As a former US Attorney, I strongly disagree. Was his behavior unethical? It certainly looks that way on the surface. But did he actually break any laws? While he came dangerously close to the line, his acts ultimately did not cross the threshhold of criminal behavior.

Ok let's assume you can't charge him with being an accomplice for kidnapping, you could still charge him with false imprisonment. Sure it's not murder, but still a crime

Former Arch Angel of Judgement here, and you are wrong. Whilst his actions are questionable, he always gave his students a way of escape. And if they did not take the opportunity to escape, then they didn’t value life in the first place and was thus already doomed. Jigsaw cannot be held responsible for the deaths of those who don’t want to live and he would therefor be welcomed into heaven with open arms

        (Verse 1)
Yo, I'm Jigsaw, mastermind of the twisted scheme,
Unraveling minds, life ain't what it seems,
My motives deep, like the ocean's abyss,
Got a mission to teach, yeah, life ain't all bliss.

        (Chorus)
I wear my cap backwards, my vision askew,
Traps and puzzles, yeah, that's what I do,
Got a message to share, gotta make 'em see,
Life's precious, wake up from your apathy.

        (Verse 2)
Saw traps designed, intricate and cruel,
Testing your will, break the cycle's rule,
        Modus operandi, a moral test,
Got you questioning choices, put to the test.

        (Chorus)
I wear my cap backwards, my vision askew,
Traps and puzzles, yeah, that's what I do,
Got a message to share, gotta make 'em see,
Life’s precious, wake up from your apathy.

        (Verse 3)
From the Reverse Bear Trap to the Shotgun Collar,
Each challenge unfolds, making bodies holler,
        Decisions you make, consequences severe,
Can you value life when death's drawing near?

        (Chorus)
I wear my cap backwards, my vision askew,
Traps and puzzles, yeah, that's what I do,
Got a message to share, gotta make 'em see,
Life's precious, wake up from your apathy.

        (Bridge)
It's a game of survival, a dance on the edge,
Facing your demons, no place to hedge,
My twisted art form, a canvas of pain,
But through this torment, you'll grow and gain.

        (Chorus)
I wear my cap backwards, my vision askew,
Traps and puzzles, yeah, that's what I do,
Got a message to share, gotta make 'em see,
Life's precious, wake up from your apathy.

        (Outro)
So heed the warning, embrace life's grace,
I'm Jigsaw, revealing truth in this space,
With my cap on backwards, I'll challenge your soul,
To appreciate life and finally be whole.

Never mind the fact that after the 1st movie the puzzles start becoming impossible for some people and have nothing to do with rehabilitating them or whatever

The reverse bear trap in the first movie is enough to prove the "I don't kill" thing is bullshit.

Amanda's "puzzle" is to cut open a guy's stomach to get the key inside it.

        There are only four options:
        1) Amanda is secretly an expert surgeon and can quickly and safely perform the operation under an immense amount of pressure.
        2) Amanda doesn't do it, and dies
        3) Amanda DOES do it, resulting in the guy dying
        4) Amanda starts to do it, and both she and the guy die

Jigsaw knows Amanda is not an expert surgeon, so the only actual outcome is going to be someone ending up dead. There is no way the "game" doesn't result in a death.

Even worse is that the paralyzed guy has no fricking "game", he doesn't even get a tape to know how he fricked up badly enough to get killed by Jigsaw.

Not really. Hoffman is a total psycho who

        >initially only killed one dude to avenge his sister
        >is blackmailed by jigsaw into helping him make traps
        >actively chooses to just keep making these tests for fun after jigsaw and Amanda are dead, even though it puts him in danger

He literally put his friends and colleagues he thought were morally good through those tests like Rigg, and tormented and killed Matthews. It’s weird

      and here he is

Got to love American morons with no knowledge of their own legal system, pretending to be lawyers.

Common law jurisdictions all have similar types of laws which prevent this action, in the US, it's the called the Felony murder rule. Simply put, if an actor(legal term of art to describe someone who does something, not an actor as a profession) is committing a felonious act and someone dies in relation to that act but not as a direct cause of the action, that person is seen by the court as guilty of murder.

The standard example is someone going in and robbing a bank, and one of the patrons then has a heart attack and dies. The bank robber would also be found guilty of their murder.

Since Kidnapping is a felony, Jigsaw is deemed responsible for anything that may happen to them, including their death.

i actually asked my friend once who is a criminal attorney if Jigsaw could prosecuted. he said it would be a tough case and you could definitely get him on kidnapping, but murder is out of the question because the victims could have not died if they made the choices available to them. it's really mindfricky stuff. the problem is, you can only convict someone of a crime once, so once he did his time for kidnapping the first time, he could go back to doing the same thing and the cops would never be able to get him again.

that's not true, murder has to be deliberate. otherwise it's manslaughter, but they still can't get him on manslaughter because they chose to not do the things they could have done to survive, so it was legally suicide.
