are ones that have to happen because they simply won't work in live action. BUT there are tons of things they could have left in that were 100% doable.
>Coby punching Luffy
>The villagers knowing about Nami's goal and leaving to go fight Arlong themselves
>Luffy only saving Zoro and giving back his swords if he joins his crew
>Zoro protecting the little girl from Helmeppo's wolf
>Gin showing up and having it be a longer scene where he threatens the restaurant and then Sanji feeds him, rather than the 1 minute rushjob we got that lacked any impact
>Sanji witnessing Zoro's duel against Mihawk, or anybody at all - where are all the extras?
>forgetting Usopp’s nose
Doubt they forgot about it. Sounds like a hassle to have a believable prosthetic nose all the time. Especially considering how much screen time Ussop had and will have.
that shit would look like out of place body horror irl and its retarded to complain about it not being there
>series with ppl literally detaching body parts and sending them flying
>putting a fake nose on is too much
That shit would be distracting as fuck it's the same as giving Daario a fucking triple blue mustache in Game Of Thrones
Watched the showrunner be interviewed by som soihomosexual youtuber.
Basically is it seems that all the stuff that's missing like Richie the lion, Hachi, probably also Usopp's pinnochio snoz were omitted because it would've been too costly and time consuming to pull it off.
Luffy has to wear shoes because stunts in flipflops become infinitely more tedious to shoot etc. They'd planned the Hachu/Zoro fight but it was proving too costly to pull off. Really seems like Oda had to rein in the worst of their bullshit israeli impulses however, so that rumor seems to be true.
In the end, I get it. Most of it. The naggers everywhere annoy but it is Nogmerica after all where these things are worshipped and celebrated at every conceivable opportunity.
Yeah I like how I'm the anime Luffy basically forces and blackmails people to join his crew.
He only really does that with Zoro...and Franky later...everyone else joins because they wanted to
So 2 and he plans to do it with most of them anyways.
i wanted to see mihawk entrence in a little boat just sleeping while canons go over his head
Why did they cut Don Krieg ?
They wanted to compact the entire East Blue saga into one 8-episode season and felt like he was the best major part to cut out I guess.
He has zero impact on the larger story other than giving Luffy an extra jobber to take out.
I don't think Krieg is that memorable as a villain, although he's pretty good, but that's the arc in the manga where the world starts to open up, and the live action missed the mark by trying to tight things up. Also Gin was a great character in the manga, but you wouldn't know from watching the live action.
>Also Gin was a great character in the manga
new guy here, I feel like this manga is full of those characters who are villains but then have bro-tier moments where they make the right choice. it happened several times during the whisky peak arc with all the baroque works members who decide to help Vivi out. and the giant rabbit things in the drum kingdom (which is where I'm at right now with reading).
>The villagers knowing about Nami's goal and leaving to go fight Arlong themselves
This always made them pieces of shit waiting 10 years for a little girl to endanger her life in order to save them, making Nami the only one that knows makes the sacrifice and betrayal better.
The point was that they knew that if they'd made her aware that they knew about her plan she'd have had immeasurably more pressure on her to actually deliver than if nobody knew, where if she wanted to she could've just left and never come back. Mingled with their hope that she'd actually succeed was another hope that she'd just secretly give up and go far away, and save herself. This is in conjunction with their shame at letting the little double-orphaned girl do all the work at trying to save them.
It would all be a strange, desperate feeling.
you have no idea what changes were necessary and what changes were not. you've never fucking made a tv show before. you've never adapted anything before. anyone can sit in their room and play Armchair Showrunner.
go to bed matt owens
They fucked this scene up massively
Shanks didn't say his classic line, instead he does some stupid finger-gun fakeout only to cut to Lucky Roux having shot the guy from far away
This is a key scene for establishing what Shanks is all about, and how his crew doesn't fuck around and might have more abilities than you think. Roux is a huge fatass but the implication is that he teleported right over to shoot the guy point-blank.
I think they couldn't show someone getting shot at point blank range. They even had to cut away when Nami's mom got shot point blank.
its not about getting shot blank range. they could've kept the distance
it is about the other side escalating to murder.
I fully believe until they pulled the gun if they had given Luffy back the conflict could've gone peacefully from Shanks.
They fucked up something similar with Zoro and Helmeppo. In the original it was Helmeppo who was causing trouble and Zoro stopped him
in this the little girl bumped into Helmeppo and Zoro ESCALATED it needlessly.
really the americans just didn't get the whole peaceful line idea.
Also Zoro in the manga ate the riceball from the ground because he wanted to survive and spite the marines. In this he just comes of as a psycho eating it from the ground and insisting helmeppo does as well.
Cast Robin aka the russian girl that Netflix probably wants to cast a brown person in protest to Ukraine war
they were never gonna cast a russian in the first place given that Sanji's actor isn't french, Nami isn't swedish, luffy isn't actually brazilian
Haven’t gotten far enough in the anime yet to know Robin’s character, but here’s your Vivi.
They are black washing Vivi. No way they make a desert princess white. You know how americans are.
But Tara Emad is an actual Egyptian. She just hadn’t tanned in a while in the other pic.
>But Tara Emad is an actual Egyptian
Bullshit. Egyptians are black. Have you ever looked at a map?
Well now I see you’re just arguing in bad faith.
>Crocodile is the closest thing to an Italian mob boss before Capone Bege shows up
>he is oppressing the Egyptian/Arabian Nights country and deposing its rightful rulers
You just know Netflix will go for it
Wasn't Crocodile cast as a black woman in the show?
Last I checked that was speculation because the showrunners said there are ebin easter eggs in the crowd and the only confirmed one is Dragon
I know the showrunner suggested Robin will be black in the show, but this bitch would be perfect. She's some no-name who has already worked with Netflix as well, so it wouldn't be hard to get her.
>I know the showrunner suggested Robin will be black in the show
Seriously?
>the showrunner suggested Robin will be black in the show
Is this compromise for making Vivi the notEgyptian princess light skinned? Might be why Oda said the scripts will take some more time to finish despite the showrunners claiming they were all done
Netflix will offer a lot of money to Oda to let them make Vivi black. Larping as WE WUZ EGYPTIANS is a big part of the black culture in America so Netflix will put a lot of effort to make it happen. We will have to wait to see if Oda accepts or not.
>Vivi is black and has blue hair
I think this will just confuse the casuals, they'll think she's related to blackwashed Nojiko. She'll probably be a lightskinned Indian or Arab
>Indian
Of course these Netflix naggers will turn my waifu into a pajeta. Why are americans like this, bros? I also really hope they don't black wash Ace. I'm even okay with a spic, but please not a nagger.
>I also really hope they don't black wash Ace
He's gonna have to look somewhat similar to Luffy for the crew to mistake them as being literal brothers
In an older thread someone suggested the Cobra Kai kid, I wouldn't mind him
>light skinned
only non-whites use this terminology
you are either white or not right fag, nobody gives a fuck about your less shit colored skin
You guys must be joking. It's joever
I hope that Oda's coombrain make sure that no blackwashing ever happens again.
mon dieu, she's gorgeous... black hair+pale+light eyes is an unholy combination
casting aids riddled whore isnt a good idea.
They could just cast a Ukrainian if they wanted to protest Russia. All eastern euros look the same anyway.
Would a Hungarian be close enough?
any slav would be fine
she should look a bit older imo, as she's supposed to have a more adult/mature appeal compared to the youthful beauty of nami
All it had to do was copy something that was already pretty well done. Just don't cut or change too much, and it would at least have a solid story. It did that for the most part, so props there. But the aesthetic is fucking ugly and gross and the visuals look like a fan film with Canon 5D tier shallow focus to hide the all the greenscreen reshoots.
Ultimately though, it don't matter. There's no reason to ever watch it. Why in the world would anyone wait years to watch what is at best a decent imitation of something that already exists? I read on here some idiot wondering what season 2 will to be like, and I don't think he understood that 'season 2' already exists. It was written 20+ years ago and he could be watching it in the next 30 seconds. But nah~ let's wait 3 years to see if Netflix can make something almost as good.
Live action anime doesn't need to exist. It adds nothing. It's those live action Disney movies like Mulan and Little Mermaid, except for casual weebs. Shit needs to not exist.
I'm worried about the future
It's made for normies who don't like manga/anime nor One Piece
Shit taste about the anime, the LA is indeed shit
Nami’s baratie shirt literally added a boob window for no real reason, it was a normal ass shirt in the original
The only reason to watch live action over anime is to avoid the awful shonen pacing where it can take ages for anything of note to happen. Still, a One Piece Kai would have been infinitely preferable to this but Netflix just can’t help themselves, not to mention they could do all the wokestunt casting they wanted to without a Cleopatra situation on their hands.
>they could do all the wokestunt casting they wanted to without a Cleopatra situation on their hands.
That’ll depend on how they handle Vivi.
>One Piece Kai
One Pace isn't half bad, at least.
It's bad. They fucked up Zoro and Sanji.
Too dark
But Namis leg were nice
not even facing the right direction, how hard is that
It's on purpose
>can’t hold the ciggy correctly
>can’t hold the sword correctly
>can’t hold his head down correctly
It’s just fucking careless
It's everything in the opposite direction on purpose
Oh well that was a bad idea
It's a worse version of the source material
is it better than most anime adaptations? Yes, clearly. But is it good? Not at all.
I'll watch it but I don't really like it.
Baratie episodes are unironically complete kino
They are, but they cut so much out and changed things up so much that the themes of that arc functionally don't exist in the LA, to its detriment. Sanji ends up joining the crew just because, and that's after he ends up doing more to help Luffy than the other way around.
As a standalone they were great, but as an adaptation they left a lot to be desired.
>Sanji ends up joining the crew just because
Didn't see the show, but did it at least have the goodbye scene with Sanji falling to his knees crying thanking Zef for everything he did for him? That's such a kino moment in the manga.
They insult each other a lot, then they both realize what's going on and end up crying. That's how it happens in the show
It was heavily botched, but it's there, kind of.
They have their moment, and there are tears, but no full on dogeza. Which is probably for the best, since I don't think it'd translate well to live action.
Full dogeza would have worked with Sanji because how proudful he has been until that point. It truly shows you how much he loves Zeff.
baratie is like one of the earliest examples of bloated clusterfuck arcs that have way too much unnecessary bullshit chucked into it. and it could even be fine - oh, alright, this crew, gets attacked by mihawk, and they all happen to get there, that's actually fairly straightforward, - but shit also gets needlessly drawn out to the point where it just does a disservice to the story. even one pace recuts barely cut thru bullshit of that arc.
there just isn't 10 episodes worth of material in baratie or arlong park. try three, if not two.
Being bloated is unironically what makes One Piece so damn good. It makes its world feel like a real place where everything can happen at any moment because it's full of people going around pursuing their own goals. Baratie is such a kino arc because it was the first to absolutely nail the chaotic style of the series,
idk to me it feels like it just buries the story under the profit/advertiser oriented weekly slopified drip feed
>how can we dilute the story as much as possible so we could have it running the longest and sell the most volumes and tv spots
I started reading it after checking this out and I felt the same way about baratie. Too long, I was ready for it to be done with, and enjoyed everything before and after it a lot more. It was still better than it was in the LA though. I'm 17 volumes in and really dig the manga though. At what point does it go to shit? I've always heard One Piece was GOAT for a large chunk and then the power creep kind of kills at some point.
If you binge read it, it never really goes to shit, but the last arc was a chore to go through by reading it weekly.
Good deal. I really like it so far and regret not starting it sooner. Good mix of action and gags. I feel like it's like if you smashed early Dragon Ball together with Popeye or something.
A lot of the post-skip arcs were a chore when reading weekly, Dressrosa and Wano especially. Binge reading really does help with the slower pacing of those longer arcs.
>early Dragon Ball with Popeye
Pretty accurate description.
>but the last arc was a chore to go through by reading it weekly.
The worst part were all the trannies trying to shill Yamato. If it weren't for them I wouldn't even dislike Yamato, but the trannies online were so insufferable they made Wano worse.
Who is your waifu?
So far? Just Nami. I like how much of a rascal she is in the manga. She's fun. Her LA counterpart I feel like was maybe a bit too rigid and deadpan.
I read the whole series for the first time recently. I felt that Fishman Island, Punk Hazard, and Dressrosa were the low point of the series, each worse than the last, but WCI and Wano were pretty good. Final saga has been great so far.
fishman island is really not that bad, besides being drawn out, at least the story is straightforward
dressrosa is what threw me off 7 or so years ago and i didn't return ever since and from what i hear it doesn't really get better when it comes to pacing and bloat
Whole Cake Island had a good pace and now Egghead too
Dressrosa doesn't really get better, but Whole Cake Island is so good that it makes up for it.
WCI made no sense to me. They forced Sanji to comply by threatening Zeff, right? Well he didn't fucking comply and Big Mom was fucking mad. So Zeff should lose his fucking head now, right?
Zeff can handle himself, he's a former legendary pirate of the New World
Then the entire conflict was bullshit
At some point Sanji believed he couldn't wrong Big Mom because of Zeff and he stopped believing that for no reason
Sanji realized that the last thing Zeff would want is for him to abandon his crew and capitulate to big mom just for his sake
He knows if Zeff saw him acting that way he'd be like
>what the fuck are you doing worrying about my old ass in a situation like this? Stop looking down on me, you brat!
So the entire arc just happened because Sanji couldn't come to this conclusion right when he met Bege on Zou? That is dogshit writing and just makes Sanji a retard.
Sanji is a very kind person. He didn't want to inconvenience or put others in danger. It took him the whole arc and a lot of convincing and personal growth for him to realize how selfish he was being.
So Zeff should still fucking die right now because of Big Mom though
Why didn't she follow up on her threat?
She was a little busy having her poneglyph stolen and her fleet sunk and having to go to Wano to fuck shit up
She probably legitimately just forgot
Zeff was only useful as leverage to get Sanji to the marriage
Once the marriage was off it's not really important to go all the way to East Blue to find one fucking guy and kill him
She probably would have done it later, but then she ended up in an exploding volcano
>Once the marriage was off it's not really important to go all the way to East Blue to find one fucking guy and kill him
But they repeated over and over again what would happen if you cross her.
Her just forgetting is dumb. It completely erases any threat she used to be.
Now she is jsut dumb fighter. All the threats now feel unearned.
This is why I think WCI is way overrated. People just don't think about it and only get to the conflict.
It's gets a lot worse. Dressrosa and Whole Cake are masterpieces compared to W*no.
>At what point does it go to shit?
Post time skip, every arc is dragged out and a fucking slog to read
what just does not make sense to me is how can something go to shit just like that
like, there was no space for a change quite like that. there was a hiatus but not to the length or extent of "fuck it, change it all up". or was it? am I missing something? idk.
is it just because timeskips are inherently hack and bad writing
Stopped watching the show right before the Baratie and read the manga instead. The Baratie arc was by far my favorite in the East Blue Saga and was it convinced me the manga was kino. Good to know it was good in the show too. May watch it.
>Good to know it was good in the show too
They did Krieg and Gin dirty though
Please don't tell me they are black.
Gin is black. But to be fair he looked... well, non white in the manga too. Kreig was perfect. It's what they did with the characters' roles
Post hands
Making Don Krieg a basically a cameo as fodder for Mihawk and No Hatchan in Arlong Park makes me salty.
they gutted the entire baratie arc and made zoro the focal point while sanji got marginalised
baratie is one of my fav arcs and they ruined it
At least Patty was kinda done justice, even if he should’ve been played by Terry Crews.
>Baratie
For me it was Kaya / Cpt Kuro. Just finished that arc in the anime and I think I like the LA version better.
>mfw Usopp is Krillin and Zoro is Piccolo/Vegeta
A tonshit of moments are very compressed for obvious reasons, it's impossible to fit the Arlong arc correctly in 2 episodes. They made a great work introducing Arlong outside of his arc, good move, but Bellemere's plot didn't have half the impact it has in the source material.
Also Usopp and Sanji didn't have clear scenes that make you say "oh so THAT'S WHY they join in the crew"
And the wigs are fucking stupid.
That's all my negative criticism, overall 7/10, the highs of the show are more than the lows, I was expecting a disaster Dragon Ball Evolution levels but it was an enjoyable surprise
Bellemere being a 50-year-old hag in the LA compared to the pretty 30 year old of the manga (or at least that's how old she looked to be) was too distracting to me. Plus that the nigglet was ugly and not cute like lil Nojiko. And the fact that they kept calling her "No-jee-ko" was so frustrating.
They said so many names wrong. I thought Baratie was simply pronounced "bear-a-tee" but I guess it's "bear-ah-tee-eh" ?
You were the one pronouncing it wrong, in this case, and the show got it right. It's バラティエ = bah-rah-tee-eh.
>No-jee-ko
That's correct, do yourself a favor and look up how kana are pronounced.
How did you think it was pronounced?
No jai koh?
Wtf?
Nigs were annoying. Thankfully nigjiko wasn't in it much.
>bongs would rather watching a show about nagger gangs or a feminist superagent than the wholesome One Piece adaptation
Top 10 in UK is beyond fucked
one piece is shit
spic retard
Its mediocre little below average. Still better than the orginal 1600 episode pervert tranime.
you have to go back
It's good
Technically it was kind of garbage, and the acting wasn't too good either, but the source material is so good it carried the show into good fun territory.
I'm struggling to understand why they whitewashed Monkey D. Garp
The Monkey D. family ethnicity makes no sense in the show. Garp is british, Dragon some sort of really dark pajet, present Luffy is a spic, and kid Luffy is a nagger.
Watching the anime and I could swear I hear dbz characters in the voices. Maybe I’m going insane
luffy's voice actor also voices krillin
Krillin uses One piece theme as ring tone
Usopp, not Luffy
And Zoro has the same VA as Vegeta/Piccolo
The anime uses old DBZ sound effects for all 1000+ episodes, so enjoy that shitty sound design
Literally carried the show with her delicious thick thighs
Her upper body is a bit fridged, but her thighs are absolutely delicious indeed.
she's pretty but she can't act for shit.
eh, she's fine
I don't know shit about the anime. But I loved the show, it's silly and over the top but it takes itself seriously and I really enjoy that. Definitely a breath of fresh air for me
why this nigga in a suit
He's a chef
It's awful and I've already expressed exactly why so many times that I'm exhausted of it. The short version is that anyone who likes it needs to reevaluate what they think One Piece is, because this isn't it. They should also lay off the slop consumption because the cinematography is demonstrably amateur, often ugly and annoying. I'm not a comic book purist but the Netflix show is for low IQs.
>because the cinematography is demonstrably amateur
What was going on with all those ultra wide lenses and the yellow piss color correction and the shitty make up that made every woman look hideous?
so obviously, the original bloat piece anime and manga are shit as well, right
>>Got done watching One Piece adaptation
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
*breath*
AAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Couldn't make it past a couple mins into episode one. It's shit and anime doesn't translate to live action well. People are pretending to like it for some reason.
Cmon dude it's good. Unpretentious and cheap entertainmnet
Does Mihawk talk like a homosexual in the anime too? Really disliked his voice in the live action.
He's an overhyped poser so it fits him
No, at least not in the sub. In Japanese he’s very quick and poignant in his speech, sharp if you will. He also expresses way more emotion than just “this is boring”
In the live action he just sounds like a homosexual aristocrat
>weeb
>fucking moron
>speaks with utter conviction
every single time.
Mihawk is supposed to be a 'bored British homosexual.' why the fuck do you think he's stylized with an opened button down shirt and a fucking plume in his hat?
god fucking damn it you people are impressively retarded sometimes
HAHAHAHA! You got him!
yeah, I know
Shut the fuck up you stupid homosexual and go listen to the sub for all of 2 fucking seconds, take the cocks out of your ears. Kill yourself afterwards
>Mihawk is supposed to be a 'bored British homosexual.'
Mihawk is the French mousquetaire D'Artagnan. He's a massively influential fictional character inspired by the romanticized life of a real man.
mihawk is Spanish
He sounds like that in english
His voice is meant to exclude boredom and disinterest, while sophisticated, and I the LA version does it well
*exude
This is how he should have sounded
WTF he sounds exactly like Pangolier in Dota 2
French accent would have been kino indeed
Is this particular video from the original anime? The design seems more ... handsome and the rim on Luffy's hat shorter, than I racall the anime back in the day was.
This is one of those details that killed my immersion. After 2 months Sanji is still a fat kid
6 out of 10
It's alright and the cast is pretty likable but if you're just getting into One Piece you're better off just finding a reader site or torrent and reading the manga. It just works better on paper or animated. I do really like Luffy in the show. Dude seemed like he really loved playing the role.
5/10 as a show
8/10 as a live action anime adaptation (the bar is very low)
cast them
Any beefy Viking-looking dudes who can get their laughs right
Do you think they will include the Okama next season?
I would watch 20 seasons of Emily Rudd playing every character
Based
I would watch 20 seasons of Emily Rudd doing nothing but looking at the camera while doing cute faces
Finally getting the love she deserves
better late than never
I'm just finished the Kuro Arc and it was miles better than the anime. Multiple twists that just made it all better. Also I would WRECK that evil cat girl. WRECK IT.
>Also I would WRECK that evil cat girl. WRECK IT.
How can she be so ugly and so incredibly hot at the same time? I don't get it.
Nah, it was dragged down by Koby showing up only to do fucking nothing and also Usopp does nothing in his own arc.
Koby believing Usopp was the twist I liked most and was a hell of a stinger for the first episode. I was like damn I have no idea where this is going. Turns out they turned the next episode into a Jason crossed with a samurai movie. I was smiling like a kid the whole time and wanted the cat girl to sit on my face.
>Usopp isn't a compulsory liar
>no kids
>no Michael Jackson
Original was better.
I agree with her
Sanji is the only hot guy
no, they're all hot!
it's weird they got someone so handsome to play Buggy. he did a good job though, I liked him.
When does Coby become a chad? How are they going to get rid of the tranny? Recast?
There's a WAY long way to go for that yet. Maybe if the tranny keeps being pumped with steroids she will look the part by the time the story gets there.
Who thought that casting a FtM tranny for a recurrent character was a good idea in first place? I know some zoomers look like that, but still
It made me want to fuck Koby, a thought that never crossed my mind while reading the manga, so I'd say it was a great idea.
>It made me want to fuck Koby
Blackbeard, is that you?
Holy shit he's a ftm? Thank the lord. I thought I was gay for thinking he looked like a cute boyish girl lmao
Your instincts are right
I found Coby too girly and way too soft, she gave me mixed feelings. I know low-T zoomers usually look like that, but this one was really out of the curve
It turns out it's really a woman
Coby acts like that in the manga. He's a huge pussy. He gets a complete physical transformation post timeskip and even grows up physically. It's possible they change the actor for a more masculine guy to illustrate that later.
>a more masculine guy
Any guy would be more masculine than a woman.
sex with zoro
"Asian" man
>first sexual experience is banging his mom's friend at 13
>has a daughter 14 years younger than him
nice
What?
*Fucks your mother and gives you a little sister*
He had sex with a 30 something married woman and got her pregnant, i've seen some people say it was the mother of a friend of his, but from what i've read she was a friend of the family, so the relation is not really clear
He was 13 at the time and the kid was born when he was 14
Slaying milf pussy in middle school? Knocking her up even? I kneel.
The milf was married too. Turbo Chad.
>was raped
NICCCCE
iirc he himself admitted it actually didn't happen against his will so the charges were dropped
stop making shit up
It's not. There is a trial and the case was dismissed because he went on record about his willingness to bang the milf. Unfathomably based.
sex with Emily Rudd
I mean Nami
She's pure sexo. I think she's been working out
Absolutely
she is really sexy and built well.
Post more Nami
I really like Sanji's actor, but it seems to me he should've had a french accent instead of a british one.
>Not perfect to me. A lot of interesting slices and fights cut but overall definitely kino
I feel the same. Also, Godoy is a great Luffy
His acting is sometimes a little awkward and imperfect, but he brings the right sort of energy to the role. If they continue making this I am excited to see him grow into it a little more.
>His acting is sometimes a little awkward and imperfect, but he brings the right sort of energy to the role. If they continue making this I am excited to see him grow into it a little more.
Ye I was thinking that too. Got to give the guy some deserved credit for his performance. It's very hard to bring a shonen protagonist to life. To be even remotely convincing and not incredibly cringe is a feat. The guy looks 200% in and I'm sure he binged his brain out on One Piece. Looking forward to see him grow in the character more.
Did anyone else want to fuck Sham?
me. also she singlehandedly brought back the i cum on cat she hiss at penis meme over on /a/ so we're not alone.
I thought he was Gosling for a second
Sham, not Shanks. Kuro's henchwoman.
its absolutely over for capeshit
>did a better job
>starred in a more popular show
I see nothing wrong with this.
Why did they exclusively pick Zoro? This shit is too specific. My sides
They're both green
Probably because Zoro was the highest paid in One Piece and the other actors earned less than She Hulk
zoros actor is the only professional one from main cast so he earned more.
>What's your honest opinion on the show?
the last half of the last episode is pure kino
I know I sound like a redditor but I kinda teared up when we are played in the last scene
Kino means shit now?
The show is being praised everywhere
I don't even think the show overall is very great
I just think that it hit the right notes in the right spots
It felt like it was like made by semi-competent people who like the source material and made it as well as they could
i hope they tighten up the cinematography in season 2, although its watchable it feels a bit experimental at times and inconsistent. some of the super wide shots, like when the wheelbarrow bringing zoro to the well wheels over the camera, remind me of some of Oda's panels which is pretty great.
By whom?

why don't normies find this show cringe
even boomers watch it
its fun
it's fun and plays itself straight
people miss that shit, it was how stuff was done before the 2010s
We live in a world where Everything, Everywere All at Once won Best Picture and was a commercial hit. Obviously people are perfectly ready to go along with goofy, cartoony stuff in live action.
overall it's good, but the set design, costumes, acting, and character writing (which I assume comes directly from the manga) do the heavy lifting. the directing, camera work, scripting, and editing are amateur level. basically front of camera carries for back of camera.
oh the fight choreography is also bad
I hope they improve that. There was a scene with Shanks that I thought I was watching the Irishman
190035259
stick your bait up your ass
It was alright, better than any other anime adaption I've ever seen. I wouldn't recommend it to someone in real life, though, as it's kind of embarrassing at times.
It really did feel like a real life anime when it came to story and themes. A lot of costumes were too cosplay feeling. I liked the majority of the casting. What I will say about it is that it never felt like it dragged and I really appreciated how optimistic it was. It was the complete opposite of the try-hard, edgy and mean-spirited shit that almost every adaption of anything always is these days. The ending scene of them all childishly shouting out their dreams in their team huddle was genuinely heart-warming and fun. I love that they weren't afraid to end the series on a major high-note, because almost everything else has to end on some dumb fuck cliff-hanger to keep you watching.
there's only gonna be more stuff like that onward, or it wouldn't be one piece. on paper it can seem so overwrought and contrived but damn do those moments truly hit. somehow. wonder why, maybe it's the setting, the world, pirates and stuff, that makes it so
That's the beauty of fantasy. People don't need to talk or act perfectly realistically. You can exaggerate and romanticise a lot of their behaviour without it being jarring.
why did normalfags love this adaptation but hated cowboy bebop?
One Pierce fans will eat shit if you tell them that it's from Oda
the casting for cowboy bebop sucked dick and the writing was terrible and cringe
well, as we've said one billion times: one piece live action had direct involvement from the original author and respected the source material, while the cowboy bebop live action did not.
"boo hoo good story stuck in weekly jump industrial complex" but fr I hope this makes them wake the fuck up and realize they can just repackage 100 episodes into 10 and get new audience, not just into a "movie" or "recap special" but literally the same show. just recut your bullshit 1000+ anime into what it should've always been. but officially
Dragon Ball Kai was pretty good at doing this, you’d have to be insane to sit through og dragon ball z now
Isn’t that pretty much what One Pace is trying to do?
It's a 6.5/7 out of 10. Some changes were retarded (bipolar Garp, Nami's backstory with the villagers), some were great (more Buggy, Arlong introduced earlier). They made Zoro too monotone
Buggy was kino. I thought it would be peak cringe the first time I saw the stills
i liked the tv show. i watched it with my gf and she liked it too. sorry haters but you cant make me un-like it bwahahahaha
I actually thought it was good.
don't give a shit about Cinemaphile's unironic opinion.
This show IS fun.
and when you realize that and that at the core that this really just a fun story with interesting characters, your brain just freezes and suspension of disbelief sets in.
After that the caveman brain kicks in and everything and any fault is forgiven.
Not to mention that the cast are also fans and didn't trash the series. It's not perfect and god damn the bar is that low but holy fuck the show is fun.
I wish I could give the showrunners some genuine feedback.
Right now all they get is praise, which they do genuinely deserve on some level, for making a good adaptation.
But I don't agree with every choice. And I feel like they should know where they could do better so season 2 is going to be better and not worse.
Post it here for a start. You can always give it a shot bro if you write them a formal mail. People aren't as out of reach as you think. Also they allegedly were asked by Oda to remake entire scenes so they did get some criticism.
Well one thing I think they kinda missed the mark on was the Mcguffin the map.
Generally the entrance to the grand line is known but okay maybe it is specifically about the treacherous waters leading into it. But why is there only one grandline map in the entire east blue. Why does every pirate suddenly know about it and is after it and why do they all want to the grandline right now when they spend years in the east blue chilling
I am a fan of constructive criticism though so I will say this would've been fixable.
Spoilers but Garp reveals at the end this entire season was basically a test for Luffy. So they should've revealed that Garp was the one who sent the grand line map as bait to Morgan. And made it really public so Luffy would have to compete with others.
That way Luffy could've read about the grand line map and then decided to go there with Koby instead of lucking into the one place in the east blue that had a map.
The map shenanigans are part of the manga except Buggy staying around way longer than he should have. I don't recall them saying this was the only Grand Line map. Maps are just very rare and precious. It illustrates how valuable Nami's skills are.
Garp and Koby's sidestory was based on a special mini series that's told through chapters covers in Romance Dawn. All that stuff was rewritten in the series to make both more proactive in it. They didn't originally show up in Arlong Park. I think it was a decently executed call to make the unfamiliar audience remember them as they will only show up again way later down the line.
>they will only show up again way later down the line
this is a big problem for a lot of characters honestly
if they want to be faithful, they have to introduce Ace next season, only for us to probably never see him again because the show will never get that far
>this is a big problem for a lot of characters honestly
Well it's One Piece. Every arc there are a tons of characters that barely show up again.
>if they want to be faithful, they have to introduce Ace next season, only for us to probably never see him again because the show will never get that far
They definitely will and I can imagine them going off track to cement him more with an original story and more screen time like Garp & Koby.
I'm pretty sure this show will keep going unless they massively fuck up in the following seasons. This is unironically an unexpected phenomena that reached beyond One Piece fans. If they get more budget to recreate fights 1:1 and become confident to slow down the pace for more content it'll be incredible.
>I'm pretty sure this show will keep going
Sure, Season 2 is already confirmed and the showrunners say they've talked about plans for 3 or 4 or even 6 seasons
but that's still not enough to even get to fucking Marineford
man i remember the dressrosa fatigue and wano is so much worse.
If we go by your graph and they keep on the same pace we'll be more or less at Impel Down or Marine Ford in the 6th season.
And that's a serious problem, because if you end the LA with fucking Marineford, it's a total downer and a massive cliffhanger
There is no good place to end the LA
maybe you can end it at Skypiea with the ringing of the golden bell, or after Water 7 or something, but then it's like
>OK...so...they just kind of went into the grand line and got pretty far but we still don't know absolutely anything about the One Piece or the larger machinations of the world or anything
>It just...ends?
normies aren't gonna switch over and read the manga or watch the anime
There is just no good way or place in the story to end this adaptation without it blueballing the shit out of people who watched
What do you do in 5-10 years when the actors are too old to play the characters?
Even in 5-10 years the main actors will still be young. Maybe 15-20 years that'll be an issue.
By that time we’d likely hit time skip and they can use that excuse for actors looking older
>The map shenanigans are part of the manga
Are you sure you remember the manga correctly and are not confusing it with buggy's treasure map or something else?
Could be it's been a while honestly. I'm refreshing my memory watching One Pace right now.
i feel that the confrontation between Garp and Luffy, and him letting Luffy go just like that feels weird at first but fits just right into the narrative even if its fucking cheesy because this is literally what happened in water 7 but thats even worse since luffy by then was a full blown pirate that literally declared war on the world government and trashed one of their bases a night ago enough to warrant a buster call.
Atleast with this development we know early on that Garp, being who he is in the marines, had a vested interest in Luffy's safety and in turn imprints this into the marines that looks up to him, like aokiji and smoker if we ever get to them and it also conveniently explain why the marines most of the god damn time just lets the Strawhats off the hook.
>left: wrong camera angle, meh composition, can't see shit
Yep. It's Netflix.
Regardless of its success, it’s not like the original is some sort of masterpiece in terms of story and animation, so it’s a lot easier to live up to expectations when you just have to tell a straightforward shonen story. Even with the creator’s involvement, Cowboy Bepop and Death Note are held in higher regard and were always going to be a tough ask to remake into live action with the mediocrity of modern writers.
>death note
i can't imagine how the fuck netflix manage to fumble into making this a total garbage when the nips literally had an ok live action for it.
Show is just nostalgia bait for weebs who got tired of the manga and anime and those weebs drag along normies who are just curious what this shit is all about...
Kek I thought you were all just maymaying but koby's actress really is a ftm tranny.
I dunno how they'll do the buff-up if they actually intend to do it.
Post more Rudd
Have a rare.
Huh oh bros this is too much
I really hope they do get to do 12 whole seasons
You could probably do the entire manga with that, depending on how soon it ends
>2 years per season maybe more
>nami's actress is 54 when they reach wano
Really think about the limitations of humans
It's fine if they age, that's actually better
It's always been weird that Luffy goes from nobody in east blue to a fucking Yonko in like 1 year if you remove the 2 year timeskip
Will make it feel more like the journey of a lifetime that it really is
Nothing about these characters is really dependant on them being young people, that's not relevant to the story or their personal arcs
>It's fine if they age
54 years old
is a little too much my man
By the time this show reaches time skip actors will be forced to accept AI supremacy. They will get paid for the use of their face. Their body will be replaced by younger actors and AI will do the facial acting using their younger self.
>S1
what we got already
>S2
logue town/whiskey peak/reverse mountain, drum island, alabasta
>S3
jaya and skypiea
>S4
Water 7 and Ennies Lobby
>S5
Thriller Bark, Sabaody, Amazon Lily, Impel Down, Marineford
>S6

>S7

>S8

>S10
Egghead and whatever comes next, probably Elbaf
that leaves you 2 seasons for the final war and finale shit
seems perfectly workable, you just have to cut a LOT of fat and padding from the post-TS arcs specifically
damn post timeskip arcs really do suck when you see them listed out like that. Hopefully they just condense everything into S6 and S7 and finish up there.
They really fucked Usopp over in this adaptation. His motivations for joining made no sense since Syrup Village was changed so much, and they cut all of his defining moments from Arlong Park (arguably the most important arc for him). I like the actor but he hasn't had the opportunity to portray Usopp as incredibly pathetic and cowardly as he can be.
Robbing him of his Usopp Hammer moment was even more criminal than circumcising his nose.
hopefully he gets to use it in Alabasta against the mole lady and the fat blonde guy
I just watched that scene yesterday and christ, that mole bitch was fucking obnoxious. Usopp’s “5 ton” hammer was comedy kino though, and I could only imagine what kind of nightmare fuel a LA version of the fat bat guy’s cannon/dachshund would be.
They will 100% cut that fight
Usopp is not important. Maybe he just gets beat up by her and you have that moment where says he is not fine with her laughing at luffy and then Sanji or Zoro come and safe him
They will also cut little garden
I was about to type a serious response but then I saw your last line
cope now
Little garden is expensive and nothing in it is really important except for Usopp.
and as you can see in this thread people are fine if he just takes down a single mook once
>my gf watching this with me thought he just took down a single fishman mook
>she didn't really realize chew was an officer like Kurobii
poor Usopp.
I mean even if he was just a random mook it's still impressive
Fishmen are 10 times stronger than humans and at this point in the story Usopp is literally just a regular guy with a slingshot
>I mean even if he was just a random mook it's still impressive
It was intercut with endless footage of an almost dead Zoro and Sanji taking down tons of fishmen
If Chew were jsut another fishmen then Usopp just wasted time because Zoro could casually kill chew while bantering and not even looking at chew.
>Usopp is way weaker than Zoro and Sanji
Correct
that's kind of the whole point
No no no no. That is not the point. Usopp is not useless. Usopp taking down Chew helped. Sanji took down Kurobi and Zoro took down hatchi
3 officers each of them took one down
yes usopp is weaker but he isn't useless.
Yeah, Chew is an officer in the show too
it's just anon's retarded girlfriend thought he was a mook
And you said in response it makes no difference if he is an officer or just a mook
No you retard, I didn't
I said it would still be impressive
>I said it would still be impressive
no it fucking wouldn't be. It would be useless. its not nearly on the same level.
>no it fucking wouldn't be
a regular guy with a slingshot takes down a fishman with 10x his physical strength
that's impressive
except a waiter and a half dead guy take down a million casually
nobody is impressed by taking down a single mook
nobody would think that is impressive in any way
It's impressive for Usopp, because he is just a regular man
Sanji and Zoro are superhumans
What part of this aren't you getting
Its not impressive compared to taking down an officer which Usopp the normal human did with his cunning
Impressive to whom? Nobody sane would be impressed by it. Impressive is really fucking subjective and you might be impressed by someoen not shitting himself because you are a retard.
You're some special kind of retarded aren't you
If you are impressed by Usopp taking down a single mook through huge effort and almost dying then you are not a person to me. You are subhuman and would probably be impressed by someone tying his shoelaces.
I'm impressed by Usopp having the courage to fight a guy 10-times stronger than him with nothing but a slingshot and his wits
It doesn't really matter if that guy has the title of "officer" or not
except he wasn't jsut ten times stronger.
Sanji had a proper fight and even lost to Kurobi. That puts Usopp in terms of usefullness on par with Sanji
downgrading him like you are doing is homosexualry
You gonna fuckin cry about it?
No I am just going to look down on you. Like you are asking people to
oh no what will I ever do without the respect of Anonymous homosexual
I mean you are impressed by nothing. I don't understand what you want as a response. Nobody is going to agree with you.
>anon says his girlfriend thought Usopp just fought a mook
>I say eh still pretty good considering how strong fishmen are
Then here's you
>NO, ITS NOT IMPRESSIVE AT ALL. IT MAKES HIM USELESS. USOPP IS NOT USELESS HE IS STRONG OK YOU ARE LOOKING DOWN ON PEOPLE I DONT RESPECT YOU YOU ARE NOT EVEN A HUMAN
touch grass you fucking sperg
>>I say eh still pretty good considering how strong fishmen are
Its not
you are subhuman for arguing that and I stand by that
Ignore Usopp. Saying that both are equally impressive or saying both are impressive is disgusting to me
Do you have legitimate autism?
Why can't I look down on someone? I think nothing is more pathetic than people who are impressed by dogshit.
nagger nobody fucking cares
And you definitely have autism
>nagger nobody fucking cares
I care
>And you definitely have autism
nagger nobody fucking cares. That doesn't stop you from being a subhuman even if it were true
>I think nothing is more pathetic than people who are impressed by dogshit.
Also I didn't say he's useless I said he's a lot weaker than Sanji and Zoro
because he fucking is
the whole point of Usopp as a character is that he's more or less just a regular man trying to keep up with all these superhuman monsters
Why did they cut Don Krieg?
Because he's really not that important
>first villain to defeat Luffy outright
>exposes Mihawk as a coward and fraud
He's kind of important, anon.
>first villain to defeat Luffy outright
this has no impact on the story or even Luffy's personality, it's actually irrelevant
>exposes Mihawk as a coward and fraud
but Mihawk is neither of those things
Anon we are never going to see Mihawk again
He doesn't come back until Marineford and they're not getting that far
12 seasons and a movie
In the writers most wild wet dreams, maybe
The showrunners said they HOPE they get to do 12 seasons and adapt the whole thing
They barely have any plans beyond season 2 right now
They're not getting that far
>What's your honest opinion on the show?
Pointless adaptation, a less good version of the anime/manga.
live action Usopp should get a gun and blow peoples brains out
Being the tinkerer that he is, I’m surprised he hasn’t at least upgraded his slingshot by Alabasta.
People act like Usopp is just a weak regular guy but they forget that he survived getting zapped by Enel when that would've killed any other normal person.
He's GOD USOPP because he rivals GODS.
>People act like Usopp is just a weak regular guy but they forget that he survived getting zapped by Enel when that would've killed any other normal person.
Enel has like one confirmed kill during Skypiea. He long range vaporized a guy before we even saw Enel. Every Strawhat, Shandian survived his zapping. I am not even sure anyone died whne he started a lighting storm over the city.
Didn't he kill like all 50 enforcers?
cast him
Idris Elba
if he gains 200 pounds, I can see it
cast him
new yorker italian the "Fuhgeddabout it" kit
unknown actor
new yorker? i don't see it at all. maybe an italian american jersey guido though.
Like Jersey Shore italian? works for me as well
His "sisters" will be black right?
No Sarah Gadon, no watch.
