it's audiovisually good, and there are a few pretty decent scenes, but overall it's not great from a story/character perspective. but that's sort of Refn's work in a nutshell. outside Drive and Pusher, his films merely look good without much else going on.
Read the script before the movie was released and it seemed great. It had a very dynamic plot and Julian actually spoke to multiple people like a normal person. When the movie came out 2/3 of the plot in that early script was cut and Refn seemed more interested in showing us a collage of still images than a movie. 6/10.
Watch the documentary on Refn when they were filming and you'll realize Refn himself knew if was a piece of shit, but he had his ego boosted by receiving applause at a film festival.
My sincere opinion, whether anyone likes it or not, is that it's a masterpiece, a top ten since 2010 and Refn's only good film (I haven't seen Pusher but at this point I'm writing any more Refn off).
I like to listen to the weird karaoke music sung by the office who cuts his hands off when I'm druk. like another anon said, it definitely comes across like a weird dream and I don't think I'd watch it again without getting somewhat intoxicated first
Wanna fight?
Mr Hands, but not the one you think of.
TAKE IT OFF
autism and pretty lights
A shitty movie trying to present a flaming homosexual as a tough guy
Frick off gay
silence
pretentious refn slop
>/pol/cels hate it
Even further cemented as kino
Rent free.
It's good if you accept it like a fever dream. I recommend watching it high on weed.
Sequel to Drive
prequel*

He did the same with Drive where he cut out all the dialogue

God is a thai
and he does not forgive
it's really shit.
keeno
It's kino, but not as good as drive or BD. Refn admitted he had no idea what he was doing.
Autism.

Pusher trilogy is pure kino. Even his good stuff after that (few and far between), you can still sense that he's stuck in fart-huffing mode.

Is this the movie where anon is an autistic extra that shuffles uncomfortably while looking at the camera?
No that’s place beyond the pines
Ah, thanks!
Two people made the show fun, none of the being the Goose.
A film better than Drive, despite Refn not knowing what he was doing while making it.
