>people shit on Family Guy all the time for being edgy and becasue the family hate each other
>Bob’s Burguer is literalky the opposite
>nobody cares about Bob’s Burger and Family Guy is more popular
Why is Bob’s Burger so unpopular? I didn’t knew jack shit about this show until I saw it on Disney+

Is it unpopular. It had a feature film in cinemas not long back.
But I rarely see it being talked online
Neither do I
How often do you see anyone talking about NCIS? That shit gets 10 million viewers.
10. Million. On television. People actually sit down and watch this, ads and all, at it's designated time. 10 million of them.
>NCIS
>it's still ongoing
oh damn
do they still use the original actor for gibbs? he looked pretty old when i stopped watching it like 10 years ago
Because it doesn't piss people off and is pretty consistently solid.
Nobody watched that movie
Maybe if they actually showed louise without the hat...
I don't think that would have dramatically changed the turnout for the movie.
It would've, people are completionist and will check out a movie if FOMO is involved.
I skipped it because Sam Seder in it. He's a jackass.
Sam Seder was barely in it.
>Why is Bob’s Burger so unpopular
its not funny
I like it. I like the kind of humour that is really awkward character talking and not finishing their sentences
it's a good show. it's original and wholesome.
>it was
Ever heard of middle child syndrome? It's like that. People tend to fixate on the shit that really stands out in their life, whether it's supremely good or supremely bad. Family Guy is memeable for how offensive and horribly written it is, which nonetheless makes it stick in people's minds. Bob's Burgers is an okay, ordinary and not super-offensive show, so it slides into the middle of the pack and nobody has much to say about it afterwards because they were satisfied watching it. It's like how nobody talks about the comics and shit they LIKE on boards like Cinemaphile, just the drek that gets threads bumped.
>people shit on Family Guy all the time for being edgy and becasue the family hate each other
The only people who do this are really prude conservatives and nerds that spend most of their free time online. Normal people do not care, I assure you.
Bobs burgers is one of the few long running FOX animated shows that did not catch on in Russia at all. Idk what that says about it but there's that
Russians are REALLY edgy. They love Mortal Kombat, Fear and Hunger and Black Souls
I love Russians
You can't expect to get popular just by being the opposite of family guy.
At the start it was Home Movies: The Simpsons, then it lost its edge
This is the main problem. It started a bit edgy and now it's for 7 year olds. The creator said they received letter from little kids loving the show, so they decided to make it more family friendly and now it's just dull as hell.
there was an epiosde where thy talked about putting people in the burgers
i remember a 'just the tip' joke in reference to sex
and there was an epiosde about bikers have a pregnancy in the burger shop
its hardly for kids
>epiosde where thy talked about putting people in the burgers
you mean the very first episode?
>a 'just the tip' joke in reference to sex
which is only sexual if you already know that, so to a kid it's just a non-sequitor.
>bikers have a pregnancy in the burger shop
which is a natural part of life, and only slightly unsanitary. it's about as edgy as "the poopoo and the peepee" from the school song episode.
I think it's a shame that Bob's Burgers isn't that popular, since it's about the same level of humor & heart The Simpsons was during its peak (seasons 5&6). maybe it's how simplistic the animation is that holds it back, but it's by animating things so stiffly most of the time that they can afford to spend time on the backgrounds (like pic related) and specific moments that require more animation, like the action scenes in Dream a Little Bob of Bob or the shark running amok in The Deepening.
idk, i find having limited animation can be a good thing in some cases, look at the original clone high, a lot of it were stills with very little and basic movement cycles with the occasional scenes with actual good animation which means a ton of the jokes came from the writing and a few character expressions. The reboot in the other hand is overly animated with a lot of the jokes coming at the expense of the animation itself, same for nu-sponge bob
This season’s been alright. Not amazing, but a noticeable step up compared to the most recent seasons that precede it.
except the lame as frick Clamstradamus episode
I hate all attempts at drama too.
>he didn't like Amelia or The Amazing Rudy
What are you still watching the show for then?
The vain hope it just goes back to being edgy.
>and there was an epiosde about bikers have a pregnancy in the burger shop
That was in season 3 tho.
Yeah alot of that is from the earlier seasons dude.
I like Bob's Burgers but Family Guy is more enjoyable to watch, especially in small doses which are incredibly easy to find online.
>Bob’s Burguer is literalky the opposite
Right, yes. Bob's Burger's goes so far in the other direction that it becomes equally flawed.
>Bob’s Burguer is literalky the opposite
Bob's Burgers did have an edge to it early on but for some reason they decided they were going to smooth most of that over and become an incredibly comfy show.
When Bob's Burgers first started, it wasn't even as explicit as its adult animation cohorts. I really have no clue why the writers thought it best to soften the show even MORE
It's what was getting them good press from A.V. Club and Vulture.
BB failed pretty hard after the first 1 or 2 season(s). I mean it wasn't anything to write home about in the beginning but good god those later seasons. It feels like they knew kids watch their show so they dialed down pretty much everything. Fricking modern Simpsons is edgier than BB, hell even King of the Hill is edgier than BB.
Frick you, the show was decently popular for at least its first 5-7 seasons, and for good reason too. Bob's used to be legit hilarious back then. The episode premises felt more ambitious, the jokes landed, and there were plenty of memorable lines, characters, and songs. There's a reason why no one actively cares about it these days; it's actually gotten lamer and lamer the longer it goes on.
>Why is this boring shit show not liked by everyone?
Family guy went edgier, Bobs burgers went schmaltzier, Simpsons had the perfect balance but got stale.
Rick and Morty is genuinely my favorite adult cartoon despite its many flaws due to the sitcom aspect taking more of a back seat to the sci fi adventures and situations. I think people are just tired of adult cartoons being sitcoms, they should include more fantasy and sci fi, they are cartoons after all.
I think you just perfectly described why Venture Brothers is my favorite adult animated sitcom.
Because we've had American dad for over 2 decades now.
NEED jookbox to make more bobs burgers and american dad content quicker REE
Bob's Burgers never got real popular because they didn't lean enough into gimmick characters. Any adult cartoon worth its salt has a meme character to overexposure to the public.
if they used Gayle more often, people wouldn't like her because she would get really annoying
If nobody cares about Bob’s Burgers then how come it’s still on the air?
it used to be safe edgy but now it is just safe most of the time.
Literally nothing funny in Bob's Burgers ever. It's more of an American slice of life show.
Bob's Burgers is the opposite of controversial, which I'd argue is worse than the reputation Family Guy built during the 2010s.
the fact that i could only keep that image open long enough to decipher a single square is proof that FG's over-reliance on gore as a replacement for humor is still the worse reputation.
Yes but it kept the show on people's minds. Can't say nearly the same for Bob's Burgers S7 onward.
yeah, kept it on their minds as something to avoid.
Well with them having toned down on the gore since then, people have gravitated toward the series again and appreciate the most recent seasons even more because of it.
I feel like doing the opposite—getting back to their edgy roots—would do Bob's Burgers a HUGE favor. It's no different than a kids' cartoon now.
nah, the time away made me realize FG stopped being good after it got cancelled the first time. couldn't pay me to watch any recent episodes.
i do agree with you on BB.
the most recent season has been edgier than usual
season 4 of Family Guy is good, PTV in particular is a classic
>the most recent season has been edgier than usual
But still nowhere near the levels of the first 4 seasons.
>Why is Bob’s Burger so unpopular?
Having irritating unfunny obnoxious main characters will generally not be a good thing. Linda Belcher alone is one of the most overwhelmingly annoying character creations of the past twenty years thanks to the nasally New Jersey accent Roberts performs with. (Roberts claims its his mother he's trying to mimic)
>Roberts claims its his mother he's trying to mimic
so is the joke that he killed her and took on her voice as a crazy means of coping?
i always didn't like there only being one female lead in the cast (Kristen Schaal) but I did enjoy how well the girlscout type scenes turned out in various episodes. i.e. when they end up at camp and the counsellors are fairys and one of the girls just wants a wand and screws up everyones day to get one. all of the school parts with female cast are also very believable
Bob's Burgers is like... venills ice cream. Nobody talk about it because it's okay. It isn't bad so there's nothing to complains about. It isn't suoer great so there is nothing to praise.
It really is damning with feint praise. It's fine.
Bob's Burgers had a shift at some point, leaving people unsure if it's a kid cartoon or some typical adult cartoon sitcom (but less edgy than those are expected to be). Furthermore, it leans too far into being annoying. Gene fricking sucks. Tina grates on plenty of people. Louise's schtick can wear thin. Linda is fine. Bob is too passive, and you ultimately can't sell a show to a lot of people ENTIRELY on Jon Benjamin sighing.
it's not, but it's simply "okay"
so there's just not much to talk about, there's not enough "good" to try to shill it to people and not bad enough to make a career about dunking on it.
Bob's Burgers suffers from being too "comfy". It's lost all its edge and spontaneity. It's pure, bland comfort food for its existing audience.
I like it because the main cast actually behave like a family. The Simpsons, Family Guy, Krapopolis and even Great North casts all behave like roommates rather than families.
Ever since the movie, they made Louise nice and killed the show.
Louise has been neutered for years, even before the movie.
When exactly did that start, though? Is that something one can actually pinpoint?
It's been discussed in BB threads before. I think that garden episode from season 4 has been pointed out repeatedly.
Going after some defenseless plant with those gardening shears instead of Logan is b***h made.
Bob's burgers is not unpopular. Unpopular shows don't make it passed 3 seasons or get a movie for theaters
>marathon the whole series and the movie
>love it
>start watching the new season after the movie
>liking the first few episodes
>watch the episode about the school dance teachers?! Or something
>stop watching the show
Not sure what happened did that last episode was that bad? Kek
because it’s a boring show for quirky twitter millenials
More like Gen X'ers who want to be quirky twitter millenials.
It's a wine aunt and cat lady show.
I honestly feel like it's an American thing. They love trashy junk-food-of-TV shows like this. My guess is that Bob's Burgers was slightly better than the Paradise PD/Brickleberry shit they usually try to do.
Think about it, they just need a cheap flash cartoon to fill in the gaps in these cable channels that a bunch of boomers are still subscribed to. People might watch or not really, the point is getting enough viewers to carry you on to the next commercial block in an off hour.
It had decent popularity at one point it just fell off from becoming stale and toothless in its later seasons. It wants to be the next long running American cartoon comedy.
