      >it's worse than Young Pope but still decent

Yeah I avoided it for years because I thought it would be trash. Turns out it's pretty decent. Not as good as young pope, but still has merit.

      >Not as good as young pope, but still has merit.
I turned the first episode off and never gave it a chance because it felt like they were going to ruin it, and the Young Pope was so good. Should I give it another shot?

        >because it felt like they were going to ruin it
100% spot on, its like they went out of their way to attack and destroy all the characters from season 1 out of spite because people loved lenny and he was one of those "you weren't supposed to idolize him reee" characters
        >Should I give it another shot?
it has the same style and production quality as the first and has some(literally 1 or 2)kino scenes but it will leave a bad taste in your mouth
        for example
Esther is now divorced & a prostitute and later becomes a terrorist in a not so subtle "SEE CHIRSTIANS CAN BE TERROSTS TOO, NOT JUST MUSLIMS"

            >not Voiello because he's clearly the show runners favourite(which is fair)

If they would allow priests to get married and have kids it would solve 95% of the problems with the Church today. Either that or establish prison monasteries to house the diddlers.

The prison monasteries sound interesting, but removing celibacy wouldn't work.

        Why?

Because it's a core tenant to being a priest, dedicating yourself to the Lord.
If you can't keep your dick in line, either leave the priesthood or don't even attempt to become one.
Otherwise there are other positions for married men to serve the Church.

There are already married priests serving in the church. Anglican converts. A few thousand IIRC.

Priests don't assault at a higher rate than non-celibate clergy or schoolteachers.

              No there was not.
And yes, it is about letting your dick out.
A priest doesn't and must not need that kind of thing.

Because Catholic priests don't rape at a higher rate than other clergy who are not celibate or schoolteachers.

Ending celibacy wouldn't help at all.

And younger clergy tend to be more faithful than the ones from the 1960s up to the 1980s who were kind of unorthodox and who were the ones who did the crimes.

            >Because Catholic priests don't rape at a higher rate than other clergy who are not celibate or schoolteachers.

Catholic priests are uniquely protected by their parent institution, though. I do think that the current pedo crisis is a uniquely modern product but the Church does need to address it fairly, and right now they're more concerned with their signalling on gay rights and immigration and shit. Generosity towards your neighbor is good and all but without trust in the internal justice of the Church it falls apart.

You think protestant churches and schools didn't try to hide crimes?
Ot that it was official Church policy to do so?

And the Church did address it and the rate of abuses declined due to the policies instated. And the policies that reduced it were even created by Benedict XVI before he became Pope. The one guy who is often accused by the media of not doing anything.

schools also shuffle teachers around when they're accused of child rape

        Why?

It would absolutely be a compromise, don't get me wrong. But if I was around during Vatican II there would be a lot more married priests and a lot more Latin in mass.

What do I know, though, I'm just a Cinemaphile educated pleb who hasn't been to confession in two years despite really needing to.

But usually, when they do that, they're not even remotely subtle about it. Lenny is an ass, but also a truly decent man at heart, that talks to God and is portrayed as that having an actual effect on reality. He's not portrayed as some equivalent of an evangelist shyster. He's not a piece of shit that takes advantage of his position to get his dick wet. S1 doesn't come off like your typical lefty propaganda shite.
