Both Peter Pan and Wendy are supposed to be roughly the same age physically. Which makes that movies casting even worse beyond the race ending

The narrative theme is that Peter rejects growing up, is tempted by his feelings for Wendy and the prospects of romance in general but knows it’s something reserved for the grownup world he does not wish to be part of/is not ready for

Wendy meanwhile does want this, hence why she chooses to go home and has a happy marriage with kids and gets to be a mother later. While still having fond memories of Peter and the adventures in neverland

Also they share similar burdens but with completely different ideas on how to handle it.

Wendy is much more mature than her age because she effectively has to help raise her two younger brothers. And later does similar for the lost boys

Peter “leads” the lost brothers but doesn’t really order them around. They’re a band of loose comrades. He isn’t their “leader”. He eschews responsibility.

I think pic related, the 2003 film had the best cast by far.

So canonically, Peter Pan is about Wendy riding the wiener carousel and then settling down later?

Yes. And still getting dicked by Chad occasionally.

So canonically, Peter Pan is about Wendy riding the wiener carousel and then settling down later?

The message of the source material is the exact opposite. Peter Pan serves as the sexual/romantic awakening for literally every girl that comes across him, but he is so reckless, chaotic, bloodthirsty and immature they all eventually give up on him. He's such a piece of shit he later on kidnaps Wendy's daughter out of spite.

Tinkerbell dies a year after Wendy left Neverland, and he completely forgot about her.

He is NOT supposed to be the good guy. In D&D terms, he's exactly what a Chaotic Neutral character is.

As to the "bloodthirsty" aspect - during a battle between the Lost Boys and the Pirates, he keeps switching sides and killing the other party to make it "less boring."

Lots of the source material for Disney movies is really compelling and still holds up today. Kipling’s Jungle Book, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Treasure Island, Tarzan, Oliver Twist, etc. All pretty distinct from their adaptations. The Jungle Book in particular got totally flipped around; Bagheera was the easygoing of Mowgli’s 3 non-wolf mentors, Baloo was more strict, and Kaa was ann old wiseman type figure. Really love the original version of Shere Khan too. A lot of Kipling’s depictions of wildlife feel ahead of their time.

I don’t ever blame actors. It’s a job, she probably made good money from it, that’s as far as they are going to / need to consider.

        >I don’t ever blame actors.
Actors need accountability for the roles they choose.

So what if Ever got a Disney paycheck. If it ruined her career, she loses out on 15+ years of multiple paychecks because she starred in a flop and no one will cast her.

          Anonymous

This anon's right, actors are a brand and will actively avoid specific roles like playing a creep or rapist and the bigger you get the more you can demand, entire careers are made on how your characters are perceived.

          >Anderson has nothing to do with Peter Pan
Not neccesarily. He most likely worked with the studio or producers, saying "You put my kid in this film and I'll cut you a financial break on future films we do together. And you get to frick Ever. Win win, right!"
