not a homosexual so i can't comment on the whole attractiveness thing, but chalamet has the boyishness the character needs, and he's also got a screen presence/charisma that you don't find much with young actors these days. plus his voice is smooth enough to deliver the lines griffith would need to deliver. there is no one else

unfortunately i have to agree with this, i can't think of anyone else that would even come close to griffith and that's not saying that timmy would come close himself, but possibly the closest

Explain what made this b***h a perfectly written character

      Anonymous

He makes you ponder the idea of culpability if one's actions are caused by a system of imposed determinism. In their scenario, he's just as much a victim as anyone else. Everything he did wrong was a result of a millennium of scheming by the underlying metaphysical world order, all to lead to the Eclipse and ensure he would accept ascension. And that's only pertaining to the Golden Age arc.

      GRIFFITH!!!!!!!!

It's crazy Miura died right after delivering this. With this one panel you can deduce the trajectory of the rest of the story, maybe even the intended ending.

        Anonymous

        >In their scenario, he's just as much a victim as anyone else
He CHOSE to do what he did. He could've just allowed himself to keel over and die, but no, he CHOSE to activate the behelit.

Yes, but what does a "choice" matter in the circumstance I detailed? His existence and the entire makeup of his world and perspective were induced to ensure that choice. To be clear, I'm not absolving him, because I don't have an answer.

I'm so sick of anime nerds telling me the sub-art is compelling. With Berserk you have to sit through so much trash with fighting and swords clinking, and then the show doesn't even have an ending. If it was condensed to a 2 hr movie it would be okay.

You should probably watch more shows, preferably not no-budget cartoons aimed at teenagers.

I did read the manga this year. It's basically identical to the anime except there's an extra segment that doesn't serve much purpose overall (especially not to the characterization), and there's some rape in it which also serves no purpose but to excite teenagers.

        Who is this guy

Dude from the shounen anime berserk. He's a bad person but he's charismatic. This blows teenagers minds.

No (You) because you Black folk are moronic. Griffith wasn't obsessed with Guts. At least not before he left. The reason Griffith gor mindbroken was because Guts was the furst person to defy him. He thought he had him under his spell like the rest of the band. Guts realised he viewed them all as pawns and decided to leave to find his own goals and dreams. That's when Griffith realised Guts was less like the others and more like him, a strong willed individual, and he lost him. Griffith couldn't cope with the fact that he lost the one person he considered a person.

No he was in love with guts in a gay romance and you can't deny it. Griffith is a self hating homosexual to the max.

Guts not using casca as his sex toy when she's basically obsessed with him is irrefutable proof that Griffith is a closeted homosexual. Even while banging Charlotte's prime pussy he is thinking of a man, and while raping casca he is only getting off on it because he's staring at a man. Griffith is the most obvious homosexual it's not even up for debate. The moral of the story is to never trust LGBT people as they're unhinged narcissists.

      >Spare behelit used to enter the God Hand's realm.
      >Moonlight Boy transforms back into Femto but, like in 364, during the transition he can feel emotions again which resurfaces a semblance of Griffith.
      >It's communicated to him that his dream was a lie and that his whole life was devised to control and use him as a tool by Void.
      >With this realization, as he becomes Femto his prime directive changes to do what Griffith always did against his oppressors and deceivers. He lashes out and does something drastic, AKA kamikazes the God Hand realm. The boy, Griffith, and Void die.
      >Guts confronts the Idea of Evil. He's given the choice to start a God Hand again, or do whatever he wants with humanity through its power. He says pic related and cleaves the heart in half.

I could see Casca ultimately deciding they should not pursue vengeance, that the cost is not worth it, that they should just to make the best of their remaining lives. Guts struggles with this, there's probably an arc where he and some other companions attempt to take out Griffith and he loses them in the process. Guts realizes he fricked up again, he and Casca go off and live their lives in peace. Maybe some kind of magical bullshit frees them from the curse, or for a bleaker ending they just decide to live normal lives to the best of their ability anyway. Griffith stays as king and continues ruling mostly with the appearance of benevolence and is increasingly revered as a god, but it's hollow for him and he does not derive the enjoyment he thought his ambitions would give. He has no real equals, still just sycophants, and will never have Guts or Casca again. He goes on unsatisfied with his dream accomplished but empty of what he thought it would bring him while Guts and Casca are living a happy life far away where Griffith has no reach.

I say this completely without irony and not as a raging incel counterculture type: I don't understand why people get so mad at Griffith. He was tortured beyond all human imagination and rendered a mute invalid for life. I don't expect anyone to not be pretty nuts at that point, to the point of popping a behelit. And once you become an apostle, you're gonna do awful shit because it's the nature of an apostle. The circumstances severely diminish how mad I can be at him.

well he shouldn't have raped casca
      >And once you become an apostle, you're gonna do awful shit because it's the nature of an apostle
also this is absolutely not the case. The only thing that changes psychologically when a human becomes a demon is that the sacrifice "turns your heart into ice" or something. And yet despite this, we constantly see apostles who completely retain all their human emotion and personality.
The real message is that given unlimited power, humans basically always become evil naturally. It's like a retelling of the ring of gyges.

are you talking about his """"attempted rape"""" where he can barely crawl on caska before the eclipse or when he rapes her as Femto

        >And yet despite this, we constantly see apostles who completely retain all their human emotion and personality

This is true, like with the Slug King and Rosine, that Apostles do retain memories of their former lives and also people they valued, such as Theresia, or Jill. What we do not see however is any Godhand members doing such a thing. Griffith is irredeemably evil now, losing memories of intricate things of his previous life, like his own Band of the Hawk insignia. He remembers it vaguely enough, but not precisely, as Rickert points out to him. The demonic influence robbed him of his feelings and the finer tuned bits of his memories

As far as we can tell, this does not happen to Apostles, since the Slug King remembered everything in his previous life and so did Rosine with Jill and her parents. Humans become Apostles to escape the pain of those memories with a new life, but they don't forget them

What was the meaning behind him mentally screaming "STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY!" followed by this panel as Guts approached him? Was he afraid of being unable to go through with the sacrifice if Guts touched him, mentally torn between not wanting to do the sacrifice and wanting to do it, what?

      Anonymous

Griffith is basically ruined now by Guts. Guts left him originally, which broke Griffith completely. He returns to Griffith which makes Griffith happy, to have his precious friend back, even in his wrecked state. At least Guts is with him again. But then Griffith overhears Casca telling Guts he has to leave, since that's the only way he can truly be Griffith's friend. He just got him back, now he's going to leave him for the second time. It mind-broke him and he ran off on the wagon

Seeing Guts running at him like that is emotional torment because it is akin to Griffith being teased. Guts keeps coming back into his life, then leaving, then coming back, then leaving. Griffith couldn't take it anymore. Griffith wanted his dream of the castle, but with Guts in his life, Guts becomes the dream to him instead, as he admitted to in the cell. But if Guts keeps jumping in and out of his life like that and he can't have Guts, nor his castle... well, that opened the door of despair to the Godhand
