Matte is there for a reason, esp. with a director like kubrick who wanted everything framed as he saw it. Unless you want to see boom mics and Jennifer Aniston's nips there's no reason to watch open matte
>Unless you want to see Jennifer Aniston's nips
And the problem with that is?
Movie?
Bruce Almighty
the break-up (2006)
>with a director like kubrick
you don't want to miss a single detail when watching kubrick, so a screen ratio that chops bits off is unacceptable
exactly
Kubrick filmed it with 4:3 in mind. I think the idea was to make it have the same ratio as the hotel hallways.
Always open matte more=better, simple as
Matte sucks, glossy all the way
Watching open matte without having seen the matted version is like listening to commentary on the first viewing.
When I'm actually watching a film and immersed in it I don't care, nor do I notice.
either one you prefer. they composed each shot for both viewings.
That's actually incredibly interesting.
Is there more of these?
whichever aspect ratio was the intended one originally
That’s up for the viewer to pick
Whatever aspect ratio the director intended.
pff don't let the director bully you around
Full matte you fricking Black person.
>full screen
>mutilates both the top and bottom of the screen
What was meant?
Makes zero difference to me.
whatever the intended aspect ratio is. open matte is never intended.
If you watch open mattes you are disrespecting the director's artistic vision and it's basically the same as spitting in their face and calling them a stupid piece of shit.
>tfw my copy is the 1080p version
where do you find the open matte releases? spoonfed me pls
Old full screen DVD of shining has it
How about whichever was intended by the director.
Fullscreen (widescreen)
I want it to fill my screen
Make it work!
As long as the colors aren't fricked with I'm ok with either.
