goat episode, rip
That was kino. I think he was also the police chief in Rush Hour.
>I remember when the librarian was a much older woman: kindly, discreet, unattractive. We didn't know anything about her private life. We didn't want to know anything about her private life. She didn't have a private life.
Where did we go wrong, librarybros?
kek first thing i thought of
Based actor
Never found him or that episode funny.
>the guy is named BOOKMAN? Thats like an ice cream man named CONE!
F for Bookman
he was so underutilized. he should have had a comfy gig as the lead in a detective show with great writing like Columbo, no that CSI shit
I want a detective show about a library cop or someone similar who takes his job way too seriously. No solving real crimes or finding who murdered who. Just tracking down overdue books and stuff.
Closest I can think of is pic related, but you have to not hate Jason Schwartzman to enjoy it, which is a big ask
Yeah maybe something like that. Maybe like a private investigator who solves mundane mysteries. Would be funnier if he was overzealous and straight laced about it.
no i am saying in a timeline that isnt our shitty timeline, Phillip Baker Hall would have had a comfy detective serial kino
yeah this guy gets it. it would have been so good. I'm sure if we had quality as a priority instead of wokism it would have happened
>Yeah '71, that was my first year on the job. Bad year for libraries. Bad year for America. Hippies burning library cards, Abby Hoffman telling everybody to steal books. I don't judge a man by the length of his hair or the kind of music he listens to. Rock was never my bag. But you put on a pair of shoes when you walk into the New York Public Library, fella.
First thing that came to my mind. RIP. He was a great character actor. He was good in The Insider, Truman Show and plenty of other great movies.
F, pure kino
RIP
one of my favourites
F
RIP. Brilliant performance here.
Quite possibly the finest scene in any sitcom ever.
F
RIP

>He was one of those That Guys

He played Truman’s wife
For me, it was him in Midnight Run with Farina.
>Sydney, relax, have a cream soda.

Don't use that phone!
Kino
RIP
For me, it was the old guy that sold pot brownies in 50/50
added to my watchlist thanks fren
I think the two films that I associate him with the most are Bruce Almighty and Boogie Nights
That guy from Zodiac and Boogie Nights for me. Rest in power king.
R.I.P. that guy
Hot frick action to the max.
BUTTER IN MY ASS
and
LOLLIPOPS IN MY MOUTH
He was one of the Judges in Miami Vice. I think the Mosca or Lombard trial episodes.
Yes, wasn't it one of the first episodes? The lights go out and everyone has their guns out when they come back on. Maybe I'm wrong though.
The lights go out and all of the court clerks pull out sidearms & the judge pulls out a mossberg mariner shotgun pointing them at the defendant. One of many great scenes in the pilot. I think that was a different judge though, google is telling me Baker was in Contempt of Court, which was the Mosca trial in s4.
Yeah I knew I was wrong. I haven't watched season 4.
It's good and it's kino. The pilot episodes were more cinematically well done than the rest of the season IMO but they're still good.
whoa they had more than one pilot episode?
IIRC it was like, the pilot, and the second episode was a continuation of it
It was a 2 hour pilot they split into a two parter after it aired.
I'm gunna watch Miami Vice for the first time now bros
If you told me this guy died a decade or more ago I would’ve believed you. Could’ve sworn he was already dead lol unless I’m confusing him with someone else that died
MODS STICKY NOW
Just started marathoning Magnolia last night. I will finish it in his honor.
rip bookman
I like simple pleasures, like butter in my ass, lollipops in my mouth
Good actor but I really hate Hard Eight, I don't know why.
Because you have no taste in movies
RIP based Bookman
Great actor rip
RIP. Great in Secret Honor.
>Great in Secret Honor

How do you die peacefully
Your throat constricts and you can no longer scream out.
fall asleep and don't wake up
I assume you still wake up one last time to realize you're about to die
Not if you’re receiving palliative care which I assume since he’s surrounded by loved ones
Basically they say their peace and goodbyes then they drift in an out of conscience for a lil bit and then they just fall asleep, start for lack of a better word struggling to breathe (not really “struggling “ tho. And then they just stop
You've posted this before. You are very moronic.
You've already lost consciousness, your bodily functions cease.

That's fricked up. Literally who is anyone else on that list, though.
no mention of law & order???
Philip Baker Hall K I N O!
watch it and celebrate him. written/directed by the same guy who did Boogie Nights etc
What the frick, I was just randomly thinking of the library cop scene at work today
F but I found his character in Hard Eight annoying, or maybe I just found the film annoying
wtf explain. sincerely want to understand where you're coming from
I didn't watch actually watch it long ago but i'm having trouble remembering where my contention was. I only recall not liking where it headed towards the end.
Looking at poor user reviews I think it might have been the time skip and the twist
hm okay i will rewatch and reconsider if you will rewatch and reconsider
I will not.
He was good, I immediately liked him as a charismatic hustler figure. I expected something like The Sting, or The Hustler with that sort of dynamic.
I'm going to watch Magnolia now.
frick you and your dub-quads then, i guess i'm sticking with KINO
lol
frick yeah i UNO'd your digits motherfricker
Hard Eight is a character driven movie, not a plot driven movie. Perhaps that’s what you don’t like about it. Philip Baker Hall was undeniably great in the movie, though. You know something is up with him so the “twist” is barely even a twist in my opinion.
rest in piece sweet prince
Wish he appeared in Millennium more than that one episode
MODS FRICKING STICKY THIS HE WAS INCREDIBLE
>just a little prick
Goddamn. RIP.
Deserves a sticky tbh a prolific character actor
F

Rest In Performance, King
F
Why and how isn't this sticky'd. He was literally in everything, unless you're a homosexual and only watch anime that's the only way to not know who he was.
>I remember when the librarian was a much older woman. Kindly, discreet, unattractive... We didn't know anything about her private life, you didn't want to know anything about her private life. She didn't have a private life.
>no sticky
absolute fookin state of this shitheap
I legitimately thought he was already dead. I randomly thought of him about 3 weeks ago and was sure he died.
RIP. For me he'll be best remembered by his work with PTA. His subdued acting was very interesting.
No respect
he can finally stop getting up 5 times a night to take a piss
I recognize this line but I'm blanking on the source.
F
where's the stick?
F. He was the library detective on Seinfeld and the doctor on one of the best Curb episodes
F
RIP
You were the perfect police chief or grizzled detective
all within three years
Hard Eight
The Rock
Air Force One
Boogie Nights
The Truman Show
Rush Hour
Enemy of the State
The Insider
Magnolia
The Talented Mr. Ripley
I always wondered why PTA dropped him after Magnolia, as he was integral to both that movie and Hard Eight and had a nice bit part in Boogie Nights. Oh well, a great actor who should have gotten more roles, but who left behind some great work (anons should watch Secret Honor).
He played Tommy Lee Jones's dad in Rules of Engagement
imagine being so old you can play tommy lee jones' dad
f though
where the FRICK is the sticky at?
It ain't coming, slick
>still no sticky
WAKE THE FRICK UP, HOT POCKETS, AND STICK THIS SHIT!!!!
He wasn't gay, a drug addict, a troony or an "e-celeb" - so sadly there will be no sticky for him
>no sticky
the absolute state of this board
>someone you saw in something but can't remember what
Rush Hour! I had this imagine in my head of him 'sitting at a desk and talking to a phone' in my head for ages, trying to remember where it was from.
About two weeks ago I checked Phillip Baker Hall's Wikipedia page and someone edited it to say he died 3 hours before. I checked the news and there was nothing. Now he's dead
I wonder....maybe a coincidence...but I wonder....
Great actor that was great in everything he was in. RIP.
Jerry Won.
RIP Old Man
>not getting a sticky, just like Jerry and George's moms
I knew it.
RIP.
