It's just ultimate soul
They're timeless
Their style is in most of Aardman's films.
>people still talk about them
who?

there's a new meme about them every couple years, seen a bunch of random animations featuring them appear on YouTube recently
The first 3 shorts are a perfect artist arc:
Grand Day Out is rough, but full of personality and creativity. The rocket has wallpaper inside. The control panel has a toaster.
The Wrong Trousers has less novelty and a moderate amount of character moments, but more skill and a bigger budget.
A Close Shave has almost nothing new in terms of character, but is the absolute peak of talent, and polished to a shine.
The creative arc ends here. It's why no one likes the 4th short or the film. No more novelty, no more increasing returns on investment or skill.

The film was kino
By "no one likes it" I meant I don't like it.
The film wasn't bad at all, doesn't feel as classic as the first 3, but I still enjoyed it. Also the game was comfy
NTA but I loved Project Zoo as a kid. Never played the movie game though.
Movie game was kino. Open world exploring a comfy English town. Also you could hit the characters and they'd yell at you.
I feel like if the warehouse storing all of the movie assets hadn't burned down they would've made more shorts and things with the characters they created for Were-Rabbit. Aardman were probably closely involved with the game's development like with Project Zoo and helped write the townsfolk who are nothing but glorified extras in the film. I prefer the second game for it's comfy open world structure. I never played the point and click but it's probably the genre Wallace and Gromit is best suited for in a game.
We missed out on the claykino timeline
The film was great
The fourth short is too fast-paced and the humor is less nuanced, with some tweaking I think it could've reached a level similar to A Close Shave but it didn't get the writing it needed for the job.
a dog is fine too
Wensleydale~
Aardman style definitely works better with human characters than talking animals. I enjoyed W&C shorts and Pirates! a lot more than Chicken Run
I just recently played through the Telltale game for a podcast and enjoyed it. Kind of miss the supporting cast that doesn't appear in anything else.
Agreed, been meaning to rewatch Pirates.
That film is coming back to vue cinemas soon, I think I might rewatch it like that.
Watched it a few days, thought it was excellent, especially as a Cinemaphile gay myself
This thread is such an American mindset, imagine thinking you need 20+ seasons, 5 movies, a million reboots and spinoffs and a whole expanded universe for your series to be considered worth a damn.
Learn to appreciate quality, not quantity, anon.
I could've sworn there was something new involving them recently.
New short in 2024 plus they make commercials every so often
by being funny
There's a new film coming out apparently.
Also no shit people are going to talk about them when they pushed the boundaries of an entire medium of animation. It's like being shocked people still talk about Roger Rabbit.
>There's a new film coming out apparently.
Really? I know the Peter Sallis soundalike is good but I figured they'd never do more features or specials without the og cast. I think Nick Park even said that. It's been over a decade since we had an actual W&G film.
Maybe if Aardman are struggling financially they'd need to lean on Wallace & Gromit again. The Chicken Run sequel seems unnecessary. But I thought Shaun the Sheep was their big cash cow these days even if Early Man flopped.
>hello grommit im gay
