They dont even need Tobey, After NWH they can put Tom in whatever direction, it just has to be the right direction. Plus they have Venom so they really have all the ingredients they need.

But yeah they dont even own the only interesting part of the MCU right now.

      >They dont even need Tobey, After NWH they can put Tom in whatever direction
Maybe, but Tobey is literally the only reason NWH was so successful, nostalgia was the only reason people liked that movie

      >But yeah they dont even own the only interesting part of the MCU right now.
That's true, they shouldn't have done NWH so soon, now who will care about whatever is going on at Phase 4 when all people want is more Spider-man? It's just poor decision making when all people want is more of the character you don't own

        Anonymous

        >but Tobey is literally the only reason NWH was so successful
It was successful because it's a Spiderman movie combined with the multiverse aspect.
Tobey alone didn't do it and saying he's the only reason is just giving him too much credit.

About 98% of the people that went to see NWH did it because Tobey was in it, you're naive if you actually believe people went to see it because of the MCU connections
He's also the only reason you don't see anons here calling it a piece of shit movie

btw I couldn't care less about the nostalgiabait shit but I have to face the facts and realize that the only reason it was so popular was because it had Tobey Maguire, Spider-Man will continue to be a cash cow for Sony but Tobey Maguire will take it one step further, that is until people get sick of him

Iron Man 3, Civil War, Endgame, even Far From Home, a Spiderman movie.
Not only that but by only giving credit to Tobey you're undermining all of the other aspects of No Way Home, including the entire team and actors, and that's just an insult to the the film.

Spider-Man can't save the MCU because they don't even own all the rights to that stuff. It's not like Batman where you can literally just make Batman the star and have everything play off him if DC wasn't completely moronic with moronic actors that keep having personal problems.

The MCU really thrives because of the overall narrative of the universe. Right now, there's nothing to really look forward to so people are judging these movies solely on their own and they either are divided on it like most of their movies have been, or they don't watch at all like Shang-Chi and Ms. Marvel no matter how much critics dicksuck those projects.

I know it's hard, but try to forget about what comics sell better than others, and take an actual look at movie box office. Out here in the real world, FF and the X-Men ARE the C-list, getting absolutely mogged by Ant-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy, characters comic fans thought of as Literally Who?

Now put yourself in the shoes of a Disney exec and ask yourself why you think franchises that underperformed, franchises whose last movies were bombs, are something you'd be banking on as the future of the MCU, or regarding as surefire hits?

        Anonymous

Because the mcu movies all underperformed since the endgame.
No one has anything good to say about them and no one is excited for anything

They could get away with antman and gotg and the like because the mcu was hot. But the bombs, no worse then bombs, ip destroying debacle movies and shows burned up every small nit of good will they earned for masonic agenda and lgbtqa and feminist shilling.

Xmen was the last ace they had left up their sleeve. But some absolute imbecile ir lunatic did that thing with the illuminati in MoM. They burned everything to the ground and salted the earth after with that scene.

They don't take it seriously and in fact hate the mcu brand and people who enjoy it.
People who can't fo or create instead enjoy infecting corruption snd destroying what's already created. When those people are let into a successful anything it's days are numbered.

X-Men is a franchise that massively underperformed when compared with the MCU, and ended with two huge bombs. The Deadpool spinoffs were the only things that were really making MCU-level money. X-Men wasn't "an ace up their sleeve", it was a brand tainted by failure, something they needed to wait a good long time before they tried relaunching.

          >masonic agenda and lgbtqa and feminist shilling.
I just can't get past how so many of the old school comic fans who don't want any woke crap in their movies are also massive X-gays who think an X-Men movie in the 2020s is going to somehow be less woke than the recent MCU movies have been. How does anyone's mind work like that?

            Anonymous

Original Spiderman didn't do nearly as well as thor yhe dark world. With adjustment for inflation.

A lot of why the mcu works is the interconnected movies and making it a big event with a huge diverse set of people.

Anyway, the xmen only did so well because of the cartoon and comic at the time. And it being on the coat tails of the blade and Spiderman comicovie Renaissance.
Nothing fox or singer did was any good or resonated well with the audience.
            Save gkr a few characters.

The xmen will get the Disney rape hammer and be made I to shit. thats a fact. But the brand if handled well and with care by people who don't have to push the message has real potential.

              >Original Spiderman didn't do nearly as well as thor yhe dark world. With adjustment for inflation.
Are you sure you're doing that right? Adjust for inflation and the entire Tobey trilogy would make over a billion each. Even if you don't adjust, they all still made more than Thor 2 did.

The first Blade movie started the last 25 years of Marvel movies, but most normies didn't even know it was a comic book movie, so X-Men didn't really ride it's coat tails, and was out BEFORE Spider-Man.

I don't know how you could possibly think the comic that's been MUH MINORITIES for decades is ever going to have a movie that doesn't "push the message". Your only hope of that happening is if they limit themselves to Deadpool or Wolverine solo projects.

The Spider-Man movies of the 2000s were massively more successful than the X-Men were. They performed well enough to keep getting sequels, but they weren't coming anywhere close to the level of Spider-Man, the MCU, or The Dark Knight and DKR.

              >everyone kind of wanted to see the o0s cartoon/cool 90s version on the big screen...
By "everyone", you mean "90s kids who watched the cartoon". We're on a forum of nerds where 99% of us probably saw all of them, but most normies probably only saw the Deadpools. A lot of people here have trouble accepting that the thing that was the most popular comic of the 80s and 90s just didn't connect so well with people as a movie.

There are 90s kids who have nostalgia for the X-Men cartoon, but that doesn't translate into normies as a whole caring more about a character than they otherwise would have because now she's part of a fictional race.

They have to make normies care about X-Men more than Fox ever managed to before you get them feeling like they need to see this show to get an 'important piece of lore'.
