IM 3, Thor 2, Ant Man, and AoU are all shit
Most of the MCU is shit. I said peak, homie, PEAK.
But the peak was IM1
IM1 was good but my favorite MCU movie is definitely still GotG1. GotG1 is the definitive ensemble MCU movie. Avengers genuinely sucks compared to it.
>IM3
>bad
I can't believe this low IQ opinion still gets parroted. Ant Man wasn't even bad either, it was decent. The sequel sucked ass though, but that's Phase 3.
IM3 was dope. I really enjoyed the MacGyver shit. Really drilled home that Tony Stark built it all in a cave with a box of scraps. and that's dope.
About half of Iron Man 3 is fine, but after spending most of it's running time proving Tony Stark can still be a hero without the armor, it keeps on refusing to let Iron Man be Iron Man in an Iron Man movie, only Tony doesn't even beat the villain with his own ingenuity, he's basically a bystander. And that's without even getting into the story forgetting about Tony's PTSD, or the Mandarin twist. If you're going to do something like that, the real villain needs to be much better than the fake villain looked to be, and Killian was such a nothing villain.
Well, it is because it really tried to break the genre mold during that time. Thor: The Dark World was epic fantasy ala LOTR, Winter Soldier was a spy thriller, and great counterpart to the theming and style of First Avenger, GOTG is a space opera, and Ant-Man was a heist movie
Lol gr8 b8
He's genuinely right though. Phase 2 seemed to try the hardest to make the movies feel different. It even kind of bled into Phase 3 with homecoming feeling like a high school John Hughes comedy. At this point they don't try that at all. Doctor Strange 2 was supposed to be a horror movie but it isn't.
Phase 4 is the opposite of Phase 2. They went out of their way to rewrite and reshoot Dr Strange 2 to make it more in-line with other MCU movies. It's literally the anti-soul phase.
>Phase 2 seemed to try the hardest to make the movies feel different.
Aside from Cap 2, all the phase 2 movies did the same thing. Tension breaking "humor" and flat villains that left no impression because it was all about the quirky heroes.
Looking back its weird that these films were so popular.
half of these are absolutely terrible
Most of the MCU is terrible. Look at phase 1 and 3. They're even worse. Phase 4 is genuinely all bad movies so far.
At least with phase 1 it was cool to see these characters on the big screen
Winter soldier and guardians are the only two decent things there.
Do you not understand the word "peak" anon? Go look at Phases 1 and 3. They're worse.
Phase 1 is better - IM1, Cap 1, and Hulk are all great. Avengers 1 was good for what it was despite being a bad movie - a good theater experience
>cap 1
>hulk
>great
Literally worse than Winter Soldier and Ant Man. Iron Man 3 is genuinely as good as Iron Man 1 for different reasons. Avengers is the only superior movie in Phase 1 but that's because Whedon is a hack.
Why do people keep pretending Hulk was good? It wasn't. Winter Soldier is the definitive Captain America story in the MCU as far as I'm concerned.
I liked Phase 3 more. Hell I like Phase 1 better too. Phase 1 had IM1, TFA and Avengers. I liked them. Hulk, I appreciate more looking back. Really it's just Iron Man 2 I didn't like and then Iron Man 3 was a total turd with the Mandarin shit which was a Phase 2 movie.
Phase 3 was only good for Infinity War and Far From Home. Phase 1 was only good for Iron Man. Both noticeably less soul than Phase 2.
Phase 2 was the best since it was during a time when the MCU still wasn't a guaranteed success so they had to keep trying. You can tell by Phase 3 they were sure of themselves and the soul started to drain.
Thor Dark World gets memed on but it genuinely seems soulful compared to everything I've seen about Thor 4 so far. I even kinda miss Darcy and her fat breasts.
If Thor Love and Thunder doesn't get Dark World levels of hate I have no faith in critics anymore.
I don't really understand why The Dark World gets hated so much, it's basically on the same level as Ant-Man 2, a generic MCU movie that's enjoyable enough when you're watching it but not something you'll still care about by the next day. It doesn't really do anything bad enough to warrant the level of hate it gets, and nobody ever really seems to articulate why they hate it in the same way people can for every other MCU movie that's disliked here.
They did Malekith dirty, just like with Whiplash. They cut out his backstory that made him a more interesting and sympathetic villain. So you have a boring villain, boring plot, and Kat Dennings' smothered breasts. A tragedy from start to finish.
It's far from the only MCU movie with an underdeveloped underwhelming villain, though. It's flaws are flaws a number of the other movies share.
I'm not arguing that it's good, I'm just arguing that it's drastically over-hated for what it is.
This is how I feel when people shit on Man of Steel or Batman v Superman. I'm not saying they're good, but they seemed pretty close in quality to the average MCU movie. I feel genuinely gaslit being told they're utter shit after being told Ant Man & The Wasp is good.
Justice League genuinely was shit though, yes even Snyder's Cut was only marginally less shit.
Yeah, the Snyder movies are definitely over-hated. Everyone knows they're flawed, but at least they were trying to do something new and interesting with characters who'd already had a number of earlier live action adaptations before. I think a lot of the excessive hate, while MCU movies that are no better get a free pass is just company wars. Some of it is probably also pushback against the fans who fought for the Snyder Cut.
Because it exemplifies all the problems with the MCU with nothing good going for it. It's when casuals started to realize that some MCU staples were overdone and not that good. Avengers 2 made things worse. The first Strange movie had people complaining about the overdone humor. But Avengers 2 had Spader as Ultron and that great trailer. Strange had the visuals to wow people. Dark World really had nothing so it got a lot of hate.
Dark World came out when MCU brainwashing wasn't in full effect yet. People also hated in Avengers 2, which while it is kinda shit, would pass as a successful MCU TV show these days. The standards of MCU fans drops with every phase. Thor 4 genuinely looks like shit but they'll stop love it.
>Thor 4 genuinely looks like shit but they'll stop love it.
I don't know if this is guaranteed. Doctor Strange 2 made more than the first movie, but made most of it's money in the opening weekend, it was the second MCU movie after Eternals where reviewers were saying it kind of sucked, even if they were still giving it 7/10 and telling people to go see it, and a good number of people who saw it seem to dislike it. If the same happens with Thor Four the execs are going to panic, go into damage control and course correction mode very quickly, even if it also makes a lot of money.
I completely forgot Eternals exists holy shit. Phase 4 has transcended soulless.
Phase 1 was pure soul. You can argue that phase 2 is better but it wasn't the wild west of the MCU where everyone was doing something different.
Phase 1 was kinda soulless BECAUSE they didn't want to go crazy yet. The movies are mostly boring and basic origin stories that don't do anything too wild outside of setting up the Avengers movie.
I genuinely had no idea where Phase 2 was going. It felt more wild.
winter soldier is good and i personally like guardians but the rest of the movies are so SHIT some of the disney+ shows are better than them.
The best MCU show is worse than the worst MCU movie, no debate necessary. Wandavision was only good for the cute sitcom scenes. At least the bad MCU movies are just movies and end in 2 hours. MCU shows are bad for 3-6 hours.
Phase 1: boring origin stories
Phase 2: fun sophomore experimentation
Phase 3: infinity war and spiderman
Phase 4: soulless corporate victory lap
I love how most people agree 90% of the MCU is shit at this point. I remember years ago predicting that people won't look back on these movies fondly and everyone told me to cope and seethe.
Reminder: time is the final judge of quality. Next time an MCU movie has a 99% on RT, just remember you'll hate it in 5 years.
It was fine until Ultron, the worst movie in the MCU.
It has Cap 2, GotG and Ant-man so yeah I like it
The only good one was Thor: The Dark World, the rest were crap
the only good Marvel movies are:
Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy
Hulk (2003)
Iron Man (2008)
I want to argue but I can’t. OP is right.
