>originally written to be gay for Garak
>writers scrap this
>becomes Dax's love interest
>gets retconned into a genetically engineered superautist because the writers fricked up in earlier episodes
>gets KEKED by Worf's BKC (big klingon wiener)
>continues to be gay and british for the rest of the show
>Dax dies LOL

He was never gay. You're projecting your own insecurities onto a fictional character that always showed interest to women
>He was never gay
He was. The writers have talked about this. In the pilot their original plan was for him and Garak to eventually become a gay couple
The writers only say that now to make themselves look better. It's not true. They're lying.
It's JK Rowling levels of moronic retconning.
>Oh, people think this character I wrote is gay?
>That was my idea all along
>He's a MASSIVE queer
Dr. Bashir was never a homosexual in the past, but he is now in Star Trek lore. nuTrek is so fricking shit. Every single time I hear about something post Abrams, it's just the gayest, dumbest, most unoriginal shit you've ever heard of.
It's my generation bro. Millenials are beyond cringe, I wish i could gas my entire generation, even zoomer writers wouldn't be this bad
it’s mainly gen x pushing this, just like it’s mainly gen x having emotional breakdowns over sentimental moments in the slop du jour. the moron who’s showrunner for true detective s4 ruining that franchise? A GenX roastie. Millennials are pretty cancerous, but most of this shit started with gen x. Millennials and zoomers just made the horrendous decision to emulate the worst of Gen X.
>it’s mainly gen x pushing this
Suck it zoomer scum
canceling people, taking a moronic pointless moral stand without actually doing anything, making everything cynical and layered in irony, all the moronic quipping, and self-infantalizing with childish hobbies/tastes all started with GenX, like it or not. Millennials saw them as the cool older siblings and zoomers are either their children or saw how millennials emulated them and followed suit.
>Millennials saw them as the cool older siblings
That's cause we are
you have emotional breakdowns over Disneyslop on twitter, and started a never-ending cultural revolution which millennials and zoomers mindlessly perpetuate now. that’s your legacy.
that and grunge and new jack swing, yes
you're welcome
>it's a "Jeffrey Combs stars as multiple characters" episode
frick yeah
imagine having pointless generational dick measuring contests instead of realizing israelites pit you against each other while they rob the country blind
Bashir and Garak are obviously gays, anyone who isn't autistic could tell from the first scene they were introduced.
They were not gays, they just weren't manly men. Bashir was a doctor, ffs. Should he have been out chopping space wood every day to prove his heterosexuality?
>Bashir was a doctor, ffs
so was he
McCoy was having arguments with Spock like a married couple.
im a lumberjack and im ok
bashir isn't gay he's just british
mccoy was a bit fruity as well 2bh
Bones was slaying pussy down at the Regal Beagle every Lady's Night.
Worse. The show was getting a ton of shit about avoiding the gay topic despite many opportunities and so the writers try to bullshit that they wanted to but "the suits" stopped them when really it was the nineties and everyone though gays were weird and predatory.
>it was the nineties and everyone though gays were weird and predatory
turns out, they were right
This, it happens in movies&tv shows, ridley scott made deckard a replicant in blade runner after decades of fan theories and then claimed it was his plan all along while everybody else involved in the original movie was very clear that deckard was a human.
The guys who did avatar the legend of korra made her lesbian in the last season and claimed that was always their plan while anybody with half a brain could see it was only forced in the last season when they knew they where cancelled.
>Ten years ago a lesbian heroine in a children’s cartoon was shocking
>Now it’s the norm
The slippery slope is real.
>gay couple
stop your jibba jabba fool
>lies in a documentary made 20 years later
What kind of person would do this?
Garak was never intended to be a recurring chatacter (until andrew robinson knocked it out of the fricking park) and didnt so much as exist in the pilot, but bashir's very first scene was him walking onto the promenade with dax, trying to score a date. You are unbelieveably full of shit.
see:
>he was gay and hitting on poor O'Brien.
Ira making up absolute horseshit decades later because it's popular with a certain awful subgroup of the fandom for years. Where have we seen this before?
Doctor Julian was extremely homosexual, no matter how many women he boned.
>Genetically enhanced twink cries about being genetically enhanced
He tried to bang jadzia from episode 1 wtf are you on about gayatron
Lol, fool.
that's not a real quote, homosexual
If that was a reason then they shouldn't have cast Andrew Robinsons daughter as his own damn love interest
His daughter was in DS9, but she never played Ziyal m8
Garak is definitely gay, Bashir is bi.
It's very clearly telegraphed in Bashir and Garak's first interaction. Garak is really handsy with him. As others have said, the writers tuned all that down.
still based and and he gets best dax in the end (ezri)
I forgot about that yeah.
cucks worf back
Are they smoking drugs?
Jadzia was used goods anyway, Julian got to be with Ezri, a pure virgin. Gays are malding about this 20 years later, because their buttholes are loose
Wasn't Ezri with the Klangon as well?
Worf gets a pass because he acts less Klangon than anyone else in his race
This. He was adopted to the suburbs. It’s why other Klingons think he’s such a dork, and his overdoing certain Klingon things is his massive cope.
Worf is okay, he's one of the good ones
yea. from kurzon onward dax and all his symbiotes ended up being huge ridge racers.
She got fricked by Worf first.
Which is so fricking stupid to me why they would do that, it was a mad cringe subplot that went nowhere anyway. Prophets above those last few episodes were such dogshit.
I wish they went through with it, probably would've gotten more Garak episodes.
Wharf is the worst character in Startreck
>thinking based Garak wasn't pounding Kardi puss non-stop when he was younger
He was only doing it for the mission. Cardassian females will spill the beans after a good dicking.
A closet case spy having to play "James Bond" and wincing in disgust as he plows through mountains of femme fatale puss is a very funny concept.
That's why Henry Cavill would be so funny as Bond.
scrap this
Than kgoodness. I' mso sick of gays everywhere. I was told they were just like normal people except for the buttsex part which was to happen in the privacy of their homes. It was a lie. I never met a gay I could stand.
what annoys me is that they are all obsessed with proving that everyone else also wants to secretly frick their own sex so that they dont feel weird.
tbh as cringe as this is, it’s just typical coomer wishful thinking. you’re probably right in that part of it is trying to feel validation, but a lot of it is just being able to imagine they could have a shot.
the rest of it is bluster to try to drag down anyone they perceive as fitting the unreachable masculine ideal.
it’s similar to celebrity worship where people circlejerk over some celebrity one day, only to try to tear them down for whatever fault the next. gays will list over some perceived perfectly masculine dude one day, then once it seems like a consensus is into him, try to find faults in his masculinity the next to bring him down to their level.
>real name is Siddig El Tahir El Fadil El Siddig Abdurrahman Mohammed Ahmed Abdel Karim El Mahdi
who writes this shit?
He is the Sahel muslim equivalent of aristocracy.
Wasn't his uncle or grandfather or something literally the Prime Minister of Sudan?
>be Sudanese
>don't get bbc genes
How?
His uncle is Malcolm Mcdowell
He is descended from Muhammad Ahmad - Fall of Khartoum, Mahdist War.
I told you guys he was gay and hitting on poor O'Brien.
>>gets retconned into a genetically engineered superautist because the writers fricked up in earlier episodes
Elaborate.
He's a phoney cloney made in a lab to be good at science
He'd not a clone. He's a moron that got CRSPR'd into being a super genius.
You're right but phoney cloney was fun to say wasn't it
>Bashir is insanely competent in early seasons
>people start to question it
>they make an episode where its revealed he was genetically manipulated to be smarter
Love her exaggerated hip sway as she walked
>competent
he literaly couldnt solve the fricking pandemic in the station by hinself and they had to bring a bajoran to the station to save people
what a frick
am i watching the same Ds9?
everybody say this is the best series and that it has the best capitan but sisko is a b***h
everyone is unlikeable
the only likeable character is fricking odo and just because he is a c**t detective and i like c**t detectives
...Who is she and why does her mouth look so oddly familiar?
It's The Bunny.
She looks like Tiffany Trump and maybe a bit like Portia Doubleday.
Mouth looks like 2010s titty monster Lucy Wilde
In an early episode, when Bashir was still an overbearing Bright Young Thing, he sheepishly admits that he lost out on being valedictorian because he screwed up one exam question: he mistook a preganglionic fiber for a postganglionic nerve. It was just meant as technobabble filler to serve the point that Bashir, despite being intelligent, had self-confidence issues, as that episode was him meeting up with the woman who was valedictorian instead of him.
However, the wife of one of the show's writers was a doctor. She watched the episode when it aired, and commented to her husband that not even an idiot would mistake a preganglionic fiber for a postganglionic nerve. They're completely different things. (Because, remember, the episode's writer was just treating real world medical terms as technobabble.)
This got brought up in the writer's room, and they felt any viewer with medical knowledge would think either 1) Bashir was lying, or 2) the show's writers were idiots.
This led to them - in a later episode - have Bashir admit to this evil hallucination in his head (long story) that he intentionally got the question wrong, because he didn't want to be valedictorian. He knew perfectly well what a preganglionic fiber was.
This, however, raised a lingering question that the second episode didn't answer. Why did Bashir NOT want to be valedictorian? Did he have something to hide? If so, what was it?
That question bounced around the writing room for a while, and eventually it got fed into the idea of him being genetically engineered. The writer's loved the idea that they had accidentally created (and solved) a long-running arc.
(Incidentally, Alexander Siddig HATED the revelation that Bashir was genetically engineered, because he hadn't been playing the character as someone harboring a dark, shameful secret. He disliked that they hadn't planned ahead when it came to giving Bashir this huge backstory element.)
He won irl though.
Too bad she wore a clown outfit most of the time on the show.
>>gets retconned into a genetically engineered superautist because the writers
What did they frick up that required this?
they had him solving absurd medical problems that had canonically been untreatable or totally unknown procedures.
But the engineers and doctors do this on every Star Trek series with complete regulatory. Why was it only a problem when Bashir did it?
His initial characterization was as a rookie doctor at his first posting.
but he was a lieutenant
It's like how all of the doctors in MASH are at least Captains.
DS9 is the only Star Trek show that has no handsome main character.
?
Garak is very obviously gay, get over it.
DS9 does not have a handsome main character but the other Star Trek shows have at least one handsome main character like Chekov in TOS, Harry and Tom in VOY, Wesley in TNG and Tucker in ENT.
>handsome main character
>Wesley
please have a nice day already, wil.
Handsome =/= twink you unrepentant homosexual
Dukat is relentlessy handsome.
>Harry and Wesley
>Handsome
Fricking what?
Also, Bakula was ENT's sexpot, that's why they took his shirt off every other episode.
...Who is TNG's?
Verification not required
but worlf is in ds9 too
Swolecard
Wesley is very very handsome.
>t. Wil
Only his sweet grandma would that T deficient homosexual handsome
Pretty is a better descriptor.
He plays a Syrian responsible for catching and executing an Israeli spy (Borat).
It's called The Spy.
I actually kind of liked the trajectory he was on when they made him genetically engineered, and he seemed to be drifting further away from people and becoming lonelier with time, compared to how he was a popular ladies man early seasons. But then they had to go and swerve at the last minute and give him a girl at the end anyway because everyone had to have a happy ending of course. Or at least no bad endings, as could have been the mature choice.
>bad endings are mature
angsty queer scum
>N-No NO NO! We cannot have a single sad ending! NOOOOO! EVERYONE MUST LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER!
I hate that we have to breathe the same air as Lower Decks homosexuals
it is pretty stinky air
>everyone had to have a happy ending of course
You sure about that?
He got to embrace that time-honored passtime of black men by abandoning his baby momma
What about them? Not really a happy ending either. Or O'Brien even, being forced to go with his horrinle harpy wife to Earth and no longer being able to see Bashir regularly.
They had a happy ending, they parted ways as friends and lovers to new horizons.
I'll give you that though, O'Brien had the cruelest most miserable bad ending of any Trek character, going on to live with Keiko
There will be no Keiko slander on my Television and Film board, you ninnyhammers
>sign on to be the wife of some minor character in TNG
>end up being a main character in the spin off for like 8 seasons
>this b***h got like 15 years of consistent work
Lucky b***h.
last time i saw her was in a big pharma commercial. she answered the door to a talking bottle of medicine or something.
>Becomes possessed by a being of pure evil.
>Is noticeably nicer to her husband to the point Bashir comments on it.
The happiest of ending is not having to deal with Bajoran scum anymore
The happiest of endings is not having to deal with Bajoran scum anymore
did they ever explain why odo couldn't just visit kira from time to time? or why he couldn't just live out a humanoid life with her then rejoin the link? really stupid ending for those two.
Tear jerkers aren't designed to be thought of beyond basic logic.
I forget if there was an anime or a game or something where the ending was everyone 'can never see each other again' because they're from different planets.
Second you're done feeling sad about it, you start realizing they have a fricking space ship and can entirely plan a day or a week every year to go hang out but that's not sappy.
But the bridge in Promised Neverland was destoyed.
Odo losing all interest in Kira the moment she bangs him is a very realistic portrayal of oneitus.
The mystique lies in the impossibility.
Star Trek is globo homosexual cringe
Why do you people always lie?
>originally written to be gay for Garak
No. The writers clearly say this was never the case. Now shut the frick up, Jessica Lynn.
Not canon. Mental diseases have been cured in 24th century.
The changeling Bashir was based, he was going to kamikaze himself into the sun and destroy the entire station and fleet. What a based chad
he fricks the superior dax in the end tho
Garak was very obviously supposed to be gay (or at least bi) but Bashir was just a campy straight guy. That being said by the 24th century I can imagine modern standards of orientation don't much apply once aliens start coming into the mix
>Garak was very obviously supposed to be gay (or at least bi) but Bashir was just a campy straight guy.
I think this was just Andy Robinson adding a little bit of that into the character just to make him a little more interesting/deceptive - also maybe he felt real gay attraction to Siddig irl and it became an aspect of his performance.
>I can imagine modern standards of orientation don't much apply
depends on what you mean by modern standards, but in the future they've definitely cured homosexuality and transgenderism which is why they don't appear in the human race in TNG onward. And as such all of the alien interactions are still based on our concept of heteronormativity, e.g. every alien riker fricks is what humans would view as a female with desirable human female qualities. the only queers in star trek were things like symbiote-carrying trill, who are basically just addled from several lifetimes of being in both male and female hosts.
Of course Garak is gay, he was fricked by his father when he was a kid. No wonder he has mental issues.
I've watched the entirety of BG and still don't know what to make of this character.
Its an homage to the original BSG baltar in that the writing is all over the place to the point of schizophrenia
OG Baltar was supposed to die in the pilot but they liked the actor so much he became a regular.
Just asume every decision he takes is with his dick, not his brain.
That's what's so weird about the character because he's supposed to be a supergenius scientist
I literally thought they were the same actor for 20 years
A lot of the main cast in DS9 is uninteresting - Sisko, Sisko son's, both Dax's, Kira, Bashir are all shit. Odo's interesting before he becomes a simp for Kira. O'Brien and Worf are interesting but, they are not even DS9 original characters. Garack, Dukat and Quark are amongst the best characters.
The titular station itself is boring. That's why they were forced to introduce the Defiant later on. Trek is 50% hero ship, 50% characters. That's what been missing since Voy and DS9 ended.
>Goes from the worst character and the writer's whipping boy in early episodes
>Still becomes the best character of the entire show
Dude started off as DS9's Harry Kim and still came through smelling like a rose. Alexander Siddig moved mountains on this one.
>originally written to be gay for Garak
I'm so glad they changed this. I loved DS9, but the Avery Brooks "muh racism" crap really hurt the show (yes, Star Trek is all YOUR black imagination including every show before yours! I can NOT believe the writers wanted to shove that shit into the finale!). Jadzia's Klingaboo attitude was obnoxious. Quark was great, Ferengi & Dominion episodes were great, Dukat & Weyoun were the MVP's. I would have missed out on the greatness because the homosexualry was already getting bad.
homosexualry makes things interesting. heteronormative tv is BORING
>Jadzia's Klingaboo attitude was obnoxious
This was her one redeeming and likeable trait thougheverbeit
>the Avery Brooks "muh racism" crap really hurt the show
I'm very racist and usually hate this kind of shit, but Brooks is a really fricking good actor, and I was moved by his performance of a raging schizo.
DS9 was fricking awful it's not even trek.
That nu-trek shit with the Black person b***h is more trek than ds9
wrong
no u
The character of Julian Subatoi Bashir, MD, portrayed by British-Sudanese actor Siddig El Tahir El Fadil El Siddig Abdurrahman Mohammed Ahmed Abdel Karim El Mahdi, was never intended to be a homosexual.
Fun trivia: He's the nephew of famed british actor Malcolm McDowell, and he also was also married to Nana Visitor (Kira Nerys) for the last 2 seasons of the show.
>famed british actor Malcolm McDowell
Also a star trek veteran, having played Dr. Soran in Star Trek: Generations.
Chatgpt
The episode where he chimps out because he's a magazine writer who cops a bit of heckin racism.
I never cringed so hard but reddit says it's the performance of a lifetime.
what is your assessment?
It's a goofy episode to be honest, but I think Brooks does deliver a great performance.
It's one of the few that I skipped. After a couple of minutes I knew what it was going to be about and moved on to the next one. If I had watched the show as it was broadcast, I probably would have sat through it but with the option to just move on, it was easy to just move on.
to be gay and british for the rest of the show
He's implied British-Indian. The actor's birth-name is some insanely long nonsense because he's an Arab-British mix.
>He's implied British-Indian
Weird how his name is Arab then.
DS9 is SUCH a waste. It has so many good characters, but the plot for ages is bogged around the shitty space station. If they had the same cast, and they were bopping around the tsars it'd be 10x better. Gul Dukat keeps showing up as usual because.
dude was banging the actress for Kira throughout the entire filming. they have 2 kids together lmao. Primo bajoran pussy and you say he got cucked
my shitty headcanon is that sometime after the eugenics war, some kind of vaccine for homosexual tendency was developed and is standard neonatal care for federation citizens.
The only time you ever see homosexualry (I haven't watched anything past ENT so this is likely defunct by post Picard shit) is in the mirrorverse, like incredibly dykish mirror Kira who rides mirror Jadzia's face and tries to selfrape real Kira the whole episode. Even in original series the goateed crew comes off zestier.
I just enjoy pretending there's an actual reason for the goatee universe having gays and normal Trek having no gays.
isn't the point of divergence between the 2 universes much later than the eugenics wars?
I think so, but wherever the point of divergence is irrelevant to the development of a gay-ccine if the gayccine is post-divergence but pre-plot.
Garak is gay for Bashir, but Bashir is straight. It's pretty obvious and simple, you morons.
What happens if you walk in on Janeway on the Holodeck and she’s giving a Klingon head or something?
>giving a Klingon head
They make it painfully obvious that her sexual fantasy is run-of-the mill Jane Austinwank and she has foppish Mr. Darcy types eating her out under a petticoat after grinding through weeks of will-they-won't-they tsundere bullshit.
This came up in multiple episodes and I'm annoyed that you don't remember.
Because Janeway's nuts she'd probably just murder whoever saw her having holodeck sex and then shoot 'em out an airlock.
I seem to be the only one on Cinemaphile who likes Jadzia better than Ezri.
There’s a lot of gays online
Pitch an alternative DS9 cast.
I know I'm 20 years late but I can't believe they butchered Dukat's character unironically because they saw people ATTENTION BAJORAN WORKERS posting on 90s forums.
Dumb conspiracy theory, Dukat is the same at the end as he is at the start of the show.
