There have been legitimate scholarly academic papers published on the topic of just how bad Pizzasauce ripped off Ligotti for the plot of season one lmao
You ever wonder the reason why season one was so much better than seasons 2 and 3? Because Nic actually wrote seasons 2 and 3 and that's what it looks like when he tries to come up with his own original ideas. Season one was just him stealing from a much better writer
who gives a frick, it worked and it was great, and that's that. I don't really give a frick about the writer and his legacy, learn to separate art from artist
Except the whole point is that that's why the show went on to suck after that. Because he was never actually good at writing in the first place, he just got success by ripping off a much better but lesser known writer early on, and then when he had to try and come up with his own ideas they were shit. Coincidentally this current season is doing big numbers and getting good reviews from both critics and the public- and the pizza man is keeps crying online because he had nothing to do with it lmao

Ligotti is literally Lovecraft levels of well known. Still haven't seen any evidence that Pizza ever copied ligotti's homework. That alan moore comic panel was the bets evidence ive seen.

Thank you. People are always talking about how it stole from liggatti or lovecraft or all kinds of places and it feels like I'm the only one that noticed the actual obvious copied work.

True Detective is nothing like a Ligotti's story. It's just the fact that Rust was a pessimist/anti-natalist just like Ligotti, philosophy that he didn't created all by himself. Ligotti didn't ever write a detective story at all.

What exactly did he rip off from Ligotti? Certainly he was an influence, but that's not the same thing.

He just blew his load on the first season. Most writers have one good story in them at best.
I'm a big fan of Ligotti's fiction (not much his non-fiction), and I'd say that True Detective incorporates Ligotti's philosophy in a tasteless and original manner. Also, it's not like Ligotti has the monopoly of anti-natalism/pessimism. Pizzeria even admitted to using some of the ideas of David Benatar. This scholar is just seething and high on his own farts.
For all the ligotti fans itt. he co-wrote a pretty kino episode of the x-files that never got produced. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AXGfFEjRq4uRtpmi35Fe6jlhwzKXALv2/view
>Ligotti
You can't say that name around here, Anon. It's not a very good idea.
Fantastic bait good sir have an upvote, on me
>intellectually dishonest walmart
That's just Ligotti though.

Imagine being a "scholar" of pop culture lmao
Hmm seems scholarly
>ripped off Ligotti
Never heard of him, so who cares

Actually it was because he took forever to write season 1 and had a lot less time to work on the other two.
He just blew his load on the first season. Most writers have one good story in them at best.
I just read that whole wiener-sucking motherfricking essay and there is not one line in it that lottapizza plagiarizes from ligotti. not one.
I think the only person that gave shit was that blogger.
Academic papers haven't been worth anything for over a decade.

S1 is a bit overrated.
S2 is underrated.
I thought it was ok, but got pretty bored and stopped watching after 3 or 4 episodes. Haven't watched any of the other seasons.

Ligotti isn't particularly intellectual in the first place, anon.
