Why are they not using a USB flash?
>IMAX cameras are still using film because the digital format does not yet offer the same image quality. The large-format images that IMAX theaters are known for require a very high resolution, and current digital formats do not yet have that level of detail.
Just save it in a higher resolution?
Film is basically infinite resolution with a little bit of noise.
how can film be infinite res when our eyes can only see 30fps
Bro what the hell are you saying?
this is bait and it's not even good bait
like half of the posts ITT are shitposts you homosexual this is the one that got your attention
>OLD THING GOOD!
>Ehrm, you do know that film resolution is basically INFINITE, right
>OLD THING SO GOOD THAT THERE'S NOT A NEW THING EQUIVALENT YET
yes
why are you moronic?
>Film is basically infinite resolution w
Ever heard of the Rayleigh limit? Actual natural light has a resolution limit
Has someone calculated the digital equivalent size of the USB needed to bring same level quality? What could it be 10 Gb? 300Gb?
2gb is more than enough
A10/v10 thanks yify
It's not really a problem of storage. It's the problem of capturing a range of visual characteristics and then projecting them onto a gigantic screen. Digital has more flexibility but looses out on some familiar signals we take for granted in everyday life.
>Let me just shove this petrol lawnmower up in your face for your silent, contemplative close-up...
Sounds about white.
usb flash drives cannot contain the kinography
>Oppenheimer.2023.1080p.Bluray.x265
>2.25Gb
I don't see the problem.
The public wouldn't notice if you put on a yify rip in an imax screening.
what is added benefit of using video tapes? We thought America is technologically advanced country.
It's film not video tape
just scan it into computer and save to usb. Not hard.
oh yeah? are you commercializing PB sized disks? we are gonna need a dozen for storing a movie thanks
come by Cinemaphile friend, you need to not make a fool of yourself on public and catch up on the science *smirks behind you*
uhhhh.... ever heard of COMPRESSION. pff and you call yourself a nerd.
When will boomers stop pushing their outdated garbage?
They’re still developing the technology.
There is some resolution loss, allegedly. They haven’t perfected the digitalization according to film auteurs when it comes to the 65mm, 70mm (whatever the max imax settings are).
I don’t watch the imax movies either way. I’m just reporting what they’re saying.
>outdated
There were a handful of scientific paper written by people like Zeiss and ARRI that boiled down to
>2k sucks and its wholly inferior to 35mm film and you should at least use 2k
All in the early 2000's. They got ignored and 2k spread like wildfire and set cinemaback decades.
IMAX has successfully resisted going through the same money driven (it's about making post cheaper so enjoy your PS3 cutscene cgi) digital downgrade. It's not outdated, it's better than anything digital has to offer at the same prices.
Wtf is this shit? Why don't they just upload a file?
zoomers should be castrated and lobotomized
Shut the frick up, schizo. You will be skinned alive for that.
We are zoomers, and we are scared for our lives. Please someone help us. Homeland Security please help. FBI.
>NOOOOOO I NEED TO SEE ALL OF THE ACTOR'S INDIVIDUAL SKIN PORES TO ENJOY THE FILM!!!
they don't have balls to take because they are trannies or brains to labotomize
I think it was a joke
just get a 1080p yify rip wut r u stoopid?
who cares, the human eye can't see above 720p anyways. anything more than this is bloat
This has been debunked. A human with excellent vision can differentiate up to 160 pixels (80 intensity pairs) per degree of field of view. It's possible to see the difference between 4K and 8K video, but depends on the size of the display and the distance from the viewer.
Great because I absolutely must see into Cillian's pores if I am to enjoy this film
I think it depends on the film. If it were a space or nature documentary, then sure, it makes sense.
But this seems like an odd movie to focus on the visual effects.
Capeshit seems like a better place to eye candy.
>Capeshit seems like a better place to eye candy.
you dont know shit, theres a reason all capeshit is shot digital.
Tell that to Nolan.
I don't often laugh at Cinemaphile, but I laughed at this.
How are you going to enjoy a film about atomic bombs if you can't even see the atoms?
Enjoy that 720p image projection onto a screen the size of the entire building
Why not just ship it in two or three parts?
IMAX is just basically the same as HDR, what pretentious poseur bullshit.
The cinematic equivalent of this.
those things always make me laugh so hard. audiophiles are morons
>'no you don't understand I need this shielding to hear it at the best quality'
>the music was recorded with cables like this
Sorry anon, my sound snake got loose. I'll put him back in his cage
Those are slugs
it's to protect against electrical infetterence
why do you come to a television and film board if you hate television and film so much?
>using the sound snake to listen to a 128 kbps mp3 file
That's a big bundle of wire
4 u
>the actual connection is bare metal exposed to air
audiophiles just insert the bare metal in their anus. It's conductive audio.
WE'RE GONNA NEED A BIGGER BOAT
Doesn't Nolan understand technology? All that would fit nicely onto one of these.
There are 20TB 3.5s? Jesus
How about 30TB ssds?
I hate the fricking marketing for this film. Like I get it, it's hard to make people go to the theater to watch a film about old guys talking, but I'm tired of hearing how this film is so technically impressive that I'll be admitted into a mental asylum after seeing it.
It's the same with every nolan movie. Remember the shit from tenet?
Will Nolan post another special message for his Indian fans? https://youtu.be/kHfbDbpdJVE
Digital cinematography(done right) looks better than film and you all know it.
The only problem is that it’s lower barrier to entry opened for floodgates for talentless morons. People don’t know how to expose properly anymore, they don’t know how to use lighting as a storytelling tool, they don’t know make the proper adjustments in post. The difference is jarring when you have an actual cinematographer shooting digital.
Examples of standout digital cinematography?
Blade Runner 2049 is a good example. The movie was just okay but it’s beautifully shot.
Fincher (Gone Girl, Girl w/ Dragon Tattoo)
Refn (Only God Frogives, Neon Demon)
Those are probably the best examples. Also, Lynch used digital for Twin Peaks: The Return and I think he tried to make it intentionally look flat and lifeless.
nolan is reddit and im tired of pretending hes not
That's pretty cool actually
>yo nolan, send the catbox link homie
problem solved
>not having an intermission during a 3 hour film
And then wonder why the typical adhd zoomer doesn't go watch it
