A Touch of Cloth is the closest thing I've ever seen to police squad
I watched the first episode and I found it too predictable and slow moving. It didn't really grab me enough for me to continue watching.
M-Squad is exactly like police squad except with no comedy.

Leslie has a lot of movies. val kilmer has a funny movie like these, and charlie sheen's hot shots is similar.
These guys have the best recommendations. Just look for other movies by Leslie (airplane and beyond). Basketball is one to add to their suggestions.
