I definitely like how they managed to keep the two suits distinct rather than taking easy route and making them have the exact same suit. Both look cool, imo
This shot makes me wish Gira had some red details in his suit, like Racules has silver ones, because he blends with Himeno too much
I thought it would be a shared power-up like Super Shinken(colour) thanks to the gem colours, but Racles's tirade about how only the King of Shugoddom can use it put an end to that. Maybe the next episode's ALL BORDERS ARE NOW OPEN WE'RE ALL KING-OHGER will mean that the others would be able to share in the crown's powers too.
Lets be real here, whatever Gira's platform is gonna be, theres no way in hell it can be worse than Racles 'destroy all other kingdoms if they dont submit to me' plan.
Yeah I like this a lot more but all gold is still great. Maybe the other kings will get the powerup and keep their colours? Or some silly powerup switching with Don Momotaro or the next red in a future vs movie will have this colorscheme.
So rather than the theory that was thrown around a lot of Racles doing his own Gira-esque demon king act, it's turned out that instead he used to have ideals about being a good king but had them ground down by reality until he ended up the way he is now.
I think I prefer that to the other theories people had about Racles. It's a good setup to have, Racles' cynicism from experience contrasting with Gira still having his idealism.
The other theories focusing Racles having his own chuuni evil tyrant method acting are mostly rooted in Racles being good all along. Think Lelouch/Zero (play baddie to rally everyone towards a common enemy) without the benefit of seeing it from his perspective. Although, it needs to show (not just tell) Racles what broke his optimism. It would probably trace back to the Fury of the Gods incident.
i dont think they would dare to subvert all the storytelling tropes for fantasy stories.
'the dead king parent was the saint of all saints' being the big one here. it just doesnt make sense to make Gira and Racles' dad evil, specially since we dont even know him.
We never saw him yet we know his name, which implies he'd be relevant
Also, since we know that Gokkan's previous ruler is secretly still alive the same can turn out to be true for Corsus Hastie
And if he's alive he won't fit "dead king parent was a saint". In fact, it would be interesting to see him return after being presumed dead, he appears all awesome and shit at first to gain influence over Gira but then it turns out that he's much worse than Racules ever pretended to be! Ah, imagine the drama!
>specially since we dont even know him
You say this in a show that likes to pull plot points out of nowhere whenever it's time to shift the story like Jeramie's whole deal, the former king and queen of Gokkan and the power-up crown.
We never saw him yet we know his name, which implies he'd be relevant

don't forget ohmori loves the butthole dad trope in Drive/Exaid/Build.
ngl, kinda disappointed that he turns out that way instead of the 4D mind chess pretending-to-be-evil. I just hope that they wouldn't make him limp dick pathetic after all of that shit.
>Not until we know Racles' tax policy.
Considering that in the first episode Shugodam's people seem to live in misery and the soldiers constantly harass people for money it's probably not a good one.
I can actually see an episode dealing with that: >after Gira becomes king he sees a soldier harassing the citizens for money again >but this time he can just use his evil king authority to stop him >the soldier begs for mercy and explains that they haven't been paid in months and are also barely scraping by >Gira goes to see his fat advisor guy to discover why the soldiers aren't being paid >fat advisor explains that building something like King Ohger ZERO takes a lot of money >and Racles basically emptied the royal Shugodam treasury doing it >Gira is king of a broke kingdom
Cue Gira passing out from shock. >now Gira needs to raise money for the kingdom >as a good evil king Gira obviously won't raise people's taxes >so that only leaves one option >borrowing money from one of the other countries >the other kings either won't or can't lend money to Gira >except of course bountiful and generous Toufu >but even Gira knows better than to owe money to Kaguragi
I can totally see an episode where Gira extremely lowers the taxes, because "it's for the people's good" but then reality hits his face when he has no money to rebuild the city after Bugnarok attacks or pay his guards and servants
Gira learns that governing isn't so easy after all and needs to go to visit Racules in jail to get advice on that stuff
IMO yes. Characters all have something going on under the surface, good action, amazing music. Give it a watch.
What's the sub scene for Sentai like currently? I know it's probably eyeroll-provoking, but Over-Time lost me a long time ago with the whole "Ornac"/Gridon shit. Do they still sub in that style?
>but Over-Time lost me a long time ago with the whole "Ornac"/Gridon shit.
that was Aesir. O-T never worked on Gaim outside of the odd crossover speciall
He's definitely snagging the crown back at some point. Not only is it weirdly early in the series for a final/upgrade form, they wouldn't go through the trouble of making such an elaborate suit for one fight.
He's definitely snagging the crown back at some point. Not only is it weirdly early in the series for a final/upgrade form, they wouldn't go through the trouble of making such an elaborate suit for one fight.
Personally I hope the purpose for the King Oh Kuwagata Ohger suit is that it's evidence other Kings can use the crown.
The armor on Racles here looks like it could, with some adjustments made to the crown, be put on any of the other Ohger suits to let them use the power-up.
There has to be a reason all six of the main kings' colors are on it, maybe it turns around for each King so their gem faces forwards
It's really gratifying to see Jeramie actually suffer the consequences of his actions. There's lots of these 'trickster' characters who are just buttholes and are either vindicated/rewarded or never held to task for the shit they pull. Jeramie not only gets his due amount of crap from his fellow kings, the plot makes sure Jeramie knows what he did was his fault and he has no one to blame but himself for the fricked up shit he's in, and he actually seems to be improving from it.
I genuinely like Jeramie's quirks with being unable to say things straight due to his flare for the narrative and his chaotic nature but if he just got away with everything he did constantly he'd quickly become aggravating, and I'm glad to see the show give us this story-loving trickster but balance out so he isn't free of consequence
I definitely turned way around after being a bit sour on him in the beginning. He pulls his shameless underhandedness off with such theatrical flair that seeing his cons pull off is immensely satisfying.
Now I want to know if him giving Gira the crown is some big 6D chess play from him as well, or if he genuinely thinks Gira is a nice dude and would be a better king.
I think it's because only Hastie bloodline can use it, so since he can't use it himself, Gira is a better option for him
But then again, given the dialogue between Boshimar and Racules, it would seem that others would be able to use it too, since otherwise why be so concerned about it
Also, since the crown stays separated after transforming, maybe others could get a power-up as well?
Also, I hope that Racules having this crown stolen so easily will be revealed to be some 6D chess shit
Kaguragi is not even close to that evil, man. He is not doing this shit just for kicks, he's a man that loves his country and his people first of all and is willing to do whatever underhanded shit is necessary to protect them. So more like General Gun Ha.RIP
Gira being a jobber at least kind of makes sense
Unlike the other kings he has no prior experience or training in the way of the sword. Other kings have been raised in their role as guardian since they were children, or personally saw to their country's revolution and took power for themselves the hard way.
Gira's spent most of his life looking after children. Not just looking after them, Gira actively made jobbing part of his day to day as a pretend-villain that always lost to these little squirts, it's in his muscle memory. He gets by entirely on the suit/saber's power (as well as his innate control over Shugods which is his ace in the hole that makes him so damn important) but when he goes up against any other Ohger the odds are stacked against him.
He needs training and I hope that will be an episode after he takes the throne is some of his attendants deciding to put him through the ringer so he can be prepared in a real fight
Gira lost this particular fight because not only is Racules one of the better fighters in the show, he was also using the fricking mid-season power-up.
Thats the point though. They constantly show that hes not really a fighter, and is a kind hearted and honest person who wants whats best for everyone. Its why even Debowski is impressed by him and constantly has his back despite always being a sneaky double crosser playing 8D chess.
The Extreme King-Ohger suit actor deserves all the praise in the world for that rapid turn to the victory pose at the end with all that crap strapped onto him.
What if Kaburagi's 4D chess to steal the crown was part of Racles' 5D conspiracy?
Like giving Gira the crown and endangering Shuggodam to force the activation of the Caucasus Castle mech. Then Racles would hit some killswitch on the crown that would fry Gira's brain, allowing him to easily take back one year's worth of Sentai Robo toys.
Ok, what if he knew there are Bugnarok infiltrators in Shugoddom, so he managed to "lose" the crown to Gira, which resulted in Bugnarok revealing themselves and now, instead of having to deal with them alone, Racules will have whole Ohsama Sentai squad desinsect the whole kingdom for him
I get it now. The Dybowskis are what would happen if you put the usual Takahashi rat bastard characters (slightly) on the good guys side.
They're fricking great
Like or dislike these suits?
I definitely like how they managed to keep the two suits distinct rather than taking easy route and making them have the exact same suit. Both look cool, imo

They're both very cool!
>Racles invites in bug immigrants
>they procceed to riot and trash his country
>King-Ohgers band together to go on a bug Reconquista
This shit is like a /misc/ fantasy
Gira is gonna Make Shugoddam Great Again!
Lets be real here, whatever Gira's platform is gonna be, theres no way in hell it can be worse than Racles 'destroy all other kingdoms if they dont submit to me' plan.
>no, Gira, "Total Bug Death" is a crime in the eyes of international law
It's not a human rights violation if they aren't human.
>DESPITE
Those suits look so good in an actual environment and not on a fricking soundstage.
Can they get that mansion for free or do they just really, really like filming there?
Almost convinced Toei owns that property at this point
I love the suits but Gira turning completely gold is weird because it means a red is left out of group shots. I wish he had red spandex or something.
Yeah I like this a lot more but all gold is still great. Maybe the other kings will get the powerup and keep their colours? Or some silly powerup switching with Don Momotaro or the next red in a future vs movie will have this colorscheme.
Now I'm imagining the Kingohger mecha turning all gold like Onitaijin or a Goldon+King kitbash combo.
Omikosh Phoenix and God Hopper can ve swapped between the two mecha
This was supposed to be an episode about the brothers but the great Debowski stole the show.
Great episode, one of my favorites of the show
This shot gives me such meme vibes but I can't really put my finger on it XD
Like, me and the boys, but we dragged some 5th dude with us and he isn't very happy about it XD
>Get rused by the max CHA build
>Get your ass beat
>Now you're forced to play knight to a bug sitting in your throne
I want them to hook up for real.
You heard the lady.
The Duplicitous Dybowski Duo
>trust the ~~*Dybowsky*~~ siblings

>It would probably trace back to the Fury of the Gods incident.
I get the feeling it was Gira and Racles parents that caused the Fury of the Gods incident and that's what broke him.
He said legends say the Founder's Crown can control all Shuggods. Only his Royal Blood can use it.
i dont think they would dare to subvert all the storytelling tropes for fantasy stories.

Dybowski once again stealing the show. What a legend
So we're done with the political drama, right? Shit bores me to tears.
Not until we know Racles' tax policy.
Get back to writing, George
Maybe for you
>Not until we know Racles' tax policy.

Where's the part he gets kidnapped by the tax office?
The political drama is the second best part of the show (Morphonia is the first)
>(Racules sama is the first)
Ftfy
>Just finished work for the day
>Rita announces you're going on another business trip
>Extreme King-Ohger doing ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA
I need a gif of that please
Did you see the fake Toufu background coming?
I chuckled at that. Especially due to him using deception right when Gira was being so heartfelt and open.
I haven't watched a Sentai since Gokaiger.
This one worthwhile? Seems to be a neat premise, but looks very CG heavy
IMO yes. Characters all have something going on under the surface, good action, amazing music. Give it a watch.
First five episodes are really, really good. It mellows out a bit after that, but still fine.
What's the sub scene for Sentai like currently? I know it's probably eyeroll-provoking, but Over-Time lost me a long time ago with the whole "Ornac"/Gridon shit. Do they still sub in that style?
For currently airing shows, its still either Over-Time or TVN (going by "anon" to avoid John Toei), with no sustained in-between
Oh, Anon is TVN, didn't know that. Izusubs seems to be a happy medium for Geats, anything like that with Kingohger?
Chou Eiyuu Subs
Ornac wasn't O-T though
>but Over-Time lost me a long time ago with the whole "Ornac"/Gridon shit.
that was Aesir. O-T never worked on Gaim outside of the odd crossover speciall
This is the worst sentai they’ve probably ever done. Do not touch it with a ten foot pole.
Even if it's not very sentai-like, it's still good as its own thing
He's definitely snagging the crown back at some point. Not only is it weirdly early in the series for a final/upgrade form, they wouldn't go through the trouble of making such an elaborate suit for one fight.

There has to be a reason all six of the main kings' colors are on it, maybe it turns around for each King so their gem faces forwards
They'll save it for the final episode or a movie, where all the kings get their own crown to form Ultra Gigga homie King Ohger 9000X
It's really gratifying to see Jeramie actually suffer the consequences of his actions. which sub group is this?
Judging by that terrible subtitle font. It's probably the remnant of TV-Nihon
weird. posting a screencap here hours before the release on cat web...
Chou Eiyuu Subs
Just watch this be foreshadowing and it turns out that Gira is some kind of non-human and that's why he can talk to the Shugods.
Wouldn't be surprised if all the Hasties are and that red mark on their temples is the proof of that, like Jerami's marks on his face
>Someone subbed it correctly
Where can I watch these subs?
This entire bit was so incredibly good, I love Kaguragi.

Kaguragi is not even close to that evil, man. He is not doing this shit just for kicks, he's a man that loves his country and his people first of all and is willing to do whatever underhanded shit is necessary to protect them.
So more like General Gun Ha.RIP

I assume he brought it with him this time in case he needed to fight Daigorg.

can Gira win one fricking fight, please?
Gira being a jobber at least kind of makes sense

I am really loving this show, but it feels like the climax is already here and we aren't even at episode 20 I wonder what the next arc will be about.
The Legend King-Ohger debut felt like a finale as well
The Extreme King-Ohger suit actor deserves all the praise in the world for that rapid turn to the victory pose at the end with all that crap strapped onto him.
You heard her, get to it.
best girl by a wide margin. The dybowski bloodline is high quality.
What if Kaburagi's 4D chess to steal the crown was part of Racles' 5D conspiracy?

Give it your all, suit-actor-kun. Grit your teeth. Do it for the kids.
Now that Im an old these scenes give ne sympathy back pain
Is that the biggest suit Yohei-kun has worn yet? They've been deliberately keeping the suits smaller since he took over in Ryusoulger.
I get it now. The Dybowskis are what would happen if you put the usual Takahashi rat bastard characters (slightly) on the good guys side.
They're fricking great
What's the theme that plays during the Extreme King Ohger fight.

How did they get a kid who looks so much like a young Racles?
That's what I've been wondering since he first appeared. Either the two actors are related or Toei just got lucky with their talent pool.
Am I the only one who thinks Racles will go Lord Baron and get a monster form?
Amazing episode
