I didn't read or watch One Piece. Weren't they all suppose to be Japanese? Also why isn't the girl with a giant half naked rack?

I've seen all 1053 episodes of One Piece over 100 times each and I distinctly remember a scene where every character in the story looks directly at the camera and says "I am Japanese, we are all Japanese" along with my full name and social security number. I think Nami might've had a hardcore pornagraphic sex scene in that episode too, but I could be confusing it with another.

Why is there over 1000 episodes of this shit? There is a limit on how can one person drag a story

          Anonymous

That's an anime problem that has to produce the series weekly along with the manga which is also over 1,000+ chapters. The anime is so close to the catching up to the manga that it is doing recap episodes during an arc to buy themselves time.

not that much. they put in filler scenes and there are special episodes and a couple of filler arcs, but it's mostly one episode per chapter

reminds me of gurm and his gardening writing style. dude writes about whatever he's interested in at a given time, ever increasing the worldspace, characters, new backgrounds, etc. that all have to fit into the already existing plot.
with the upcoming ice-elf-zombie apocalypse looming in the distance, which will need to be this epic scale struggle for the existence of mankind, while gurm is still stuck writing about political machinations and secret plots.
the story is so huge and branched out, it's very unlikely he'll finish it before his death

See, that's where you're wrong: Wanpiss doesn't have a story. Not in the traditional sense. It has a loop of plot points that get repeated ad infinitum with slight variation.
Kinda like a Bach fugue, just with way less aesthetic sensibility and way more meaningless bloat.

                >IRRELEVANT!! YASSOP WAS BLACK! ANIME NO LONGER COUNTS!

The people pushing this shit will say anything to justify stuffing shit with more dark people. It's so moronic. One Piece has three other characters who are most definitely black and all three are quite powerful (Kuma, Kuzan and Blackbeard.) Why is it never enough for you people?

Although I'm wondering how Kuma can be black if Bonney is clearly white and she says she's his daughter. Maybe it's another adoptive situation since the series is full of those.

i never even cared about robin's skin tone, though. yassop always had frizzy hair in manga. oda said usopp would be african irl a long time ago. so i'd just say it's natural that people think usopp/yasopp are black-coded. that's all.

Calling something "coded" just means it isn't that thing. It's you asserting autistically it's meant to signify some random thing. But there's no reason for Oda to have "coded" characters, there are a ton of completely, 100% black characters in the series. Why would something need to be "coded" when it's overt and out in the open with so many other characters? You said something stupid, woke and pointless. Be better, and say less moronic things.

I'm aware he's Oda's visual inspiration for Aokiji, but Aokiji is still black. Oda has demonstrated that he can have inspiration for a character be one race and the character be another. Aokiji has darker skin. Some examples, Brook has an afro, but Oda's stated his design is inspired by both Prince and Jack Skellington, yet when asked for his race he says Austrian. His visual inspiration for Zoro was the lead singer from Green Day when his hair was dyed green, yet Zoro is Japanese. Jinbei is clearly wearing an outfit inspired by Japanese motifs, wears his hair in a topknot and his "fishman karate" is clearly inspired by asian martial arts, yet Oda said he's Indian. Law's white, I forget his name but the guy that inspired Oda's design for him isn't white. There's tons of examples like this.

Them being random answers Oda plopped out of his butt doesn't make them any less canon, that's what's always been fun about his SBS. That's why I bother buying physical copies of the manga, his responses are hilarious because he's always so casual about it. I remember in one early on someone wrote him a message that said "I think Chopper's birthday should be December 25th since he comes from a winter island and his story is inspired by Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer!" Oda gave a one word answer of "Okay." and that was it, from then on December 25th was marked officially as Chopper's birthday in everything everywhere forever. Or early on when people would ask romance questions, if x loved y and such, he responded "They're all in love... with adventure!"

I'd never heard he said Jinbe was Indian, Jinbe hadn't joined the crew yet when he was first addressing this. I guess it doesn't matter, but Jinbe doesn't look Indian. He's wearing like a samurai kimono and top knot and he fights in sumo stances.

The characters are not literally meant to reflect particular nationalities or ethnicities from Earth. A reader asked Oda what nationalities the characters would have if they were from Earth. Other readers have asked when everyone's birthday is and what the girls' measurements are. I wouldn't be surprised if the major characters have canon blood types. It's nip autism.

Yes. Unironically, everything in the series is named like this. For years the island the One Piece was on was called "Raftel". Years later it turns out this was either a frickup of the translators or an intentional pun by Oda as it's revealed the island is actually called "Laugh Tale".

Usopp doesn't look like a Black person tho

He's probably thinking North African. Think Libyan. The actor doesn't seem to be that but he's also not full deep dark african either so he kinda works.

In the manga because the current anime Thousand-Year Blood War is trying to finish the chapters that weren't animated yet. There is also a possibility of a sequel in the works since Kubo did a one-shot that is leading towards that.

How can you gaslight this hard?

-Trannies are excluded to the point of being considered A SEPARATE SPECIES. They're called "Newkama" and literally exiled to their own fricking island.
-The only other ones we've ever seen are locked way in a special floor of the prison representing hell.
-90% of the are portrayed as hilariously ugly with everyone reacting with disgust when they see them.
-Sanji in particular reacts hlariously negative to them. They spend two years trying to rape/convert him when he's trapped on their island. They edited it out of the dubs, but in the original translation he always calls them "fricking queers".
-He refers to his time on the island as "Hell's Memories" which he uses to fuel the flames of one of his attacks.
-In the Fishman Island arc he has to get a blood transfusion as a result of blood loss from all the half naked mermaid chicks he sees, he's so horrified when he discovers the transfusion was from two homosexuals he turns to solid stone.

                >literally an important member
How old are you, homosexual? Why are you typing shit phrased in this dumb way? Ivankov was inspired by an actual drag queen Oda met on a talk show who he thought was funny and wanted to create a character specifically for him to voice. That actor was later removed from the show for irl sex crimes. Seriously, google it.

The entire point of Luffy's desire to be pirate king is "I want to be a pirate because a pirate is free, and the king of the pirates is the most free and I want to be the most free." They're literally fighting "the world government" a shadow government that has concealed the world's true history for centuries. When addressing racism he's made a point to express that both sides of an issue are just as bad about it, as both humans and fishmen have been portrayed villainously.

The Newkama are still the constant butt of jokes and portrayed univerally as vile and ugly and literally referred to as another species.

Big Mom is literally a parody of feminists. She's a giant, fat, ugly pink-haired woman with a million kids obsessed with diversity who's dream is to have a child of every race who doesn't actually individually care about any of her children and displays signs of BPD as a result of her parents abandoning her when she was a child (I was going to say little, but b***h was already giant then.) Individually she doesn't care about any of her children and is constantly, obsessively eating, throwing tantrums destroying towns until she gets whatever snack she's craving. Her power involves consuming people's souls, the souls are placed into inanimate objects which come to life like disney cartoons.

She was a clear jab at the feminists always complaining about how he draws women.

If that's not going far enough to spell it out for you, Whitebeard, portrayed as the most morally good of the Emperors original symbol was a swastika. The editors forced him to change it after initial appearances.

The gays aren't universally treated as good either, far from it. Remember this evil little shit? Basically the entire Newkama island are portrayed as ugly rapists.

actually, i'm not a big fan of one piece so i don't care about your own theories and hidden political messages you think in it. you might have a point but i don't know.
i haven't read it for years, but still, those gays are not bad guys and their leader is one of the founders of revolutionary army that obviously takes an important role in the main plot. that's basically all i'm saying.

                Anonymous

                >those gays are not bad guys
This terminology is completely worthless in One Piece. They're still bad guys, they're just fighting other bad guys. Not every single one is bad, I like Bon Clay for example, but he was nonetheless introduced as a villain. Some of his best gags are about how ugly he is too. The entirety of Newkama Island (kambakka kingdom or however the frick it's spelled) are portrayed as rapists. Luffy allies with plenty of evil shits, including those he himself finds evil, like Crocodile and Caesar. Hell, in the current arc he's teaming up with CP0. Kid's crew crucifies people, Bege only joins organizations to betray and destroy them, the Whitebeard pirates symbol was originally a swastika, Germa 66 are overtly meant to be Nazis and even directly torment Sanji, yet in the end they rescue and ally with them against Big Mom.

That was to appease the people b***hing about Yamato, it was a compromise, "giving both sides what they want". This is immediately followed by him doing a 180 on the entire arc and deciding to leave Yamato behind on the island. Besides, neither is considered an actual troony. Yamato doesn't identify as a man, she says she's Oden, and it's not a real identity. When Luffy says to her "You aren't Oden." She replies "Okay, then you be Oden!" It's obviously more of a title to her. The only person who ever identifies her as male is Kaido, Kaido who at the time was trying to starve her to death and strapped a bomb to her arm. All the people who cared about her called her "orihime" Hime means princess. She's 100% female.

What’s funny is Oda apparently did this to appeal to a broader audience, but to anyone who isn’t already a passionate One Piece fan this looks like complete shit. Any average adult would think it’s targeted for kids, like Lazy Town. Set pieces, costume design, cinematography, acting, cgi, it’s all terrible.

I think One Piece can be put into live action akin to shows like Wednesday, The Witcher, GoT, etc. There aren’t exactly pirate tv shows out right now so that’s a plus. But all parties (Oda, fans, Netflix) need to accept that it has to evolve and change to fit the picture. Apart of that is taking itself seriously. Select some core ideas and themes and work off of those. Comic books movies never adapt 1:1.

All east blue arcs are low scale, as soon as they get to reverse mountain things start getting out of hand. Morgan? Buggys arc? Usopp? Baratie? Arlong park? All of those are set in random villages and shit. Fishmen and buggy would be the only things requring a lot of CG.

Timeskip. At the halfway point in the series the crew reaches an island and gets completely fricking destroyed. A character supposedly working for the Marines shows up and seemingly banishes each character to another end of the world, but actually he saw potential in them and used his power to send them each to an island specifically meant to enhance their specific skills. Luffy decides they should spend two years training at each place. The timeskip was used as an excuse to age up all the characters. All of the male crew (even Usopp) come back taller, more masculine and way buffer, and the women come back in skimpier outfits with breasts four times as big. With Nami it was a more gradual thing. In the very start of the series she looks like a little girl and has a very slight bust. By the time they reach Alabasta (way, way before the timeskip) she was already being drawn as at least a D cup. Oda has stated that post timeskip they're both like H cups or something.

The showrunner posted this. I can't find it, but he also posted one asserting Trump was Charlos (the villain Celestial Dragon.) He's a lefttard. I kind of feel bad for the left honestly, they don't have any politicians anyone actually likes anymore. Everyone loved Clinton, everyone loved Obama. Everyone hates every major Democrat politician nowadays, and in the rare instance one does become popular it's because they're bucking whatever their party's main narrative is at the time so the party moves in to crush them immediately. I'm saying all this because serious, Kamala? I can't think of a less charismatic politician. She got 1% of the vote in her HOME STATE. How fricking stupid and out of touch is this guy to have thought this was a good idea?

-Whitebeard, most moral of the pirate emperors, "Good old whitebeard" as Jinbei calls him used a swastika as his original symbol before the editors made Oda edit it.
-Germa 66 are literal nazis, Luffy allied with them against Big Mom.
-Big Mom is portrayed as evil for being obsessed with diversity and desiring a child of every race. She's an overt parody of feminists.
-The main villains are literally called "the world government".
-Trannies are portrayed as ugly and the butt of jokes, literally designated as another species and exiled to their own island where they're all portrayed as rapist perverts.

Just want to point out out before you continue this silly conversation, Okama are not trans. they are male crossdressers. They don't identify as women and they are a specific subculture in Japan, also while many are portrayed to be ugly, they're still the good guys and portrayed to be good at heart. Oda's whole idea for putting them in the series was becasue he met many Okama in sake bars in Japans and he thought they were good company.

                >Her dream is portrayed as having a child of every race so she can sit with all of them and have tea at one table.
And there's nothing wrong with that. It's the part where she kills people and drains their life to give life to inanimate objects that makes her evil. You know this.
                >I MADE UP THE TERM NEWKAMA?
I didn't say that. I said you made up them being designated as a separate species. There's no "newkama" on the auction house listings.

If they're exiled, why do we see people like Bon Clay or the two who were visiting Fishman Island (the same ones YOU mention as giving Sanji a blood transfusion) in places other than Kamabakka Kingdom? Because they're not exiled there.

And Caesar, but with Germa he earnestly treats them as allies. Even as they insult him before he departs he thanks them for complimenting Sanji. The only way to interpret the end of that arc was "Even Nazis are better than fat feminist morons obsessed with diversity and disney characters."
                >And there's nothing wrong with that.
That's your interpretation, it's portrayed as evil, ominous music plays when she describes it because it's gross and disgusting that she values diversity for no reason beyond optics and doesn't actually care about any of her children.
                >I didn't say that.
You did, why would they have a term for another species like Fishmen and Minks if they're considered the same? Duh.
                >There's no "newkama" on the auction house listings.
Because no one would ever want to buy one lmfao.
                >If they're exiled, why do we see people like Bon Clay or the two who were visiting Fishman Island (the same ones YOU mention as giving Sanji a blood transfusion) in places other than Kamabakka Kingdom? Because they're not exiled there.
Bon Clay has a devil fruit which lets him pretend to be female. He was working for a criminal organization when we first meet him, immediately after Alabasta he's imprisoned in Impel Down, where all the other newkama not on queer island are.

As for the two *homosexuals* on Fishsman Island, that's actually an important distinction here. They're not newkama, they're homosexuals. They're not crossdressing.

Kiku is just a crossdresser that actually passes. I always forget the name of the two, but there are two distinct types of male to female trannies, the first are "autogynephiles". They tend to be straight men, high IQ but autistic as frick with poor grooming who don't put any real effort into passing because as their name suggests, they're turned on by dressing like women and forcing others to pretend they are women. They're still attracted to actual women though. This is the type of troony all the newkama are portraying.

Kiku meanwhile is a member of the second type I forget the name of, these are your Blaire Whites, that one who used to be a Cinemaphile meme I forget the name of because I'm not into trannies, these are gay men who don't actually consider themselves women and have the opposite personality of the last group, low IQ but higher social intelligence. They focus on passing very well as women because their interest is appearing attractive to men. Kiku lusts after Kin'emon.

I suppose it is partially libertarian in that both dominant ideologies are presented as being in the wrong, both pirates and the navy. However I feel this is merely a coincidence as the One Piece world hasn't really advanced to the point of ideologies yet, it's still a dog eat dog world where the weak can do nothing but obey the powerful or die.

In case you haven't noticed, every time they make these adaptations everyone involved is suddenly a "huge fan" of the source material and then they make tons of changes to all the things they arbitrarily don't agree with and to insert their own fan fiction anyway. And in some cases they then even shit on the fans of the source material if they dare to point that out or criticize it.

My favorite gag with this character is his mane mane montage attack.

For those who don't follow the series, his gimmick is that he can shapeshift into anyone he's touched, but there are limitations, severe ones. He can't use any of their powers and taking their form locks him out of using his own style of martial arts, so it's purely a visual deception, but he can pick and choose which parts he wants to shapeshift. Anyway in this gag during his big fight with Sanji and he announces he's going to perform his "mane mane montage" attack. "I will horrify you by showing you the ugliest eyes, the grossest chin, the nastiest hair..." etc. combining all the weirdest features of people he's ever touched, then he reveals it and it's all his face except for Usopp's nose.

Usopp is like insanely ugly in anime, so ugly he creates a persona that wears a mask for a LONG time in manga/anime.
They make him look more black/african in live action.

I don't think i'm mad, it kinda works?

      Anonymous

      >so ugly he creates a persona that wears a mask for a LONG time in manga/anime.
Every part of this is wrong. His wearing the mask had nothing to do with his appearance, he puts on the mask and declares himself "Sogeking" because he had just quit the crew and didn't want to immediately come running back to them so he pretends he's someone else, and Luffy pretends to believe him so as not to damage his pride. And it's not "for a long time" it's for one arc. The Sogeking persona is used in the Ennies Lobby arc, and disappears immediately after.

          >I don't think he was pretending, anon
He was, Chopper actually believes his lies, Luffy just pretends to. This becomes clear later in Whole Cake Island. Sanji tells Luffy he hates him and attacks him and Luffy tells him straight away he knows he's lying. How could he see so easily through Sanji's lies but not Usopp's? He chooses to act as if he believes Usopp because he values Usopp's feelings.

How are people falling for this meme again. It's made by the same production studio as Bebop. Cast looks like laughably bad cosplayers just like the cast of Bebop. The visuals look just as desaturated, bland and look hilarious when contrasted with the goofy CG and costumes. How can you cope that this will be anything other than another laughably bad failure that premieres at #1 as Netflix's most watched slop and then gets canceled week's later like Bebop and Resident Evil.

Well, the difference is that the source material for Cowboy Bebop was pretty decent, while the source material for One Piece is complete dogshit. From that perspective, a bad Cowboy Bebop series is a failure compared to the anime, but for One Piece, it cannot possibly be worse than its anime/manga.

Zack Snyder at helm with James Cameron's vfx crew and screenwriting effort from George Martin and Peter Jackson should make this adaptation. Not some Shitflix fathered studio

Snyder already made a proper adaptation of another "unadaptable" comic book. George Maritn has written for Elden Ring so he's fine in my book. And later One piece is better at large scale battle royale than Game of thrones itself and was clearly inspired by it. And Cameron's crew is simply the best in the market.

No he didn't. He made a movie that used slow-motion to make "epic" fight scenes and gave Ozymandias a Schumacher-Batman style costume with fake abs and nipples
          Snyder can go to hell

Movie language, have you heard of it? You can't adapt straight from the page it would be dick tracey tier at best. Ozymandias shittly look from 40's comic book covers would look ridiculous on the big screen and you know it. Anyway, it's funny that it's like your biggest gripes with the movie, just shows how clueless Snyder haters are
