>terrible reboot
Agreed. R8 my idea for a soft reboot.. Have Peter Weller as old man robocop being forced to retire. City has a Parade and everything but he does not want to stop being a cop. They put him in a harmless new robotsuit and ship him off to an old folks home. Meanwhile have a new crop of replacements robocops. These are to be more controllable than the previous models with less free thought. Lead scientists guy thinks it's a terrible idea and secretly pulls the control chip on one of the units. Things are great for a time with crime even lower than before. Bad guy somehow gets control of robocop squadron and some Ed 209s then start to terrorize the city for whatever reason maybe they hole up in OCP building. Lone new unchipped model robocop and local police can't take them on alone. Bring Murphy out of retirement. New and old robocop seige the building. Maybe have Murphy self sacrifice passing the torch.
it's le reference to first robocop where mcbadguy said dump the hand
They saved what they could. He even has one toe left.
I'm sure its a cutesy oblique reference to the "lose the arm" scene in the first one, but the remake references how people literally don't want robots to have the authority to pull the trigger on people, and how including the human hand makes him look way MORE human than he actually is. In-universe it gives a "he's a guy in a suit" illusion when in fact he's just a couple organs in a metal shell
Wrong, I was offended by how shitty the remake was.
And I consider myself a fan of this, although it was distinct enough that they should have just given it an entirely different title. Maybe something like "Kate Beckinsale Pusy Attack," that would have sold a few tickets.
They had the actor for it, they just made him really lame and forgettable. They shoulda told him to Rorschach up the place. Imagine some growling schizo rant about "The world does not belong to soulless metal" or whatever.
The only thing I remember about the movie is Samuel L. Jackson played a Fox News host who never interacted with any other character at any point - and while he was clearly intended to be a strawman butthole, he was still so dynamic and charismatic and his manic hyperbole made so much sense that he accidentally came off as being right about everything.
The only thing I remember about this movie is a hilarious line where they say his armor is rated to stop .50 caliber, but he's ok because the robots are only equipped with .49 caliber guns. I'm not even a gun sperg but even I realized how moronic that was.
for real tho

It was a fine action robot movie but yes its a terrible reboot.
Never saw the reboot, but this scene, at least, is pretty freaky shit.
kino-man
I don't understand the hand.
Wouldn't that also need a blood supply and wouldn't it be impractical to have a flesh hand when he's a combat machine?

I thought it was a call back to the original when they first thing they do is blow Murphy's hand off
Remember Bob Morton chops off his other hand during his surgery when the doctors mention they saved it
He needed the flesh hand to access the alien pyramid.
The most memorable experience for a man is the soft touch of a woman’s breast and now he can still have that.
Is that red tube going to the hand bit blood?
The actor wanted to be able to scratch himself
Me on the left
What's the point of keeping that hand
Slowpoke
It's to jerk off with. They kept it so he could use it to jerk his... oh. Nevermind.
So he can jerk off with it
jerk what?
OmniCorp liked what they saw and said "how about a hand"
Legislation banned any killing machines where the trigger is not pulled by a human. This is a workaround for that.
Litrerally because Omnicorp wanted a human finger pulling the trigger
This really wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. I still like the first one more but that doesn't mean the remake was bad.
Wrong, I was offended by how shitty the remake was.

Wrong, I am offended by your shitty taste.
RoboCop remake was way better than this shit
Lack of good antagonists really hurt the remake.
They had the actor for it, they just made him really lame and forgettable. They shoulda told him to Rorschach up the place. Imagine some growling schizo rant about "The world does not belong to soulless metal" or whatever.
Does anyone else get trans-man vibes from that little shit?
Kinda looks a bit like a mini Buck Angel
>bad protagonist
>bad villains
>bad story
>bad action
>bad visuals
>bad satire
It's shit across the board.
Come on man, we saved your hand and everything? Don’t be like this.
At that point why keep the hand?
this movie did the body horror thing well and even the silver suit looked great but went full moron when he changes into the black rubber suit.
The only thing I remember about the movie is Samuel L. >Stop whining! America is now, and always will be the greatest country on the face of the earth.
why even bother saving the hand
To slap the shit out of you, so you'll stop asking the same stupid question
Why not use a robotic hand? It would be more effective.
What about ....WINO BOT?
