I don't understand studios, they have every opportunity to create a sensation and gain 100s of millions of viewers, but they frick it up because they need to tick some boxes and appease a handful of people on twitter and r*ddit.
I actually don't mind how he looks, and even his voice after a little while, but whoever wrote his dialogue and personality deserves to be sawn in half lengthways. I've only seen the first two episodes, but so far he's maybe 5% Luffy and 95% spouting exposition or saying something to force the plot along.
He was raised by his Grandpa, who in turn is disappointed in him because Luffy didn't want to become a Marine. Also because Garp is pretty busy as Vice Admiral, Luffy was mostly raised by mountain bandits together with Ace

nah, he has some supernatural power named 'haki'. in the manga/anime it's existence is sort of lowkey teased throughout the story until eventually luffy and some others gain/unlock it as well. generally it is stronger than most devil fruits, because it fricks with the opponents psyche or nature of reality or something.
there are also different kinds of levels of this power with the conqueror's haki, which shanks possesses, being the most powerful among them. well, that is until oda makes up some new overpowered asspull eventually.

I know who Eiichiro Oda is but not Marc Jobst. Is he famous in the anime world? Is he a brilliant artist? Why should I care about his new ideas? Obviously you must come up with a new plot rather than making a verbatim repeat of the anime, but if you change most of the iconic characters it becomes unrecognizable, it stops being one piece and becomes a rip off that for some reason still pays royalties to the creator.

I actually don't mind how he looks, and even his voice after a little while, but whoever wrote his dialogue and personality deserves to be sawn in half lengthways. I've only seen the first two episodes, but so far he's maybe 5% Luffy and 95% spouting exposition or saying something to force the plot along.

nah, he has some supernatural power named 'haki'. in the manga/anime it's existence is sort of lowkey teased throughout the story until eventually luffy and some others gain/unlock it as well. generally it is stronger than most devil fruits, because it fricks with the opponents psyche or nature of reality or something.
there are also different kinds of levels of this power with the conqueror's haki, which shanks possesses, being the most powerful among them. well, that is until oda makes up some new overpowered asspull eventually.
