I never ended up watching this, is this another one of those shows that's actually just full of edgy garbage(gore, overtly dark tone, sexual violence/deviancy, nudity, cursing every five seconds) or is there something fun to be had here?

It tries to be cerebral but it's a bit too anime and not enough hard sci-fi for my liking. Luckily it's saved by the fact that many characters are very likeable because it gets a bit unintentionally goofy at time.
