True, but what is the point of movies then? That is like saying 'stop watching movies altogether', it has the same mentality. All movies are escapists fantasies. It is wrong to be too obsessed with a franchise, yes, but it also kind of hypocritical of an actor getting paid big bucks to tell a small kid to stop watching movies that he starred in. Two wrongs dont make a right.

Yeah, sure, sounds like a pathetic loser, but lately I've been often wondering if idiotic posts like this one aren't just some marketing psyop with the aim of brainwashing people (who are already pretty fricked up by social media) into believing this kind of obsession is normal.
      >Oh yes, dear consoomer, it really is completely natural and common to feel depressed when you have no popculture products to consoom, just like this authentic, real person. See? Live for the product.

      Except for losers like this

millennial men experienced the dot com crash, the genesis of modern school shootings, 9/11, terrorism, the global war on terror, "terror alert levels", the crash of '08, the recession, fourth (and fifth) wave feminism, the corporate internet, the unveiling of the hollywood pedophile rings, tribalism, covid-19, our current economic predicament and deteoriation of western family values and morality.

our masculine peers were forever changed by the war in iraq/afghanistan. many came home forever changed, many more never returned home at all. we're subjected to propaganda levels the world has never seen through pervasive omnipotent devices and screens.

so forgive us for indulging in a connection that we have to simpler times, before all of that, when we were children and were inspired by luke skywalker in the desert. but if you want your answer, these men have been destroyed physically and psychologically, and it's harrowing.

You're right to notice a pattern with those posts and yea corporations do scrap Cinemaphile for keywords and get involved - but it's mostly video games companies that do that.

The pattern of shitty OPs and threads you've noticed is solved by understanding the filename structure in the OP - that's how iphones store files internally, when they upload it in their shitty safari browser it retains the original internal filename... mobile posters use mobile networks which they reset in a second in case they get banned.. they feel no repercussions for their posts, they lose nothing and that's mostly why their posts are always of low quality and merely baits.

Often times it's an ordinary troll anon who had a bait idea but did it from the phone to avoid a ban or to simulate thread activity by replying to himself.
10 years ago when I joined Cinemaphile and I was much younger I used to do similar things all the time.
I could make a thread and let it organically grow... but 7 out of 10 times it would die, while if I false flagged replies in it 6 out 10 times it would get a life of its own until archival.

We've been "heading into" 90's nostalgia for the past ten years. Twin Peaks reboot came and went. Beavis and Butthead came and went, then came again. The Matrix reboot came and went. Red Dwarf keeps coming back. The Scream reboot came and went. Independance Day and Jurrassic Park sequels came and went. A lot of 90's comics like Deadpool, Venom, and Preacher got adaptations. I don't see how people figure it hasn't happened yet.
If anything, we're now going into 00's nostalgia, what with prequel era Star Wars being revived, RTD era Doctor Who being revived, Sam Raimi's Spiderman being revived, emo aesthetics apparently being kind of "in" again.

it would in a world where we had the power to change it. but we're powerless to it. we take what we can get.

you blame the consumer, but not the people creating the entertainment. the fact is, IPs make billions, but they all deteriorate in the same way, name one single big-name IP (outside of meme shit like top gun) that has multiple installments over various forms of media that hasn't deteriorated. star wars, lord of the rings, harry potter, indiana jones, james bond, doctor who, comic book IPs, etc. etc.

ever since john carter, these big companies are too scared to invest in original ideas. hence why they appeal to the childish banalities of a destroyed generation. and, very insidiously, these companies mine and use the feedback from forums to actually influence the plot and structure of the shows - game of thrones / stranger things are great examples of this. this gives the millennials the feedback loop they desire, but instead of changing the world they live in, they're just changing the characters in the media they consume.

Hardship only creates stronger people, if the hardship follows a specific narrative direction, with a clear "goal" of fighting back against it also set in stone. A clear example of that is a foreign invasion, which causes people to want to toughen up and fight back and free themselves. The problems of the last two decades are nothing like that. They're absurd attacks from all sorts of directions (faceless terror, unclear/constantly changing job world, economic crash, housing market nightmare, sjw shit, errosion of traditional values and social fabric). They come from everywhere. You can't build a path of resistance that you go along, you're just jumped from everywhere. And the media tell you half of those are good things too and you're evil for disliking them.

          Anonymous

WRONG. Millennials are generationally buttblasted that they'll never own a house. At their best, they spend the money they make from their job working for an advertising firm pursuing their $300/wk foodie habit, including but not limited to
          >muh avocado toast
They do not, however, have the capacity to suffer.

Xoomers sleep on floors and grew up shoplifting for kicks and smoking street-found cigarette butts even though they had perfectly-good cigarettes in their jean jacket. They owned a home but found it too constraining in principle. They create art out of trash and see the world as a blighted playground. Xoomers developed the capacity to enjoy suffering because they found boomerville terminally fricking BORING and have turned this capacity into a high art.

this. I live in NYC and 9/11 was bad but I wasn't horribly affected by it, life changed but it wasn't the end of the world.
My main complaint right now is PC culture has fricked basic human interaction to hell. You can be normal but if you accidentally mispronoun someone, miss gender, or dead name even on accident or without prior knowledge you will be ostracized as a bigot. For the most part I avoid modern tv/movies because its mostly homosexual propaganda or complete corporate drivel. But everyone is subscribed to it now and can't let go.

      https://i.imgur.com/AaNzU4c.jpg

Are we doomed to a hellscape of soft reboots of 80’s movies every other month for the rest of eternity because people like this exist?

Even I sympathize w/ this guy, hes suffering and doesn't know it. Him crying about kenobi like a consoomer is just him wanting to go back. He was probably so hyped for the sequels and had to blindly defend it. Anything prequel related brings him back to a normal time, when star wars was good.

90% of humanity at this point are just children. i love how when they started milking the frick out of this franchise the rule was "dont touch the originals, keep your filthy hands away from the only thing keeping this shitty franchise alive" and now its a game to see how close they can get without ruining everything. Obiwan i think crossed the line due to how unbelivable it is that in 9 years the force becomes "ancient religion" and in the span of 20 years people forget jedis were still running around being hunted. are they seriously going to try and take this through a season 2 and drop it like 1-2 years before a new hope?

Totally this. I've always loved star wars but haven't had the time to really engage for 10 years while raising my young kids and working full time. Kenobi was (imho) just fantastic and has reignited my passion for this universe. I ordered 4 books (catalyst, Tarkin, the Rebels book and Lord's of the Sith. I would def reccomend Catalyst it's a prequel to Rogue One and happens around the time Andor will (I believe). The universe is so big and intricate, all of this content I didn't have time for feels like a giant gift.... also started the audio books for the Darth Bane series, it's unbelievably great, would strongly reccomend.

For me, it was all about laziness. My wife was constantly wanting to frick, but I simply couldn't be bothered. For example, at the time, I was raiding Serpentshrine Cavern, and we were making a real effort to server first, and to take time away from my own interests just because she needed an orgasm wasn't anything I was interested in. (She was quite selfish, and not just about orgasms. She would always eat more than half of a pizza. I never said a word.) I know for some people it's a fetish, but for me, it was just about shutting her up. She'd be getting drilled in the next room, and I'd be in my office, on vent, doing my thing with the guild, and every once in a while I'd need to go in (like in OP's pic) in order to say something provocative, like
      >yeah, pound her fricking pussy you Black person
      or
      >you're such a fricking cumbawd for Black person cum, aren't you, you fricking prostitute
and then I'd go back into my office and get to the serious business of downing Vashj, which was fricking tricky before the nerf.

Old people have a sense of humor. You zoomer fricks think everything should be serious business because you're joyless, loveless freaks.

This is true. Zoomers are thin skinned, and cannot banter.

I actually know what he means, as gay as it is. Those moments when Obi-Wan and Vader were on screen together, I actually did get a twinge of that "real Star Wars" feeling that has been completely absent in the Disney era.

Why? I remember being a young boy in the early 80s, riding my bike to the local convenience store, drawing star wars characters, and reading the comics on the spinner racks. Now I just research and write star wars theories and constantly worry.
