People who say Goodfellas is better than The Godfather are actually moronic. What a sublimely flawless film.

What about people who say the second Godfather is better than the first?
they're patricians
theyre both wrong.
The Godfather has too many iconic moments. A movie that actually makes several memorable and likeable characters
Godfather 2 is a great film but fricking hell its too depressing. You have to be in right mood to watch it. The first you dont.
go away
Box office reflected that. GF1 made five times as much as GF2.
Goodfellas and The Godfather are completely different movies. No point in comparing them.
Boring as hell, I hated it.
it insist upon itself
Goodfellas is a lot better than Godfather.
So is Scarface, Casino, and Once Upon a Time in America.
There is one flaw, and it was in sound editing:
>I TALKED to Barzini.
They are completely different films, that's like comparing fast zombies to slow zombies.
>michael goes from being some weak little beta to a ruthless mafia boss in like two scenes
don't know why people praise this shit movie
He fought in the pacific theater as a marine in ww2 fatso
No shit. Probably had five times as many kills as most mafia guys.
that was before the beginning of the movie
You're fat and gay. Vito was grooming him the whole time. He wanted his son to become a senator to go legitimate. No better way to win elections in those times than being a asiatic killing machine.
>asiatic
You mean nips or japs. asiatics were the Vietnamese.
yet fighting in the war didn't change his personality but hiding out in sicily did? you're a moron
It's an evolution of a person crammed into a short amount of time. He goes from crayon eating marine to civilian who saw his fat old father's attempted murder. Then sent off to a pastaBlack personland. His life was tough
Having his wife killed in a car blast sure did. Did it not?
I never got how Vito accepted his dlson going into the military where he could get clapped just by pissing in the wrong bush.
He was son 3. He wanted a son who could go legitimate. Don tells Michaelhe away wanted him to be a Senator. Took the risk and let him go. Ww2 vets were an easy ticket in politics. Sonny was already in the family's dealings so no way he could go legitimate
he is in uniform in the first scene
movie begins in 1945
They murdered his tradwife, what motivation does someone need to become a ruthless killer
Murdered his wife
Murdered his brother
Tried to murder his father
Pretty huge motivation for brutal revenge
and beat his sister
he was a war hero chud
He goes throu after the death of best character Sonny did you watch the movie?
>college man who quits to serve in army comes back in control of his emotions
>hard to believe he can separate personal from business and be a stone cold killer
He always had it in him. You see it when he tells the idea to assassinate the police captain and Sollozzo. Nobody else thought of it.
On another note Sonny was a man who couldn’t separate personal and business
he became desensitized once he blasted Sterling Hayden
Anybody see THE OFFER, the miniseries about the making of The Godfather?
I thought it was great.
It made me rewatch the trilogy, and i saw Coda for the first time
Me too. Rewatched the trilogy after seeing The Offer. Great show.
why did matthew goode sound like he had a cold after the first two episodes though lol
The only flaw with The Offer is they made it seem like women understand The Godfather
The Godfather is a flawed movie. If it came out today it would have been received like Dunc was. It did have amazing acting, set design and all that but the script was bloated. It was very influential but it's not perfect
How was the script bloated, it was sparse in dialogue and the atmosphere drove many scenes.
Bunch of Italians either yelling at each other or speaking all cryptic. Characters just die in a dramatic scene where you don't even know who's killing who and why. Too many characters honestly. It's a great effort for a book adaptation but it doesn't really hit unless you know the subject material somewhat. This might seem like a troll post but it's definitely not an amazing movie without a bit of context. Again still perfectly acted, directed and everything but it's not perfect.
I calla the mafia, they stompa ya balls.
I agree somewhat with you. I’d say because you don’t know some of the context from the book or passed viewings doesn’t make it bloated. I never think movies are made to be watched once
I got banned the other day for posting this. My thread just asked if is this it, bros and arguing on AOL chat rooms about kino
Forgot pic
I posted this picture but I just wanted to reiterate that no matter how Chad you are, do we really just up as Don Vito. What's the point?
The biggest problem with The Godfather is the characters. They're all unlikeable and boring. Scorsese knows how to create interesting and memorable characters. The pacing and editing of Goodfellas is better, too.
>make a movie about family
>a family that could be your family
>they are unlikeable and boring
they nailed it
sounds like a you problem to me
Yeah, they're both total shit
I think Part III deserves to stand right beside the other two. Yes it is not as good but it’s an 8/10 film
>b-b-but much sofia acting
b2r. Pacino sucks the acting prowess of everyone on the film to deliver some of the best acting I’ve ever seen on film.
The film also has many iconic moments
I need to rewatch 3 but I just watched Coda and it was good.
Sofia carries part 3 if you're a coomer such as myself
THEY'RE COUSINS SICKO
It’s good. For whatever reason it has bad word of mouth because the first two are better and Coppola made it to fund his vineyard.
>People who say Goodfellas is better than The Godfather
literally no one says that
Goodfellas is better than the Godfather part 1 and I'll stand by that. Godfather 1 and 2 and Goodfellas is looking weak, the Godfather 3 comes around and Goodfellas is better than all the Godfather movies. Coppola ruined everything with part 3.
this is the most moronic post i've ever read
