All the Kon movies are pretty good.
I love starring at walls . Some of my best hallucinations have come from wall starring. Everyone is starring at screens these days and really have no idea of the wonder that can be found staring intensely at a wall for hours.
It has an actual plot so you should probably watch it sober first

Paprika is pretty mediocre. Perfect Blue is undeniably Kon's best film.
Perfect Blue is a better story but no anime ever came close to Paprika's amazing dream visuals and music.

Seen it twice in the last month I liked it so much. The dream visuals are awesome, and it’s got a Hirasawa soundtrack which is always a plus. It’s also fairly short, so I would say yes, watch it. Probably sober because it gets a little twisty

as far as the plot & characters go, I don't understand why everyone say they're bad, it's a film about a consciousness invading terrorist who laments the scientific breakthroughs that have led to the unraveling of the human subconscious, the rest of the characters are also well written, I feel like the complaints are from people who didn't watch it because as far as anime goes this is certainly a good story.
either way I'm not a plotgay so it doesn't really matter to me, the visuals & soundtrack alone make it worth watching even if there was 0 narrative to it.
