Wrong. It's just a thing everybody did in the past. Like growing up, learning the trade/craft and getting married. No one was yearning for their grand purpose back then. Not everyone's special. Most of us are mediocre and will never amount to much on a greater scheme of things.

This shit has aged poorly because while their points are logical in 2023, they seem dumb as frick in 1999. None of the economic and social ills we deal with now were present in 1999. Gender relations were better, race relations were under control, the economy was doing great, less people were on welfare than ever. So on and so on. Nowadays we have to deal with even worse spiritual malaise alongside really unfortunate economic and political circumstances. Ed Norton should've realized how good he had it.

Has there ever been a time in history where the individual has mattered less? It feels like everyone is completely replaceable and that they are more dependent on the system than the other way around.

In the past, times were hard but you mattered to the survival of your family or your village, but now your life is completely irrelevant to the wellbeing of civilization. If you die your job will replace you and society won't even notice

All of society depends on fighting-age men going along with it and enforcing it. Rights for women? Mass immigration? All because fighting age men agree with those things. If they didn't, and they felt that society was going against these fighting age men themselves and trying to manipulate them into submission through propaganda and literal castration, they could easily tear down the whole system and rebuild it. This is the intrinsic message of Fight Club. This is what your boomergay moralcuck overlords don't want you to know

rebuild what? Tyler durden plays a central role, like in real life, of an ideological leader. Every revolution ever only happened following a leader with defined goals of what the new system will look like. They figure out what people are unhappy with and rally them behind a cause.
This will never happen again because the systems of (dis)information are so sophisticated that any up and coming leader can be torn down easily. And with a feature! no longer they will be martyrs for the cause, but humiliated villains deservingly slinking back into irrelevance. See Andrew Tate, Jordan Peterson

from the perspective of boomers and genx who experienced the 70s and 80s, the late 90s seemed like a corporate dystopia of consumerism and conformity. they had no idea shit would get far, far worse after 9/11. just the process of going to the airport became a huge pain in the ass. i remember during 2002-2007, the cops would go frickin NUTS if you parked for just 2 mins too long at the passenger drop-off curb.

anyway, i guess it's time to ask:

The 90’s were a dark time for pop culture
It was a reaction to the affluent optimism of the 80’s
Grunge, edgy indie music and later terrible nu metal for music the main stream popularity of harder metal
      all very dark
      Radiohead and emo
Films became grim dark and the most popular films from the decade delt with dark themes
silence of the lambs, pulp fiction, the matrix, American beauty, Trainspotting etc
      Books as well
Damian hurst was the worlds most famous artist etc

          Yes it was pretty good
all though the music kind of sucked comparatively to other decades especially nu metal
It seems the music industry was the worst offender with on the nose “darkness” That seemed so corny and contrived
The indie scene was much better than most industry stuff at the time
          Radiohead being the obvious exception

        Anonymous

        No.
If someone is smart or intelligent or whatever then no one really gives a frick unless they do something with those smarts or that intelligence. Look at my boy Christopher Langan. Chances are you haven't even heard of him. This homie finna have an IQ of 210 (which is real and not bullshit like that Chink). You know what he does? Breeds horses and posts coincidences he shouldn't be noticing on boomerbook. His parents? Complete fricking brainlets.
See, being known requires more than being intelligent. The biggest requirement is having contacts. People who can elevate you to a position you don't deserve based on the old boy's network.
How many of Newton's family members have you heard of? Einstein's? Von Braun's? Tesla's? The list goes on and it goes on for a good reason - intelligence isn't genetic as much as you want to convince yourself it is.

Someone with a connection can more easily bridge that gap for their own children regardless whether or not they're a Christopher Langan or whether they're a 100IQ average. Someone who "makes it" is determined to be smart because they've made it. When in reality it's more like 'not really'.

So why do stupid people have so many stupid kids while intelligent people have intelligent kids? Well stupid people generally don't have connections and do have more children. Intelligent people (ie made its) have less children and more connections. Given the illusion their children, or even their larger family, are more intelligent when really it just comes down to them being able to grease the right palms.
I guarantee Cinemaphile has people who are poor as frick and smart as shit. The reason they spend their time here is because there's no way to get a foot in the door. Obviously I'm not one of those, I'm here because I'm a loser with average intelligence. But I'm capable of using common sense and basic economics. You should try it and not believe everything you read on an infographic.
