Family guy did insert a gag into an episode insinuating Matt and Trey were gay in response to their criticism of the show, so your post isn't entirely accurate, even if it was a comparatively small gag.

In fairness that gag was cut from the released episode, it’s a deleted scene

That looks bad for FG then. SP attacked the show's originality and it got so under Seth's skin he couldn't think of anything but resort to namecalling, and was still ashamed of even trying to.

Which I don’t think was ever personal. Matt and Trey, in their own words, “hate celebrities,” which is why they never let someone play themselves in South Park (like Clooney). They hate anyone who has a media presence even though they lap up all the attention they get from SP. It’s just the equivalent to the class clown despising that someone else gets attention for once and then throwing a fit about it. Seth is a very extroverted guy and isn’t afraid of doing shit like calling out Weinstein at the Oscars, while Matt and Trey caved in on that episode where they couldn’t show the Muslim sky daddy because it might offend some third worlders.

And they caved to Comedy Central. So it's not about the art, but the money. Matt gotta fund that vineyard somehow. Funny how they shit on the rich when they themselves ARE those rich douchebags now. Gen Xers are the biggest hypocrites around. Spent their young adult years saying how much the "hate the man and what society wants" and then go do everything the man and society wants and when confronted they say "whatever, man."

They let him play the gay dog, and voice a doctor in the movie. They put on this front that they are edgy when really its all about maintaining the illusion that half the people they're making fun of wouldn't absolutely take the piss out of themselves. You think Matt Damon wouldn't hop in a booth to shout his own name like a moron? These people prostitute themselves out for a living. The joke isn't edgy if the celebrity is in on it.

Also Matt and Trey don't mock everyone equally. They refuse to do an episode on Elon Musk or joke about him once because they personally know him. I don't know what that guy has on the both of them that they refuse to ridicule.

I’ve lost count of the number of times they’ve made fun of racist white rednecks and whites who think it’s ok to say Black person, and white cops “discriminating” against blacks, but they’ve always been dead silent refusing to say a single thing offensive about nigs. George Floyd riots? Nope, not gonna even speak about it once. Token and every other black? Rich and refined and well mannered and always morally right. Michelle Obama? The best woman to ever exist and beats up Cartman for being a chud.

They had two separate, entire episodes of Trey’s self insert apologizing and coping to Token for white man racism, it’s hilarious how buckbroken that man is. Didnt pre S5 South Park used to have actual special guests voicing themselves? Heck, Clooney voiced the doc in the movie.

Many people like to point out the Chef Misunderstanding with scientology and them doing "The return of Chef" as revenge as the point of no return on them goin all sour on everyone, but i believe it was mostly because of their own personal lifes going trough hell, dont know which one of em got the japanese wife, but from what i heard, she was basically will smith's wife levels of bitter witch, and them doing drugs i heard, but i can be wrong.

Matt and Trey are insecure man babies who are so fricking boring the punchline to 3/4s of anything they write is "haha you cared about something" and are a contributing cause to the current "being smart is dumb so I'm going to be the dumbest motherfricking dumbass I can be" trend.

They rail on Family Guy like they didn't have a bigfoot analog called scuttlebutt with Patrick Duffy for a leg or write a big song called "What would Brian Boytano do?" or have the queer eye guys be crab people.

I mean Seth's quality is all over the place, but he's launched way more projects and isn't a complete dickbag every time he goes out in public.

No it's not. South Park more often tries to have some kind of message to care about more often than it does "nothing matters ecks dee". That's more of a Rick and Morty thing and even that show still commits to some things having meaning. I don't think you actually watched South Park to a significant degree and just got your opinions on it from youtube essay thumbnails and twitter posts.

He really isn't. The problem with Trump is that he would outdo himself so frequently that every topical joke about him has a shelf life of 2 weeks. Imagine debuting a new joke that you think is special worthy only to be met with "Why are you talking about that? It's ancient history" when it isn't even a month old.

They could've pulled an entire arc bit about Stan's granddad magically winning the election despite not campaigning and being dead last in popularity polling, and then having him dotter about the whitehouse as a senile old bastard. Just like they did with Garrison. It might not have been especially funny, but it at least would've been principled. But they didn't even consider it because Biden is on "their team" so they grit their teeth and bear it whilst Biden makes a fool of himself and the country.

FG gays are the very definition of "can dish it, but can't take it". They try to mock Bojack and even take credit for its cancelation (somehow), but bring up South Park and they try to deflect that Matt and Trey are stupid libcucks or something.

Drawn together creators vs South park

This is a pretty normal episode of South Park, especially early seasons, tbqh

OMG i just noticed that kenny is the only one surviving that bloodbath.

I must be mistaken, but wasn't the Drawn Together staff's hatred of South Park less on the show itself and more that Comedy Central continued to hold the show abover their heads as to what they needed to aspire for?

I forgot if it was legit Comedy Central cancelling them for not being as popular was true or not.

Hard reaching, all of this. None of Chef’s episode for example was shitting on Hayes, he was brainwashed by actual molestors (all white) then broke free and saved the kids and they all mourned his loss
Fricking hell all of Chef’s jokes while he was on the show were just jokes about how big his dick is because he’s black, and how every woman in South Park wants him to frick them

except for the chef soundboard of him wanting to rape the kids, then the violent even for south park death they gave him. you cant tell me that wasnt shitting on him

        Anonymous

The whole entire plot was that he didn’t, and was brainwashed, and so they break him out of it. A character dying isn’t shitting on or insulting them either.

          Anonymous

but he also went back to the group that brainwashed him him. and having chef fall off a burning bridge onto some sharp crags, be impaled on a log, be slowly ripped apart by two animals then have him literally shit on himself is shitting on him. all the times kenny had died from crazy shit hes never died in such a way.

          Anonymous

That entire episode was made because they were told Hayes hated their show now due to the scientology episode. They WERE too harsh and now that Hayes is dead they have to live with the fact they dishonored his memory over a lie for the rest of their lives. They never mentally recovered from that, too, and it shows.

This was more the fault of those around hayes controlling him. The episode specifically targeted the "fruity little club".

He wasn't (falsely) accused of molesting kids until 1992 or 1993, a few years after he had committed to public whiteface. He didn't really change his behaviour, it's just the vampires descended upon him when they thought his blood would be tastiest.

To be fair I don't really see the problem with shows ribbing each other if they're on the same network. It's almost like a sibling rivalry thing. The South Park thing though was just a hack job aimed at their competition.

I think Cinemaphile is just looking for drama where there is none. These showrunners all have it made, they're locked into syndication for eternity. They've won at life. You don't have to have hurt feelings to throw shade at another show. That's just what you do in a parody format.

That doesn't mean I think it's always in good taste though, that Simpsons bumper where Glenn rapes Marge until she likes it and kills Maggie is just kinda... much.

Why do millennials talk like this? They can't talk like normal human beings, they always speak with this obnoxious air of condension, snark and passive aggressivism. If the normal sentence was "I think The Simpsons is overrated; South Park was always funnier", the millennial version would be "Ummmm okay? When are we gonna talk about how 90% percent of South Park is secretly better than the Simpsons, actually"

Zero testosterone, so they are afraid of having to commit to something out of fear of being confronted on it. They always try to word things such that they personally are disassociated from the contents of the statement. Look at your hypothetical, at how it's worded more to appeal to popularity. Not a statement of personal belief, but rather "X is a fact and there is something wrong with YOU if you disagree. Don't shoot the messenger ;)"

Family Guy constantly shit on Bojack's work, but as far as I know Bojack never even knew Family Guy existed.

You can have it one way, but not both.

Trey and Matt were always above making fun of kid's cartoons for a laugh because they were never vying for eyes that were already watching kid's cartoons. Hell, they didn't even bother pointing the finger at FOX's lineup because they still can't say certain words on-air.

South Park is in no possition to mock another's work.

Family Guy constantly shit on Bojack's work, but as far as I know Bojack never even knew Family Guy existed.

You can have it one way, but not both.

Because it's beneath both of them and, as far as anyone can tell, they've never watched kid's cartoons to see what's popular.

honestly I'd say Family Guy's jabs at Robot Chicken, Bob's Burgers, and even The Cleveland Show* were a LOT meaner(and not even the funny or clever kinds of mean, just bitter hatefulness) than South Park's jabs at Family Guy and Ted

*the others make sense in a "making fun of the competition" kind of way but them doing cracks at Cleveland Show after it ended and Cleveland returned to Family Guy always felt self defeating on top of being weirdly bitter to a sibling series
