This is all about American confusion and delusion about real cheese.
Gordon makes a perfect cheese sandwich but uses hard cheese which doesn't melt and turn into goo.
This is makes Americans to assume that the sandwich is cold and inedible.
i'm starting to think the dude just doesn't know how to toast bread in a pan. honestly makes sense because when would he ever have to do that otherwise?
all the dumb ingredients aside...
fricker tried to hide the bottom but even just looked at the side its' clearly burnt. How the frick can he frick up something that basic.
Gordon just doesn't get how to do simple poor people food like this. Its meant to be simple, all that other stuff and his method of cooking was just overcomplicating things. That would have been way better as just a normal sandwich
does Gordon just feel the pressure to make everything super fast because all he does is host TV shows with quick editing or with contestants that are timed? just fricking chill out and turn the heat down a bit, man. slowly toast that bread
He's clearly doing a live show in the video. Him spending a minute to slap together some bread and cheese singles would make it very boring for the audience.

Then don’t make a grilled cheese redemption video in front of a live audience. Make something else.
like i don't doubt it's fricking delicious but it's taking what's arguably the most simple food aside from like single ingredient food and turning it into a bigger thing unnecessarily
someone else recreated this, and it wasn't a bad recipe
It was just that Gordon was a fricking idiot for making a grilled cheese on a fricking cast iron over an open flame.
You have zero control over a wildfire and you don't even bother to properly melt or get non-burnt crust on the sandwich
You have control over the heat with a live fire. You just add or remove wood from the fire underneath the pan or raise or lower the pan so that its further away from the fire. Its not that complicated even if its not as precise as proper dials.
the point is that he didn't even look like he could be bothered to do that. he just shoved it into a fire instead. how easy it would be to just scrap what they filmed and do another take? ramsay knows he makes his big bucks on actual TV
I legitimately make this all the time now, sometimes swapping out one of the cheeses for a hatch chile gouda, and it is unironically the best grilled cheese and one of the best sandwhiches period I've ever had or made.
I'm convinced New Zealand was never a real place and sprang into existence in 2001 and everyone just went along with it, feeling stupid for never having heard of it before.

"American cheese" is called a "cheese product" not because it doesn't contain real cheese but because it has added ingredients in it which give it the typical properties its known for.
Americans do not have access to real cheese, local meat, or fresh baked bread.
Americans eat fifty kinds of cheddar and shredded processed cheese. If they're lucky they have mozzarella still in a brine, whatever the frick "swiss" means, bleu cheese (generally in a bottle of premade dressing), and one soft cheese: brie. If they're really fancy, they will have Meunster.
Their bread aisle is a bunch of bags of shelf stable bread that can survive thermonuclear war. Sometimes the 'artisan' bread bags are literally painted to look like they have beads of steam clouding them, as if they came off a bakery line. They will have access to maybe two types of fresh baked breads at Walmart.
Americans have no concept of the European bakeries. I think it's impossible to explain to Americans that in Europe, in every small town, there are at least 4 bakeries selling daily fresh baked breads and savory lunch items. American "bakeries" are just pastry shops selling desserts.
Unless you live in a big city, you do not have access to the quality of food found in Europe. If you've never been, you have no idea what you're missing out on. To quote Boris Yeltson, if Amerimutts knew all their food was goyslop and even poor shithole countries have real food in Europe, "there would be a revolution".
Most Amerimutts don't even know all their meat is processed in USDA approved slaughterhouses owned by the same four companies. You would assume if you live in a big cow state, you'd be eating local meat. You might be wrong. It's impossible to tell. USDA inspection labels don't tell you where the cow came from, what company raised it, where it was slaughtered. You don't know shit.
And you might think if you walk down to your local deli you can buy a cut right off a local cow. WRONG!!!! WRONG!!!!!!!!!!! It is FEDERALLY ILLEGAL to sell meat you butchered yourself. The only way you buy local meat butchered by a guy you know is to buy half of an entire cow to get what is called 'custom meat', which CANNOT be sold as individual cuts. ALL meat in the US is from slaughterhouses.

People are insisting to me Americans in podunk towns with fewer than 1000 people you can still get cheeses of wide variety similar to region-controlled European cheeses. You can get locally slaughtered meat you know for sure came from a specific farm. You can get bread baked that fricking day in more than 2 styles. You're totally wrong.

I've an American and visited Italy before. It's clearly high quality food overall in terms of both dishes and ingredients. You can still get fresh food by growing it yourself or going to a local butcher or bakery. We do have both of these, but they are nowhere nearly as common. I know of one two legit butcher shops in my area and both are always super packed anytime I go in there. Unfortunately I don't think there are any legit bakeries around here, but I've seen them in other towns.
You can get mad and think we are stupid, but no we realize we don't have it as good as other countries if you ever visited Europe. I've heard only one person ever say we had better food than European countries and it was a guy running a mediocre Italian restaurant who came from Italy himself. I don't know what part of Italy he came from, but man I don't want to go there wherever it is. >what are you going to do about it amerimut-
Nothing because what the hell can we do? Tell these companies they are poisoning us while they soak those tears up with hundred dollar bills? All we can do is just rely on locally raised and grown produce and food, which is available if you look for it.
Oh, and to point something out: You can bake your own stuff at home. You don't need to go out to a bakery to make your own bread. >haha you amerimutts just eat goyslop like pre-made dough-
No I mean actually make the bread ourselves. I worked in a pizza shop that did this. We brought in the yeast, etc. It was time intensive but totally worth it. Same for family and friends that make our own bread at home that is significantly better than anything from restaurants. You American obsessed people forget we have things called kitchens in America where we can make our own food. You have a point on our ingredients not being as fresh or high quality, but again we can plant them ourselves or go to a farmers market in the area where the farmers literally bring the food down and sell it directly. It is always better quality than the grocery store. If you lived in America and cared about food you would realize these things exist. We don't all just go out to McDonalds every day. Maybe you kind of posters should appreciate what food you do have instead of obsessing on Americans 24/7.
>in Europe, in every small town, there are at least 4 bakeries selling daily fresh baked breads and savory lunch items. American "bakeries" are just pastry shops selling desserts.
I wonder why this never really was a thing here in the states. (To the best of my knowledge.) I guess we were just too quick to industrialize it.

CHEESE.
NICE AND COLD.
the heat of the bread melts the cheese
he even fricked up the new version he did. he's gotta be trolling at this point
there's a new one?
i'm starting to think the dude just doesn't know how to toast bread in a pan. honestly makes sense because when would he ever have to do that otherwise?
all that extra shit and he still made a terrible grilled cheese lol
Too much bread AGAIN. Gordon has completely lost the plot
that's just a frickin toasted beef sandwich and he still botched the toast
holy shit what's wrong with this guy.
TikTok melts brains no matter the age
all the dumb ingredients aside...
fricker tried to hide the bottom but even just looked at the side its' clearly burnt. How the frick can he frick up something that basic.
>and I'm going to make this amazing jalepeno jam
kek how hard is it to just make grilled cheese? He must be trolling right?
i'd love for him to just make a third video in complete silence with zero audience and make it with american cheese and wonderbread
Gordon just doesn't get how to do simple poor people food like this. Its meant to be simple, all that other stuff and his method of cooking was just overcomplicating things. That would have been way better as just a normal sandwich
Unironically what's wrong with this?
not a grilled cheese by any means, still arguably did a bad toast job when this was suppose to redeem himself.
>grilled cheese
>with mushrooms and beef and jam
he just made a panini, not a grilled cheese
>4:11
HE DID IT HE SAID THE THING
It's time to get a grilled sandwich maker, Gordon.
does Gordon just feel the pressure to make everything super fast because all he does is host TV shows with quick editing or with contestants that are timed? just fricking chill out and turn the heat down a bit, man. slowly toast that bread
He started off calling it a "jalapeño jam", then by the end was calling it a "jalapeño chutney"
was he just bullshitting the whole thing?
oh my goodness me
>80% of the shit he interacts with is neither cheese nor bread
I guess its just to make it more interesting and make the show last longer. Making a basic grilled cheese would only take a few minutes.
YouTube videos normally take a couple minutes
He's clearly doing a live show in the video. Him spending a minute to slap together some bread and cheese singles would make it very boring for the audience.
Then don’t make a grilled cheese redemption video in front of a live audience. Make something else.
But he was redeemed.

Gordon is now 0-2 vs grilled cheese
YouTube comment
yes, i thought it was funny
yes he makes a sandwich with cheese and bakes it in the oven
Yeah, frick him for using artisan cheese and not artificially-flavoured cheese product and fake American chemical bread.
you can still make a great grilled cheese with non american cheese or bread. nice try though, moron.
>chemical bread
What would bread be like with no chemicals?
You do know everything is made of chemicals, right?
Young Marco and Gordon time travelling to the current year to berate and yell at modern Gordon would be kino
I just drank a liter of milk
Full fat if I might add

yeah, but he was a complete idiot and decided to let his pan get overwhelmingly hot and just added the sandwich into willy nilly
I don't have respect for "professional chefs" anymore. Cooking for myself has been so much more cheap and enjoyable
I legitimately make this all the time now, sometimes swapping out one of the cheeses for a hatch chile gouda, and it is unironically the best grilled cheese and one of the best sandwhiches period I've ever had or made.
it would actually be pretty good if you did it low and slow in a pan and not over an open fire. he didn't do himself any favors by doing that
Too much bread for the amount of cheese he used
agreed. thinner cut of bread, lower heat and i bet he could have gotten that cheese to melt a bit better.
I prefer a nice water sandwich.
>water sandwich
>NZ
Never heard of it, sounds like a joke.
nah it's real
actually pretty good on a hot day
They are real, my brother used to eat them. Did you ever eat Vegemite and lettuce sandwiches as a kid or was that just us?
Vegemite's australian, we had marmite like a normal person.
>hot day
>NZ
Marmite is disgusting and is English anyway.
I'm pretty sure it's South African, but NZ is an English country anyway.
>water sandwich
with you so far

I'm gagging thinking about it

i actually agree with this nz is mandela effect the country
We are rightfully a Dutch country really.
It is extremely new, even for the so-called natives.
Fun fact, maori found the country about 200 years before the Brits did.

Must be bongland if it’s true name is a crisp sandwich. Down here it’s a chip sandwich and you don’t put butter in it. Just chips and white bread.

This. Americans are so used to eating slop that they've forgotten what real food looks like.
What's the point of bread? I can understand a little bit, but it basically is just cheapest thing to fill your stomach. Yall eat way too much bread.
