X-Men is a franchise that massively underperformed when compared with the MCU, and ended with two huge bombs. The Deadpool spinoffs were the only things that were really making MCU-level money. The first Blade movie started the last 25 years of Marvel movies, but most normies didn't even know it was a comic book movie, so X-Men didn't really ride it's coat tails, and was out BEFORE Spider-Man.

The Spider-Man movies of the 2000s were massively more successful than the X-Men were. They performed well enough to keep getting sequels, but they weren't coming anywhere close to the level of Spider-Man, the MCU, or The Dark Knight and DKR.
