And that is irrelevant. She still IS Gwen Stacy, she exists to play on the relationship that Peter once had with Gwen. Literally her whole existence is "what if Peter die and not Gwen". The character is still tied to Peter Parker both from a meta and narrative standpoint.
Obviously it's not Sin's Past level shit but it's still them trying to shack Miles up with the girlfriend that Peter tragically couldn't save.
